(Orlando, FL) - Total Nonstop Action wrestling -- the most recognized name in sports entertainment today behind only World Wrestling Entertainment, Extreme Championship Wrestling, Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown, WWE Heat, The Undertaker, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, the World Wrestling Federation, World Championship Wrestling, new World Order, D-Generation X, The Ultimate Fighting Championship, M.U.S.C.L.E., Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Eddie Guerrero and Cryme Tyme -- is preparing to enter the 21st century with its own video game.
The game, produced by previously-defunct developer Acclaim, will feature six of TNA's top superstars: Samoa Joe, "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal (shortened to "Macho Man" in the game's nickname mode), Kurt Angle, "Million Dollar Man" Robert Roode, Jeff "Hulk Hogan" Jarrett and "The Monster" Abyss Wearing An Andre The Giant Costume.
"This will be the most complete wrestling videogame to date," said Acclaim marketing developer Jason Sherman, who is obviously a big fat liar.

Unlike many games currently on the market, TNAMania will focus on a tournament mode that utilizes all six grapplers. It's much like TNA's signature "King of The Mountain" match, only without the ladder, title belt, high spots or referee in the ring.
Fans of TNA's high-impact style will be impressed by the wide array of wrestling maneuvers grapplers are able to carry out, such as headbutts, bodyslams and a move that kind of looks like a dropkick if you squint.
"This is wrestling the way it was meant to be!" exclaimed TNA announcer Mike Tenay, whose commentary in the game has been replaced by MIDI files of popular 1980's wrestling theme songs.

But that's not all. Players will have the ability to boost their wrestlers' energy by running into symbols that crawl across the back of the ring at random intervals. For example, there will be a footprint to symbolize Abyss' big boot, a fireball that represent's Kurt Angle's intensity in the ring, and a crucifix to represent Christian Cage (even though it can only be obtained by Jeff Jarrett in the game).
TNAMania will be available nationwide by August of 2009. Sherman said the game will be available on the Nintendo platform, though we assume he's referring to the Wii.
