Oooh... Huh?: A Canadian Bulldog Pictorial

Recently, I attended an art exhibit in Toronto that was meant to commemorate the late, great Macho Man Randy Savage.

I'm not entirely sure why my fair city was chosen to host this event (my fondest Randy Savage-in-Toronto memory was when, as WWF World Champion, he took on Dino Bravo in Maple Leaf Gardens for a very rare series of house show matches).

The skeptic in me, however, thinks this was done not to honor his Macho Memory, but rather to make a quick buck off the guy's name. And given the fact that some of these pieces were selling for upwards of $1000, cash was definitely a consideration.

Now.... your definition and my definition of what is "art" may vary considerably, but about 80 % of the pieces in this small-ish gallery certainly didn't scream to me "something I'd like to hang in my living room", but more "something I'd like to discreetly take pictures of on my BlackBerry and use as a joke on World Wrestling Insanity."

Let me know whether you agree or disagree with my assessment. And as a final warning: some of the pieces contain nudity. Seriously.

This was actually a really nice painting of Randy Savage (the image on the right was the exhibit's logo). Unfortunately, it was just about the only one of value.

Not sure what this painting is suggesting. Maybe that Macho Man is my own personal Jesus?

This one isn't bad; I just couldn't picture hanging it on my wall or anything.

A decent pencil sketch, but not sure it's worth a couple hundred bucks.

Remember the match where Tatanka, Randy Savage, ECW-era Shane Douglas and Booker T were all standing on top of each other while a cameraman stood beside them? I think it was from a WCW pay-per-view.

This is allegedly the last photo of Randy Savage alive; a screencap of him checking emails at a baseball game. Yeah, I'm thrilled, too.

If you ever wanted to know what Miss Elizabeth looked like topless and wearing some of her ex-husband's clothes, here you go. I'm guessing Ric Flair took this during his affair with her.

Something about Macho Man smelling like cedar. I could barely wait to drop a grand for this one.

No offense, but I could have drawn pretty much the exact same thing.

Ewwww... Macho Man's parents doing it! Who thought this was a good idea to draw?

What the hell? Randy Savage's shadow running away from what looks like a diseased hand? How is this "art"? Anyone?

No offense, but my 11 year-old son could draw something better, and probably using a higher caliber of crayon, too.

Do you remember the scene in Spider Man where a flabby, balding Savage talks to a pointy-headed Spider Man taking a drag on a cigarette? Me neither.

What the f... come on now! This is just a bunch of friggin' words on a piece of paper. STOP THE MADNESS!
