(Baltimore, MD) - A professional wrestler with the Ring of Honor promotion has been sentenced to death for ignoring the company's Code of Honor.
Greg "No Charisma" Markington, a generic cruiserweight-style grappler that has been with ROH since 2007, was sentenced to death row by Judge Montague Foster.
Markington refused to shake his opponent's hand last month in a match at the ROH supercard "Best In The World According To The 82 Fans In Attendance".
According to the Code of Honor, wrestlers must shake hands before and after the match (if they respect their opponents), keep the playing-field level and respect the officials.
"We have the Code of Honor in place so that wrestlers are held to a higher standard than in other promotions," explained Judge Foster in his ruling. "And so to set an example, you must die."
Markington's lawyers argued that the White Plains, New York native didn't respect his opponent, although prosecutors argued that "how can (Markington) not respect Davey Richards?"
Pending a variety of gangplank appeals his lawyers are working on, Markington is scheduled to be killed via (Jay) lethal injection.
