(Stamford, CT) - World Championship Wrestling, for years one of the world's largest and most popular wrestling promotions, was picked up this weekend at a garage sale for about 25 bucks.
"I didn't show up expecting to buy WCW," Stamford resident Lyle Killington told World Wrestling Insanity Breaking News. "It was just.... kind of there, and the owner talked me into going home with it."
The garage sale contained a "lot of cool wrestling stuff", explained Killington, including a Ted DiBiase wrestling buddy, a Hacksaw Jim Duggan foam 2 x 4, Goldust's original wig, and the ear of Yukon Eric that had been kneedropped off his head in 1952 by Killer Kowalski.
"They also had an original copy of the Piledriver album on vinyl," said Killington. "But they were asking $30 for it, which was too rich for my blood."
Eventually, the garage sale host came over to Killington ("He was doing this weird kind of strut/walk") and offered him something that was "quite frankly, the deal of a lifetime, pal."
"He was trying to sell me WCW for $300, but to be honest with you, it didn't look all that appealing," said Killington, describing the item as 'worn-out, falling apart and virtually worthless'. "I could get a dishwasher for that kind of money!"
"When I started to walk away, he panicked," Killington continued. "I talked him down to $26.50 -- that was everything I had in my wallet -- plus he threw in a Rey Mysterio mask for my troubles!"
When Killington remarked he wouldn't be able to fit WCW in his car, the previous owner offered to have The Great Khali deliver it to his home personally.
