T.G.I.F. With Matt Dawgs: WrestleMania Predictions, Scott Steiner Has Miracle Healing Powers, Lindsay Lohan's Adult Film Offer, Ta-Ta Tazz, Ring of Honor, and More
By Matt Dawgs
Matt Dawgs Presents: Thank Goodness It’s Friday!!!!!
Hello all. Welcome back and Happy Friday. Sorry for my absence last week but I had a family emergency. All is well now and we are approximately 2 days away from the 25th Annual Wrestlemania. Anyway, you already know the drill. In my previous column on this site titled “Matt Dawgs’ Random Thoughts, Opinions, Questions and Observations”, I wrote exactly what the title says I wrote. While this column will definitely hit you with that from time to time, I am also going just basically switch up the formula a bit with my random thoughts from each wrestling PROMOTION this week. Of course I will also throw in some thoughts on real world news, sports, entertainment and gossip. Please feel free to provide any thoughts or feedback on the new format. Enjoy. 1) WWE News and Notes • SMACKDOWN/WWE SPOILER: (DO NOT READ IF YOU DON’T WISH TO BE SPOILED)………Tazz is gone. Tonight is his last appearance broadcasting for WWE. His contract expired and he chose not to renew it. They are going to go with a three-man booth of JR, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler for Mania. My assumption is that JBL joins JR in the Smackdown booth starting next week. • Why would WWE give away JBL vs. Mysterio one week before they face off at Mania with Mysterio winning is beyond me? • I know it won’t go on last but does anyone doubt that the real main event of Wrestlemania is Taker vs. Shawn? • A very hot closing angle to end RAW. The crowd was on fire for it. Vince, Shane and Stephanie (maybe even Linda) should be the last people in the ring on Sunday as the show goes off the air celebrating with their son in law, HHH. • No way does Cena/Edge/Show close the show. Seriously, does anyone care about this angle/match? ANYONE? • Shelton Benjamin might win Money in the Bank. Seriously. That’s my pick. • Is there a bigger disappointment than the Jericho legends match at Mania? This Mania is pretty lackluster for a supposed 25th anniversary (which by the way it actually isn’t the 25th anniversary. It is Mania 25 but next year actually makes 25 years since Mania 1) • Monty Brown a.k.a. Marcus Cor Von is in negotiations to return to WWE. 2) Wrestlemania 25 Line-up and Predictions • Cena vs. Edge vs. Big Show for the World title (and for Vickie Guerrero) MATT: Edge retains. • HHH vs. Orton for the WWE title (and for the McMahon’s revenge) MATT: HHH RETAINS. McMAHON’s ALL CELEBRATE. • Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels MATT: Really? Shawn breaks the streak? Um…No. Taker. Clean. • Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy in an Extreme Rules match MATT: Tough one. With the way they have built it with Matt being such a heel, Jeff realistically should win. But with it being Extreme Rules and the first match of the feud, I can’t see Jeff winning. I see Matt going over via some sort of fluke. • The annual Money in the Bank ladder match featuring CM Punk, Kane, Mark Henry, Finlay, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Kofi Kingston and Christian. MATT: As stated above, Shelton Benjamin wins and becomes the first MITB winner to NOT win the title. • A 25 woman’s Diva Battle Royal including Melina, Maryse, Mickie James, Gail Kim, Michelle McCool, Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, Alicia Fox, Kelly Kelly, Maria, Eve Torres, Katie Lea Burchill, Beth Phoenix, Layla El, Rosa Mendes, Candice Michelle, Natalya, Jillian Hall, Tiffany, Tammy “Sunny” Sytch, Victoria, Molly Holly, Jackie Gayda-Hass, May Young and probably Trish Stratus to crown Miss Wrestlemania. MATT: Trish isn’t confirmed. If she is in it, she wins. I don’t see anyone else winning it if she is. Otherwise, I’ll go with Kelly Kelly for the win. • The Colon’s vs. Miz and Morrison (Title vs. Title) MATT: Miz and Morrison unify the titles. • JBL vs. Rey Mysterio (IC Title) MATT: JBL wins since he lost on RAW. Retires afterwards as IC champ. • Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Steamboat, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka in a handicap match a.k.a. Disappointment of the night. MATT: the Legends win, Jericho gets beat up by Mickey Rourke and put in the figure four by Flair. How do the legends win? A “Stone Cold Stunner” by Steve Austin leads to the finish. 3) WWE Hall of Fame Line-up • “Stone Cold” Steve Austin inducted by Vince McMahon • Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat inducted by “Nature Boy” Ric Flair • “Cowboy” Bill Watts inducted by Jim Ross • The Funk Brothers (Terry and Dory) inducted by “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes • The Von Erich Family inducted by Michael “PS” Hayes • Koko B. Ware inducted by The Honky Tonk Man • Howard Finkel to be inducted by Mean Gene Okerlund 4) TNA News and Notes • Someone explain to me how Scott Steiner was KILLED by Samoa Joe, his face permanently scarred at the last pay per view. The subsequent TNA show, he comes out in a hood with some sort of mask covering his face, doesn’t address his injuries and it is never mentioned and then this week, he comes out with no mask or hood, completely fine. WTF? • Subtle Tazz mention last week when the Dudley’s said, “Beat me if you can, Survive if I let you.” Coincidence or on purpose? • What a crap ass program TNA is. I still stick to that statement. • The complete list of names as the Booker T fan fest on 4/3 (Wrestlemania Weekend) in Houston is Kevin Nash, Amy “Lita” Dumas, Team 3-D, Matt “Spike Dudley” Hyson, Chavo Guerrero Sr., Stan Hansen, DDP, Kimberly Page, Rikishi, Ernest Miller, Sting, Booker T, Sharmell, Velvet Sky, Angelina Love, Jake Roberts, Samoa Joe, Christy Hemme, Jimmy Hart, The Nasty Boys, Mick Foley, Tully Blanchard, Baby Doll, Missy Hyatt, and Debra McMichael. • TNA Lockdown Line-up on April 19: • Sting vs. Mick Foley title match. • Lethal Lockdown has Team Jarrett, (Jeff Jarrett, Samoa Joe, A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels vs. Team Angle (Kurt Angle & Kevin Nash & Scott Steiner & Booker T) • Team 3-D vs. Beer Money with the IWGP tag titles vs. TNA tag titles • Eric Young vs. Danny Bonaduce • Suicide defending the X title in an Escape the cage match with Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed and probably others. (Don't know if it will be Daniels in the costume) • Queen of the Cage match involving Awesome Kong putting the title up, with Taylor Wilde and Angelina Love involved. 5) Ring of Honor News and Notes • Some people have asked why I don’t recap ROH in my weekly promotional coverage. There are actually a few reasons. The main one is that I don’t really follow the company or the angles anymore. I used to be a main proponent of ROH mainly due to the fact that they were “different”. But with all of the changes in management and the change in direction to become more of a WWE/TNA competitor, I have decided to shy away from it. No disrespect to the workers there but I just don’t have the time or money to follow their shows anymore. I can’t buy dvd after dvd or travel to shows on weekends. With that being said, below is the card for their Supercard of Honor show in Houston on April 3, 2009 and Saturday April 4th, 2009. • ROH Supercard of Honor IV: • ROH champion Nigel McGuinness vs. Jerry Lynn • GHC Jr. Heavyweight champion KENTA vs. Davey Richards • Roderick Strong vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima • Bryan Danielson vs. Alex Koslov • Tyler Black & The Necro Butcher vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Austin Aries • ROH Tag Team Champion El Generico vs. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brent Albright vs. NWA World Champion, Blue Demon, Jr • ROH Tag Team Champion Kevin Steen, Jay Briscoe, & Magno vs. Chris Hero, Eddie Edwards, & Incognito • Colt Cabana vs. D-Lo Brown. • Rhett Titus vs. Erick Stevens. • I fully expect for Nigel McGuinnes to lose his title here as he has been working through serious arm issues practically forever now and he made it worse last week. He needs surgery and has stated that he plans on working until the next pay per view taping on April 4th (also in Houston) but I think that is just a smokescreen, as he will lose the title here. • ROH Talke No Prisoners PPV Taping: • ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Claudio Castagnoli vs. NWA World Champion Blue Demon Jr. & Brent Albright • Jimmy Jacobs vs. The Necro Butcher - No DQ • Alex Koslov vs. Roderick Strong • ROH Tag Team champions Kevin Steen & El Generico & Jay Briscoe & Magno vs. The American Wolves & Chris Hero & Incognito • Bryan Danielson vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Erick Stevens vs. D-Lo Brown • Colt Cabana vs. Ace Steel 6) Random Thoughts, Links, Pics, ETC. • Random PIC of the week. • Don’t hate but I have a fresh copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine sitting in my DVD player. I’ll let you know how it is next week. Crystal Clear DVD quality copy too. • Well now I know how 24 is going to end. Just a matter of when. • White Tee Shirts RULE. • Just finished One Tree Hill Season 2. I am stil clueless as to how I missed this show when it debuted. Seriously, this show is F’N AWESOME. I missed 6 seasons of this. HOW? • Big shout out to Jack Evans who apparently kicked the living sh*t out of Juvented Guerrera in Mexico. Broke his nose, busted his eye up, etc. • For those who didn’t hear, there are rumors that Lindsey Lohan has been wooed by porn producers to make a film. It will make her the highest grossing single movie porn actress ever meaning that for the one film, she will make more than Jenna Jameson has ever made for one film. It will be 6 scenes in total and all straight up basic sex meaning no groups, threesomes, girl on girl, anal, etc. She will have total control of casting and can choose whatever man she wants to shoot scenes with, including non-actors. The offer is there. It is up to her to accept or not. • Lost is awesome. • So is How I Met Your Mother. But you already know that. If you don’t, you better Netflix the DVD’s or something. • REMINDER: my friend Frankie “El Gato” Figeroa is fighting tonight on ESPN 2 Friday Night Fights against Randall Bailey in the main event. Do me a favor and if you are free at 9:00 pm ET (i.e. Not watching Smackdown), please watch it. Ok kiddies, classes are over for now. See you all in a month or so next week!!!!!!!!! Feel free to discuss whatever you’d like in the “Anger Management” section of the message board or whichever section you see fit. ~Matt Dawgs World Wrestling Insanity writer Matt Dawgs is the bread and butter of the World Wrestling Insanity family. His future is bright and once James Guttman comes into a large sum of money, you can expect Matt will be getting tons of it thrown at him, at least half of it. Matt used to moonlight as a professional wrestler/manager in the NY/NJ Indy scene. He is legit afraid of getting on Homicide’s bad side but thinks he is a cool dude in general. He also is a funny guy. If you have any questions, corrections, feedback, comments and ideas, he can be reached at Matt@worldwrestlinginsanity.com. If the feedback is negative, you can e-mail Matt at insanity@worldwrestlinginsanity.com. P.S. – In case you didn’t know, James Guttman has a new WRESTLING BOOK out titled “Shoot First, Ask Questions Later”. It is a damn fun read so I suggest you run out and get it today. If you already have your copy, read it. If you already read your copy, read it again. It is funny; like me. Also, don’t forget to check out CLUB WWI. It can be found by clicking the banner at the top of this page. Check out all the new audio updates and features found there. Some good stuff including all of James Guttman’s past Radio Free Insanity broadcasts as well as all new, uncut interviews with some of wrestling past and present names. Good stuff people.
