Random Thoughts, Opinions, Questions and Observations.
Greetings from under the New Blue Yankee cap.
I am pissed and because of this, I am going to spoil the next two weeks of TNA iMPACT for you. If you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t read this column and I will see you next week with something new to discuss. If you are a TNA fan and are offended easily and don’t want to have your feelings of your beloved TNA hurt, do yourself a favor and check out now. This is not for TNA fans.
If you are disgusted by the lack of growth of a company that has what possibly could be the best “in ring” talent in the world today and that instead of making new stars with talented individuals rather than pushing old stars from the WWE, THEN THIS IS THE COLUMN FOR YOU!!!!
At the Hard Justice pay per view, TNA completely buried and ruined the only person they can call a homegrown star who has the potential to carry their company, Samoa Joe. Mind you, Joe hasn’t been exactly setting the world on fire as of late since he has been buried for several months now but Hard Justice was the icing on the cake. The proverbial straw that broke the camels back, if you will. Samoa Joe became a complete and absolute bumbling idiot and it took the final 3 minutes of his match with Kurt Angle for that to happen. In the main event, Samoa Joe defended his X-Division and Tag Team titles against Kurt Angle who put up his World and fake IWGP titles. In the weeks leading up to the event, Angle was in the process of breaking up with his hot MILF wife Karen. Well as it turns out, Joe aligned himself with Karen to get to Kurt. It appeared to be working. Problem is, everyone in the entire WORLD knew that Karen was going to turn on Samoa Joe. Everyone but Joe that is. So guess what happened at the end of that match? Karen turned on Joe, rejoined Kurt and Joe lost to Angle. Funny thing happened during all of this. The
Orlando crowd managed to cheer Kurt Angle as he was beating Joe. Samoa Joe, the same man who fans took a huge liking too, the same man who was undefeated in TNA for his first two years in the company and was well on his way to being the most popular wrestler on the roster, looked like a buffoon so much so that his loyal fans didn’t care less. There is no rescuing Samoa Joe from this anymore. He is buried. Stick a fork in him because if/when he eventually wins the title, NO ONE IS GOING TO CARE. They barely cared now and that was only because some people, myself included, had an inkling of hope that Joe might actually win the big one. He didn’t. AGAIN.
But don’t let it stop there, TNA continued with the nonsense as at their iMPACT tapings, Kurt Angle, the man who has more titles than Ultimo Dragon in his prime, defeated the Steiner Brothers. Read that line again. Not Angle defeated Scott Steiner. No, Angle didn’t defeat Rick Steiner. He defeated THE STEINER BROTHERS.
Last month, at the last TNA pay per view, Christopher Daniels won a grueling Ultimate X match to become number one contender to the X-Division title. This pay per view, he is pinned in a tag team match against Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal. Not a big deal considering he couldn’t fight for the X-title at this PPV since Joe was defending it against Angle. The big deal is that since Daniels was pinned by Jay Lethal, he somehow won the X-Division title shot even though it wasn’t on the line in the first place. Daniels complained since it was a tag match and Cornette made him wrestle Lethal again to earn the shot back. He did, he lost. So after the big XXX reunion, they are back to being misused and buried for whatever reason.
Wait, it gets better. Adam “Pacman” Jones will be wrestling on the next pay per view. How you ask? I have no idea since the Tennessee Titans have placed a restraining order against him barring him from any physical contact at all. He cannot hit anyone nor can anyone hit him. But somehow it was announced that he gets to team with Ron “the Truth” Killings. Not only are they teaming, but they are getting tag team title shots against Kurt Angle and a partner of his choosing. How did they get a title shot? Did they defeat LAX? VKM? Team 3D? The Steiners? No. They just have a match somehow. Another interesting note, I wonder why TNA decided to team him with Ron Killings (who was in the TNA doghouse just a few weeks ago and wanted to quit.)? What do they possibly have in common? They both don’t rap. They both don’t play pro football. They both aren’t wrestlers. Hmmmmmmm. I can’t put my finger on it.
The final stupid TNA move of the day is that Christian Cage, a man who was been built up as a top heel for sometime now, lost his first ever TNA match to Abyss. Mind you, he has lost the title (twice), he has not actually been pinned or submitted. He has always lost them in controversial fashion. Don’t have a problem with him losing; I have a problem with him losing for the first time ON FREE TV!!!!! Where’s the logic? The only thing that makes all this worse is that TNA is on the verge of getting two hours in September and a lot of people are talking like this is going to save TNA and this is going to turn TNA around into a legit WWE competitor. No. It isn’t. Instead, it is going to be two hours or crap. An extra hour of the same old sh*t. Mark my words people, things are going to get worse, especially when TNA continues to sign WWE castaways and continues to produces angles that are on par with WCW 2000 levels.
Ok, I am taking a deep breath. My rant is over but believe me when I say, I am sure it will come back in the not too distant future. Let’s move onto other stories.
WWE is firing on all cylinders again. For the second straight week, they delivered a solid RAW show which had a “little bit” for everyone. I like this whole Vince bastard son storyline and think it has potential. It’s just too bad I know the end result because I would have been happy to find out along with everyone else who the kid is. Unless that is, they change it last minute and it isn’t who it was spoiled to be.
Just saw Casino Royale with Daniel Craig playing the role of James Bond. KICK ASS MOVIE. He is by far the best Bond I have ever seen and this is the best Bond movie I have seen. I am not a HUGE Bond fan like some, but still, this was a damn good action flick with some good scenes. I like how they “restarted” it to remain close to the times rather than not have a set year/era for it as previous Bond films. They kind of shifted away from fantasy and made it a tad more realistic than older movies. Less gadgets and more spy and hand to hand stuff.
Joba Chamberlain. WHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO~!~!~!~! Nuff said.
Maria looked smoking hot on WWE Idol Monday night. I still can’t believe CM Punk has run through half of the hottest women in wrestling today. Maria, Mickie James (before she was as hot as she is now), Tracy Brooks, Daffeny Unger, and lord knows who else. God damn that CM Punk.
Umaga as a face is working.
Santino Marella as a heel is working. Just hope he can hold up his end in the ring.
Evander Holyfield boxing Matt Hardy? When was the last time Holyfield was relevant? Was George Foreman busy? Couldn’t find Larry Holmes? Seriously.
Amazing how “He who shall not be named but murdered his wife and son” has been erased from the history books. According to PWInsider, WWE 24/7 has removed him from the “History of the 4 Horsemen” video they are showing and they end the piece after Brian Pillman leaves. Also, in the Legends Roundtable, when discussing the Monday Night Wars, Mick Foley talks about the Radicals debuting for WWE and mentions Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero. No mention of “him”. WOW.
Britney Spears is losing control. I almost feel sorry for her. She had it all at one point in her life and had potential to be one of the biggest stars ever. Instead, she is just another casualty in the celebrity world that was too weak to survive. As much as people complain about wrestling and the deaths in the business, that is all due to wrestlers wanting to have a certain look and maintain a certain lifestyle. In
Hollywood, whether it is singing or acting, those businesses eat their young. Look at the history of child actors and singers in the entertainment field and how they ended up. Shocking.
Summerslam lineup (so far)
John Cena vs. Randy Orton – WWE Title
The Great Khali vs. Batista – World Heavyweight title
John Morrison vs. CM Punk – ECW title
King Booker vs. Triple H
Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero
Matt Hardy vs. MVP –
US title
Shelly Duncan. WHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~!~!~!~! Nuff said.
R.I.P. to Brian “Crush”
Adams. Mixed feelings about this. Of course it is sad that we have lost another wrestler but it isn’t shocking to me anymore. I don’t think there will be another wrestling death that can shock me unless it is someone like The Rock. Sad isn’t it? I always felt that he and Brian Clarke could have had a decent WWE run had they went to OVW to train for a while and had a better attitude. I bet Taker never lives that one down huh?
Anyone wonder what WWE Hall of Famer Greg “the Hammer” Valentine is up to lately? Well wonder no more. He is working in a
Backyard Wrestling Federation
.
Michelle McCool is hot.
Armando Alejandro Estrada is now the Hardcore Dictator of ECW. This role, the GM role, is tailor made for him. He needs a bodyguard though because he is going to get his ass handed to him eventually. But if they want to debut Dan Rodman, I think this is the perfect place for him until he is ready for Prime Time and moves to RAW to get fed to HHH. In the meantime, he can be pushed as a squash monster on ECW as Armando makes waves.
HILARIOUS.
BREAKING NEWS: Brock Lesnar is negotiating with TNA according to both Mike Johnson and Dave Meltzer. I will have full details and my thoughts on this as more details become available.
Ok kiddies, classes are over for now. See you all next week.
Feel free to discuss whatever you’d like in the
“
Anger
Management”
section of the message board or whichever section you see fit.
