Matt Dawgs Presents: Thank Goodness It’s Friday!!!!!

Hello all. Welcome back and Happy Friday. Lets just get right to it - in my previous column on this site titled “Matt Dawgs’ Random Thoughts, Opinions, Questions and Observations”, I wrote exactly what the title says I wrote. While this column will definitely hit you with that from time to time, I am also going to basically switch up the formula a bit with my random thoughts from each wrestling PROMOTION this week. Of course, I will also throw in some thoughts on real world news, sports, entertainment and gossip. Please feel free to provide any thoughts or feedback on the new format. Enjoy.

MY TRAINING: Week 2 of the “comeback” didn’t go as planned. Unfortunately for me, I’m not 22 anymore nor am I a single bachelor. I’m a 31-year-old married father of one. Not only does my body not heal as quickly as it used to, but I also have this thing now called RESPONSIBILITIES. Looking for a full-time job, being a full-time father and husband and trying to balance it all out isn’t easy. To be perfectly honest, it has me on the ropes almost ready to tap out! For example, ACE Pro Wrestling has a show this Sunday. A television taping to be exact as they signed a deal to air on Comcast Cable (great job, Mike Morgan!!!!). It’s at 1:00 pm ET. Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it cause I have a previous family commitment. The same goes with next week’s major show featuring Jerry Lynn. So in the event that I was “wrestle-ready”, I wouldn’t’ be able to work either of ACE’s main shows due to my real life. That my friends, SUCKS!! I'm still on the fence; I haven’t quit just yet. Just need to schedule my time better and work things out more. Anyway, even if for some reason I abandon my comeback, I still want and need you to support ACE Pro Wrestling. ACE Pro Wrestling is formerly the AWA-NJ promotion, which I last worked for back in 2005. ACE is a solid place for young, up and comers to get their feet wet in the business and mix with a good group of hard-working individuals and veterans. For example, on October 10, 2009, at the ACE arena located at 725 Sip Street in Union City, Jerry Lynn will be wrestling against one of the ACE wrestlers, Mo Sexton. The current ACE World Champion is Dan Maff formerly of ROH. It is definitely solid wrestling for a good price and I (hopefully) will start working there sometime before the year is over. The full card for the show can be found by clicking HERE. If you are in the NY/NJ/CT/PA area, please do yourself a favor and check out their shows and visit their websites. We need more successful independent wrestling promotions out there; more places for people to work.

1) WWE News and Notes

· Al Sharpton = WORSE THAN JEREMY PIVEN AND CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER…. COMBINED! What a horrible RAW from start to finish.

· FINALLY…. THE ROCK... HAS COME BACK TO SMACKDOWN!- in a pre-taped promo that airs tonight on the Smackdown 10 th Anniversary special. According to Dave Meltzer, it is probably the best promo of 2009, which says something about WWE’s promos!

· In that same promo that airs tonight, The Rock says, and I quote, “Maybe it’s time for the Rock to guest host RAW” and the fans went apesh*t! Word is, he is very open to hosting an episode sometime during a break in his schedule; it is something he spoke to Vince about. It’s just a timing issue.

· There is also a very good Eddie Guerrero tribute package that, according to Jim Ross, brought tears to his eyes. Eddie Guerrero was awesome.

· Speaking of Guerrero's, Vickie Guerrero is back with the company and will be managing WWE developmental Eric Escobar. Not for nothing- I’m sure Escobar is good and all, but if you’re going to have Vickie Guerrero on television, she needs to be featured. She needs to get her GM position back because otherwise it is a waste of her talent if she can't speak weekly.

· For those of you expecting the writing to improve soon, keep praying but it’s not likely. The next WWE PPV is on October 4 th followed by a PPV on October 25 th . That’s three weeks of build. The writing team is already worn out and I don’t expect it to improve with so many PPV’s and shows.

· The October 25 th PPV is called “Bragging Rights” and all the matches are expected to be inter-brand.

· No word on Jeff Hardy but he had his first court date and he was told to return on November 4 th .

· Pittsburgh Steeler Starting Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is hosting RAW on Monday. UGH.

· Dennis Miller has been tapped to guest host a RAW in the future. I want to know who in management is booking these guest hosts? Seriously.

· Justin Roberts was the announcer for RAW this week but it is not definite that he will be the permanent announcer.

· Tiffany (ECW’s GM) was injured in FCW last week and was written out of storylines due to a “car accident”. William Regal was announced as “interim” GM. He isn’t allowed to make any ECW title matches due to him recently competing for the ECW title. Regal has always been good in a role of authority and it features him more so- which is a good thing.

· Congrats to Lillian Garcia who was married last week. Here is a PIC of her from her wedding.

· The plot of "The Marine 2" is available. Ted DiBiase plays a marine who is on vacation in Thailand with his wife when the resort he is staying at is taken over by terrorists. His wife is kidnapped and he has to rescue her and stop the terrorists. Sounds better than "The Marine" 1.

· FYI…Randy Orton will win back the title at HITC. That’s my pick.

· It is inevitable- DX is beating Legacy at HITC. For the record, I am perfectly fine with this. Legacy got put over. DX will get the win because you need to leave fans happy.

2) WWE Hell in a Cell PPV on October 4, 2009 Line-up
· WWE TITLE: Randy Orton © vs. John Cena in an Hell in a Cell Match
· WORLD TITLE: CM Punk © vs. The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match
· Degeneration X vs. Legacy in a Hell in a Cell match
· INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE: John Morrison © vs. Dolph Ziggler
· US TITLE: Kofi Kingston © vs. The Miz vs. Jack Swagger
· UNDISPUTED TAG TEAM TITLES: Chris Jericho and the Big Show © vs. Batista and Rey Mysterio
· DIVAS TITLE: Mickey James © vs. Alicia Fox.

3) TNA News and Notes
· Sting isn’t retiring at "Bound for Glory" as originally planned. It hasn’t been confirmed but it is rumored that he signed a 6-month contract with the company. Then again, he's never going to retire! The money and schedule are too good and when he originally joined TNA, it was for one year and then retire... and that was almost 5 years ago!

· Samoa Joe vs. Homicide vs. Christopher Daniels for the X-title on Impact. So they have Homicide do the job- the recently turned heel Homicide. The same Homicide who I said is the modern day Terry Funk last week. Not only does he lose, he loses cleanly to the choke. WTF? Way to push the newly-heel guy, TNA bookers. I F’N HATE YOU!!!!

· TNA is hoping to sign Terry Funk to make a cameo in the Abyss/Foley feud.

· Global Impact 2, which was taped in January 2009, will finally air on Spike TV on October 8 th . If you want to see what TNA wrestlers can really do, watch this special. Some solid wrestling and I believe that it has more actual in-ring wrestling than an entire month of TNA Impact!

· Props to Amazing Red who won a ladder match on Impact this week for a TNA X-Division title shot. I haven’t seen Red on his comeback and he looked pretty good. Not as good as in his prime but several knee injuries will do that to you.

· Lacey Von Erich is now a member of the Beautiful People. She’s hot! I still wish they would resolve this Angelina Love visa stuff though.

· I know this is old but… HA.

· The World Elite sucks. Seriously. I don’t understand why they're being featured as a serious threat to anyone in the promotion. Especially when you have the Main Event Mafia around. Plus, building to a feud between the two stables is pointless. They're both heels and no one is going to care once they actually fight.

4) TNA Bound for Glory PPV on October 18, 2009 Line-up
· TNA TITLE: AJ Styles © vs. Sting
· Kurt Angle vs. Matt Morgan
· Samoa Joe vs. Bobby Lashley
· MONSTER’S BALL: Abyss vs. Mick Foley
· Awesome Kong vs. Tara
· TNA KNOCKOUT’S TAG TITLES: Sarita & Taylor Wilde © vs. Velvet Sky & Madison Rayne
· TNA TAG TEAM & IWGP TITLES: Scott Steiner & Booker T vs. British Invasion vs. Team 3D vs. Beer Money
· ULTIMATE X MATCH: Suicide vs. D’Angelo Dinero vs. Daniels vs. Homicide

5) Ring of Honor News and Notes
· Bryan “American Dragon” Danielson and Nigel McGuinness have finished up with the company. They had what was apparently a **** match in NY with Danielson beating McGuinness by tap out after Danielson threw elbows until McGuinness quit. This by the way is following a potential match of the year candidate the night before between Danielson and Davey Richards.

· Jim Cornette has returned to ROH after being released by TNA. He will have an on-air role for TV as an “Executive Producer” for HD Net. I assume it's going to be similar to that of Cyrus on ECW on TNN.

· Bret Hart has finished his required dates with the company but ROH is interested in using him more down the line. That is, unless he rejoins WWE.

· Eddie Edwards underwent surgery to repair his broken elbow. He suffered it in Boston the night before the NY show. Amazing thing is, he worked the NY show in a LADDER MATCH with the broken elbow. No word on how long he is expected to be out but if he can come back by November, then the American Wolves do not have to drop the titles since November is the next TV taping.

· Not a good way to run a business if you ask me- apparently ROH oversold the New York show. The show was a sellout with 1,400 in attendance. That being said, they stopped letting people in the door at 7:30 pm whether they had a ticket or not. So if you bought a ticket for that show three months ago, when they went on sale and weren’t there by 7:30 pm, you were sent home even though you bought the ticket 3 months in advance. That my friends, is HORRIBLE.

· Financially, things aren’t much better than before but the Boston/NY double shot did draw well. Not enough to get them out of financial peril, but good enough.

6) MMA News and Notes
· I told you so. Bye Bye Kimbo. I do expect Dana White to sign him but I also said that he would be exposed once he fought. I fully admit that after seeing him on TUF, he appears to be a good person who does have a willingness to learn. Problem is, at age 35, the learning curve is pretty steep and he isn’t going to improve all that much more. I do wish him luck because unless he gets some sort of ground game, he's going to have to win all of his fights by KO, which isn’t an easy task.

· The Kimbo/Nelson fight has been crapped on by most fans- as expected. While it wasn’t a devastating loss by Slice, it was a shame because he looked like he could've beaten Nelson. Nelson is a stand up fighter who was knocked out in his last fight against Andrei Arlovski.

· This season of TUF is pretty good so far. Shame that Rashad and Rampage aren’t going to fight because that show would have been HUGE.

· Vitor Belfort vs. Anderson Silva on January 2, 2010 from Las Vegas at UFC 108. That's going to be something.

· Strikeforce is in negotiations to sign Bobby Lashley and actually have him fight on their CBS debut November 7 th on the undercard of Fedor vs. Brett Rogers.

· Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is still retired.

· I wasn’t exactly behind this whole “Rampage” in the A-Team movie because I figured it would end up like Starsky and Hutch with Ben Stiller or The Dukes of Hazard with Johnny Knoxville remakes. But then I saw this: A-TEAM FIRST PICTURE. Liam Nielsen and Bradley Cooper as Hannibal and Face respectively with Rampage as B.A. Barakus? THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BE AWESOME.

· In a recent interview, Tito Ortiz said he took his last UFC fight against Lyoto Machida while injured because he has a family to feed. Um… I don’t know how much she is worth now, Tito- but in 2005, your wife Jenna Jameson, according to Forbes, was worth over $70 million! This was before she sold her Club Jenna porn franchise to Playboy Enterprises. I think it's safe to say that your family would've been ok if you didn’t take that fight!

· Shane Carwin is really laying it in thick on Brock Lesnar. I hope he can back it up because Lesnar is basically brushing it off and no selling him. Brock is going to put a hurting on him.

· The Floyd “Money” Mayweather fight against Juan Manuel Marquez definitely allows Floyd to keep his nickname. According to HBO, the fight garnered over 1,000,000 PPV buys!!! That is amazing considering Marquez is not a draw and it had no undercard of any worth. It also showed that Boxing and MMA don’t share the same audience. UFC drew about 450,000 against Boxing. That's a lot of people ordering PPV that day since they went head to head.

· UFC 104 is on October 24 th from Los Angeles California and the line up is as follows:
· UFC Light Heavyweight Title: Lyoto Machida © vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua
· Cain Velasquez vs. Ben Rothwell
· Gleison Tubau vs. Josh Neer
· Joe Stevenson vs. Spencer Fisher
· Anthony Johnson vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida

· UFC 105 is on November 14th from Manchester England and the line up is as follows:
· Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera
· Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang
· Dan Hardy vs. Dong Hyun Kim

7) Random Thoughts, Links, Pics, ETC.

· Random VIDEO of the week.

· Movie Director Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland and may be extradited to the United States for raping a 13-year-old girl over 30 years ago which he pled guilty to before fleeing the country. A lot of Hollywood big wigs are showing support for Polanski because he fled feeling that the judge was going to railroad him. He didn’t plead to rape as most charges were dropped. He pled to sex with a minor. Um…. The actual situation is that he drugged the girl, gave her champagne, then forcibly had sex with her including anally against her will as she repeatedly said no. The Hollywood elite are showing him support because he was “in exile” for 30 years. Again, Ummmmm NO. He was living in France (where he is from) in a mansion and freely travelled around Europe (including a HOME IN SWITZERLAND) for the past 30 years; including winning an Academy Award for BEST DIRECTOR for "The Pianist" in 2002. He has hardly been living in squalor. Bottom line is, no matter what he pled to, sex with a 13-year-old is illegal. He needs to serve some jail time.

· For you Metal Gear Solid fans, there is a fan-made movie out called “ Metal Gear Solid: Philantrophy”. It’s pretty awesome. Check it out.

· James Guttman continues to deliver the goods people. He brought us Eric Watts and his show “Mega Watts”. Well, Eric Watts has now brought to World Wrestling Insanity none other than “The Total Package” Lex Luger!!!!!!! If you’re not a member of Club WWI then you are seriously missing out. You need to join CLUBWWI.COM right now. Over 90 minutes of Eric Watts, James Guttman and Lex Luger discussing Lex’s life and career!!!!!

· Congrats to the NY Yankees, who have clinched the American League East Title against the Boston Red Sox, locked up home field advantage through out the entire playoffs, (World Series included) and won their 100 th game of the season all at the same time. This year is looking pretty damn good, folks!!!

· Christina Aguilera keeps rocking on. Once again she is braless.

· Actor James Franco is joining the cast of ABC soap opera General Hospital. That’s pretty cool when a known actor asks to be part of a soap opera instead of the other way around. Speaking of GH, actor Jonathan Jackson, who played the original Lucky Spencer, is returning to the show as Lucky. He begins on October 27 th . Finally, Sarah Joy Brown is leaving GH to join the Bold and the Beautiful. That ends the homosexual part of my column.

·    For those of you who have heard of Sophie Monk, check this page out. HERE .

· ABC’s “Flash Forward” = AWESOME! Great concept and has me intrigued.

· “Big shout out to my friend and a very good DJ, DJ UCH. Check out his site and show some support by visiting him at DJUCH.com

·
Finally, we close out with my wife. She has started her own business creating diaper cakes, which are a very original and cost efficient baby shower gift. Please take a second to visit her website: NY Diaper Cakes.

Ok kiddies, classes are over for now. See you soon!!!!!!!!!

Feel free to discuss whatever you’d like in the “Anger Management” section of the message board or whichever section you see fit.

~ Matt Dawgs

World Wrestling Insanity writer Matt Dawgs is the bread and butter of the World Wrestling Insanity family. His future is bright and once James Guttman comes into a large sum of money, you can expect Matt will be getting tons of it thrown at him, at least half of it. Matt used to moonlight as a professional wrestler/manager in the NY/NJ Indy scene. He is legit afraid of getting on Homicide’s bad side but thinks he is a cool dude in general. He also is a funny guy. If you have any questions, corrections, feedback, comments and ideas, he can be reached at Matt@worldwrestlinginsanity. com. If the feedback is negative, you can e-mail Matt at insanity@ worldwrestlinginsanity.com.

P.S. – In case you didn’t know, James Guttman has a new WRESTLING BOOK out titled “Shoot First, Ask Questions Later”. It is a damn fun read so I suggest you run out and get it today. If you already have your copy, read it. If you already read your copy, read it again. It is funny; like me.

Also, don’t forget to check out CLUB WWI. It can be found by clicking the banner at the top of this page. Check out all the new audio updates and features found there. Some good stuff including all of James Guttman’s past Radio Free Insanity broadcasts as well as all new, uncut interviews with some of wrestling past and present names. Good stuff people.
