ECW Real Time Report: Match By Match Coverage

By "Realtime" Mike Rickard II
May 6, 2008 - 8:40 PM

...

It's a celebration tonight as the new ECW celebrates its 100th episode.   Tonight will feature Mike Knox vs. Tommy Dreamer in an Extreme Rules Match while Colin Delaney battles ECW General Manager Armando Estrada in his latest bid to secure an ECW contract.

VIDEO:  Hype video celebrating the 100th episode of ECW.

The "new voice of ECW" Mike Adamle is introduced.  He makes his way to the ring to explain why he abruptly left the broadcast booth last week on ECW.  He explains that last week he lost his cool and he owes an apology.  He apologizes to Tazz as well as the ECW fans.  He tells the fans that he's been a broadcaster longer than most of the fans have been alive.  He runs down his credentials including his time covering the NFL, the Olympics, and American Gladiators but points out he had no idea how difficult it would be to cover wrestling.  He loves working for the WWE and he will do everything in his power to be the best he can and to provide the best possible product he can to ECW.  He tells the fans to despise him if they will but to enjoy the 100th episode of ECW.

1.  Extreme Rules Match:  Tommy Dreamer vs. Mike Knox: ECW Original Stevie Richards joins Tazz and Adamle in the announce booth.  Tommy Dreamer wastes no time showing Knox what an Extreme Rules Match is all about, taking him outside the ring and throwing him into the steel steps.  However Knox catches Dreamer with a clothesline and ten grabs a metal tray, blasting it over Dreamer's back.  Knox puts Dreamer in the ring and picks him up for a delayed vertical suplex.  Dreamer goes down and Knox covers him but he picks him up before the three count.  Knox drapes Dreamer on the ropes and runs at him with a big knee.  Knox then rolls out of the ring and goes into a shopping cart full of plunder.  Knox retrieves a hockey stick but Dreamer stops him before he can use it.  Dreamer takes the hockey stick and blasts it across Knox, stunning him.  Dreamer grabs some more weaponry, adding a kendo stick and paddle to his arsenal.  Knox soon feels Dreamer's wrath, falling down before Dreamer's onslaught.  Dreamer grabs the shopping cart and empties it before throwing it into the ring.  Unfortunately, Knox beats him to the punch and slams Dreamer onto the cart.  Knox goes to the top ropes but Dreamer catches him, crouching him on the ropes.  Dreamer places Knox in the Tree of Woe and then sets the shopping cart up near Knox.  Hesitation dropkick by Dreamer.  Dreamer dropkick + Knox' head+shopping cart=OUCH!  Dreamer continues utilizing the Extreme Rules and grabs a table, sliding it into the ring.  Dreamer sets up the table and goes to put Knox through but Knox counters and drives Dreamer through the table.  Cover on Dreamer but Dreamer kicks out.  Dreamer fights back and goes for a DDT but Knox catches him with a low blow before hitting the Spinner Reverse STo.  Dreamer flies into a steel chair and that's it.

WINNER:
Mike Knox (by pinfall).

VIDEO:  A look back at the first episode of ECW from June 13, 2006 The Zombie got an extreme introduction to ECW courtesy of the Sandman who broke a kendo stick over his head.

Kelly Kelly's Expose:  Kelly Kelly is out there strutting her stuff to the music of Timbaland.  She may not have her former partners from Extreme Expose with her but she's still willing to dance for the fans.  Speaking of the girls from Extreme Expose, Layla shows up and schools Kelly Kelly on how to dance.  The two Divas begin shoving each other in an attempt to capture the spotlight.  Not surprisingly, things break down into a catfight until ECW referees break things up.

VIDEO:  The 16thepisode of ECW on September 26, 2006 featured a brutal match between Rob Van Dam and Hardcore Holly that resulted in a brutal gash to Holly's back (Whatever you do, please don't try this at home!)

Later on, Kofi Kingston squares off against Matt Striker.  Can Kofi keep his undefeated streak alive?

VIDEO:  55th Episode June 26, 2007 saw "Rowdy" Roddy Piper wish Matt Striker a Happy Birthday followed by a beatdown on Striker courtesy of the Boogeyman.

VIDEO:  Highlights from last week's brawl between Chuck Palumbo & CM Punk.

INTERVIEW:  Backstage, Lena interviews Chuck Palumbo, saying "you got as good as you gave".  Palumbo warns Punk that if he gets in his face again, he's knocking him out.

Shelton Benjamin joins Tazz and Mike Adamle in the announce booth.

2.  Kofi Kingston vs. Matt Striker: Kofi looks over at Benjamin, allowing Striker to catch him off guard.  Striker knocks Kofi down but Kofi rebounds with a dropkick, knocking Striker down.  Double legdrop by Kofi.  Striker throws some punches then tries to toss Kofi out of the ring.  Kofi puts the brakes on and  hits "Trouble in Paradise" (roundhouse kick), stunning Striker and scoring a pinfall win.

WINNER:  Kofi Kingston (by pinfall).

After the match, Shelton Benjamin attacks Kofi Kingston and lays him out.  Benjamin is apparently still sore that Kofi beat him two weeks in a row.

BACKSTAGE:  Colin Delaney is on his way to the ring for his match against Armando Estrada.  His fellow babyfaces cheer him on as he prepares for his opportunity to win an ECW contract.

VIDEO:  Hype video for the Steel Cage Match at Judgment Day between WWE Champion Triple H and Randy Orton.

VIDEO:  The 43rd epsidoe April 3, 2007 saw a rematch from Wrestlemania 23 contested under Extreme Rules as the New Breed defeated the ECW Originals

3.  Colin Delaney vs. ECW General manager Armando Estrada:  A ripped Armando poses before the match.  Colin goes for an early pin but Armando kicks out and goes to work on Colin, punching and kicking away.  Estrada shows his wrestling skills by putting Delaney in a hammerlock.  Delaney punches away but Estrada pulls him down by the hair.  Irish whip on Delaney as Armando charges him.  Colin slides out of the way and Estrada hits the corner hard.  Delaney dropkicks Estrada and goes after him but Estrada slips out of a charge by Delaney.  Estrada knocks Delaney out of the ring but when Delaney returns to the ring, he catches the ECW General manager with a Sunset Flip, scoring a pinfall win.

WINNER: Colin Delaney (by pinfall).

After the match, an ecstatic Colin Delaney slaps the fans hands.  Tazz interviews him and Delaney thanks the fans and Tommy Dreamer for supporting him.  All the beatdowns he suffered were worth it now that he's officially under contract to ECW.

VIDEO:  SmackDown Rebound. Highlights of SmackDown! General Manager Vicki Guerrero stripping the Undertaker of the World Championship.

VIDEO:  Hype video for this week's edition of RAW.

Mike Adamle and Tazz are joined by WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz.  Looks like everyone's dropping by to say hello.  Miz gives Tazz a "Chick Magnet" T-shirt, to which Tazz is delighted.

4.  Chavo Guerrero & Bam Nely vs. CM Punk & ECW World Champion Kane:  Kane begins the match against Bam Nely.   Nely goes for Kane's leg but getting the big man proves to be harder than he thought.  Nely tries kicking Kane's leg but Kane shrugs the kicks off and slams Nely down before tagging in Punk.  Punk splashes onto Nely before unleashing several martial arts kicks on Chavo's bodyguard.  CM Punk tries some shoulderblocks off the ropes but Nely gets the best of him threre.  Tag to Chavo but CM Punk stays in control, suplexing Chavo down to the mat.  Chavo catches Punk with a forearm uppercut and begins working him over in the corner.  Chavo dives at CM Punk but Mr. Money in the Bank back body drops him over the top ropes.  Fortunately for Chavo, Bam Nely is there outside the ring to make sure he doesn't get hurt.

VIDEO:  Hype video for Twist of Fate, the new DVD spotlighting Matt & Jeff Hardy.

After the break, Punk has Bam Nely in an arm bar.  Nely gets out and makes the tag to Chavo.  Chavo slams Punk down and covers him for a one count.  Series of right hands by Chavo to Punk.  Punk fires some rights of his own but Chavo takes Punk down to the mat.  Chavo then applies a rear chinlock to Punk, attempting to wear him down.  Punk gets to his feet and begins kneeing Chavo but Chavo grabs a handful of hair and yanks Punk down to the mat.  Tag to Nely as the big man kicks away at a fallen Punk.  Cover on Punk but he only gets a one count.  Punk tries some punches but Nely ignores them and suplexes Punk down to the mat.  Tag to Chavo who flies over the top rope onto Punk.  Side suplex on Punk as Chavo follows up with a cradle for about a two count.  Punk is obviously still got a lot of fight left.  Chavo taunts Kane, sending the Big Red Machine into the ring, allowing him and Nely to double team Punk while the referee sends Kane back to his corner.  Nely tags in and goes after Punk but Punk catches him with a springboard clothesline, flattening Nely.  Tag to Kane and Kane goes after Chavo Guerrero, slamming him backfirst into the corner and following up with punches.  Big boot by Kane and a back body drop sends Chavo flying up into the air.  Clothesline to Chavo and Kane follows with a side slam.  Kane signals for the choke slam but Nely beats him to the punch.  Kane sends Nely out of the ring and knocks Chavo down again before hitting a flying clothesline off the top rope.  Tag to Punk who hits a leg lariat.  Running kneelift to Chavo.  Chavo counters a bulldog but Chavo gets hit with an enziguri.  Kane goes after Nely before he can interfere again and Punk hits the Go to Sleep (GTS).  Cover on Chavo and it's over.

WINNERS:  Kane & CM Punk (Punk pins Chavo).
