ECW Real Time Report: Match By Match Coverage

By Mike Rickard II
Jul 8, 2008 - 7:49 PM

...

Last week, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry flattened Colin Delaney's bid to win an ECW title shot for his mentor Tommy Dreamer.  What will be the fallout this week?  Also, newcomer Atlas Ortiz dazzled Armando Estrada en route to his debut in-ring win.  You can be sure that Estrada is at the end of his rope as he battles to win a contract on ECW.  Will ECW General Manager Teddy Long give Estrada any more chances or has his luck run out?

ECW is coming to you from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Tonight, Tommy Dreamer faces ECW champion  Mark Henry in a non-title match.

The WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison and the Miz are in the ring.  Miz tells the fans they're not used to seeing "Hollywood A-listers" in these parts except for Sean Penn boarding up windows.  Morrison tells the ladies to be quiet.  He knows the ladies would rather have their bodies than their words. Just then, Finlay's music plays and he appears.

Finlay tells the champions that he doesn't think anyone came to listen to them run their mouths.  They'd rather see someone shut their mouth.  Morrison tells Finlay "Mr. Loves to Fight Because He Can't Wrestle" he has no idea what the fans want.  He mocks Finlay and his son as Finlay walks down the aisle.  Just then, Hornswaggle sneaks fom under the ring and appears with a water gun.  Hornswaggle sprays Miz and Morrison with the water gun, forcing them out of the ring.  As they do, Finlay blasts Morrison with the shillelagh,  Miz ducks the attack and the champions bail out.

1.  Miz (w. John Morrison) vs. Finlay (w. Hornswaggle):  During the commercial break, ECW General Manager Teddy Long signed an impromptu match.  Finlay starts off strong, dominating Miz.  However Morrison distracts Finlay and Miz takes advantage, going to work on Finlay's arm and shoulder.  However Finlay counters a backdrop and clotheslines Miz, covering him for a two count.  Finlay is favoring his arm but he perseveres.  Miz whips Finlay into the corner and follows up with a kneelift.  Finlay falls down as Miz stomps away.  Outside, Morrison has the shillelagh but Honswaggle stops him with a running kick.  Hornswaggle goes in the ring as Miz goes after him.  Finlay sees Miz distracted and hits the Celtic Cross, getting the win.

WINNER:  Finlay (by pinfall).
