Welcome to the first ECW report of 2010. I am excited for this new year in the world of wrestling especially after last nights debut of the TNA v.s. WWE Monday Night War which saw Hulk Hogan debut for TNA and bring them their highest ratings yet along with bringing some familiar faces such as Ric Flair, The Nasty Boys, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman and Jeff Hardy. On the WWE's side we simply had one man come back after a 12 year hitatus after being screwed in the most well known "shoot" incident in pro wrestling history. Of course I am talking about my hero and favorite in ring wrestler of all time, Bret Hart.

I am hoping that starting tonight we will see WWE focus a little bit more on making the ECW brand a must see program like it was in the past. I am hoping that their new years resolution is to knock my socks off and make this show something worth bragging about again. I want to see stars being created and maybe a few suprises along the way like an experimental Yoshi Tatsu or Ezekial Jackson title run while they are still on the show that doesn't have a man named HHH on it.

One last thing I would like to mention before I begin the report is that I am proud to be a part of World Wrestling Insanity and I am not leaving the site just because I landed a nice gig at www.GeekWeek.com due to my friendship with a Mr. Jeff Katz. I plan on being here as long as I can continue to watch wrestling without cringing which here lately has been a real task. I am a life long fan and hope to be until I die. Thanks to everyone that has checked out Geek Week and keep your eyes peeled because you never know which TNA superstar or Hollywood celeb might be popping up on there to showcase their geek passions in the near future.

We began tonights show with the ECW Champion, Christian out for an in ring interview discussing the ECW Homecoming tournament where we will crown a new number one contender for his title at the Royal Rumble. CM Punk and Drew Gallows come out and interupt him. They took turns running each other down. Punk says that he intends to gain every title he can to prove that "He is better than you!" He plans on being the role model for the future of ECW and showcase the "Straight Edge" way. Christian tells him that he should take a shower and makes it clear to Punk that he will not beat Mark Henry tonight and move on in the tournament.

ECW Homecoming Tournament Match

Shelton Benjamin v.s. Chavo Guerrero

Chavo is actually a former ECW champion so this might be a more even match than most would realize. Chavo's credibility was killed this past year in his feud with Hornswoggle where he lost to the midget in every single encounter they had. I would predict that Shelton will be the one that gets the title shot at the Royal Rumble since he never got his rematch after him and Christian's amazing ladder match from a few months ago. Shelton picked up the win after a back and forth match that wasn't very long. He hit the Paydirt out of nowhere to stop Chavo in his tracks and advance on in the tournament to next week's Over the Top Rope battle royal Homecoming final.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Zack Ryder comes out to cut a promo. He talks about Dreamer being "dead and gone" and he says that he done the impossible by "stopping the heart and soul of ECW" in Dreamer. He says ECW had it's course changed and that he is now the core of ECW.

-

Vladimir Kozlov v.s. Ezekial Jackson

This is a match that has been building for a long time. They began their interaction by destroying jobbers and coming out to one up each other. They joined William Regal and formed a tag team called the Ruthless Roundtable. Finally out of no where they started to implode by walking out on each other in matches and even almost come to blows. Tonight should determine who the better big man is. Regal came out to the ring with Jackson instead of Kozlov showing where he stands. The announcers claim that Regal and Jackson decided that Kozlov was the weakest link in their stable. The crowd was dead because they have no idea who to cheer or boo. The match itself isn't too bad, they stick to their strong points hitting power moves and strikes. Jackson picked up the clean win after hitting his Uranage Slam. Regal and Zeke pick up Kozlov and taunt him after the match.

Winner: Ezekial Jackson

Backstage we saw Mark Henry warming up with former manager Tony Atlas comes in to ask Mark if he could escort him to ringside like old times. Mark looks at Tony who begins his trademark laugh until Henry shakes his head and says "NO!" and walks out of the locker room as Tony appears shocked.

ECW Homecoming Tournament Match

CM Punk (w/Drew Gallows) v.s. Mark Henry

Both men are recent former ECW champions. Alot has changed since then as they have reversed roles on who is the face and who is the heel now as well as being on different rosters. Punk has the advantage with the speed and technical ablility while Henry has the overwhelming power advantage and could win at anytime with a simple smash mouth move. Punk avoids taking too much damage and his stamina helps him gain the momentum until Henry "hulked up" and began his offense until Drew Gallows grabbed Henry when the ref wasn't looking and drove his throat across the top rope and Punk followed up with a right roundhouse kick to the head for the three count.

Winner: CM Punk
