TNA Impact! Go Home to Slammiversary

By Tommy Harvey Jun 10, 2010 - 8:31 PM

Tonight, we get the final build going in to Sunday night's Slammiversary.

Out first to start the show is AJ Styles, Desmond Wolfe, Kazarian, and Beer Money.  AJ says when he arrived, he found out they were in an 8-man tag match.  But the problem is that there are 5 people standing in the ring.  He has a solution for the problem and tells Kazarian to get lost.  The Nature Boy's music hits, but Jay Lethal comes out doing the Flair gimmick again.  He does a phenomenal job of it too.  He acts like he's Flair and tells AJ that he is no Nature Boy.  This guy is pure gold!!!  He rips off the jacket and elbow drops it on the ramp like Slick Ric would do.  Wooooooooooooo!!!!!  Tonight's 8-man tag match will be Lethal, Abyss, and Mr. Anderson.........Anderson will take on all 5 guys in the ring.  AJ says Lethal is an idiot because he only has 3 guys.  Flai...er Lethal says AJ can't count because Abyss is so big he counts as 2.  They hit the ring and start brawling.  Jeff Hardy comes out and helps out.  Tonight it will be Lethal, Anderson, Abyss, and Hardy against 4 of the other guys.  I guess we will find out later who it will be.

Backstage, Brian Kendrick is talking nonsense and says he will take over the X-Division.  Commercial.

Out to the Impact Zone comes Kendrick.  And we have a Homicide sighting.  Doug Williams comes out to do commentary.  The crowd is behind Homicide in this one.  Cide hits his normally aggressive offense, Kendrick gets his leg kicks in, and Williams runs down the X-Division style.  Homicide grabs a screwdriver from under the ring.  As the ref is taking it away from him, Kendrick blindsides Homicide with a kick to the head and picks up the 3-count.

Backstage, security is trying to break up a fight between Jesse Neal and Brother Ray.  Commercial.

Back from the break, Neal calls Ray out to the ring.  Ray comes to the ring, but security tries to prevent him from getting in.  He grabs a mic and tells Jesse to talk.  Jesse tells Ray if he has a problem he needs to talk to him.  He asks why Ray has been putting cards on them after attacking them from behind.  Ray says he doesn't know what he's talking about, but tells Neal he has become arrogant and big headed.  Jesse says he has always respected Team 3D and has always given them their credit.  Ray tells Jesse that he's a nobody and calls him a naval failure.  He tells him that after Slammiversary that he will be a failure in the wrestling business too.  He then tells Shannon to say something if he has something to say.  Shannon tells Bubba that he's the biggest douchebag on the planet.  He tells him to take his puppet (Devon) and get out of the ring.  Devon tells Shannon he will give him a pass because of Jesse, but he never liked Shannon from the get go.  Devon tells Ray to get his head on straight and leave Jesse alone.  Devon walks out and Ray hits Jesse from behind.  Commercial.

Back from commercial, we get the Impact exclusive replay of Sting vs Jeff Jarrett at Sacrifice.  This is a time filling waste of time.  I guess they don't have enough talent to fill up 2 hours...whatever.  Where are the Machine Guns?  Where is The Pope?  Where is Amazing Red?  Where is Joe?  By the way...did we ever find out who kidnapped him a few months ago?  This is why TNA is not on par with WWE and cannot garner a big enough following to be able to compete.  WWE doing this is one thing because they have a massive following, but TNA needs to put together a full show in order to win fans.  Today's generation doesn't care about Sting and Jeff Jarrett.  TNA needs to focus on their young guys and build them to be stars.  Not rehash crap that was crap 10 years ago.

Up next, we here from Jeff Jarrett about Sting's violent attack.

Backstage, Easy E is talking to Matt Morgan about his tag partner.  He tells Morgan that his partner is waiting for him at the entrance to the Impact Zone.  Morgan begins to freak out because he knows who it is.  Hmmm...Who could it be?  I smell a Hernandez return (even though he actually returned last week).Commercial.

Back from commercial, Jarrett is talking from his house about what Sting did to him and about he will miss Slammiversary this year.  He says he will get his answers from Sting.

Out to the Impact Zone is the Blueprint Matt Morgan.  He looks nervous and looks over his shoulder for his tag team partner.  Out next is Hulk Hogan.  He tells Morgan to quit crying.  He introduces his partner and out comes Super Mex.  He dives into the ring and attacks Morgan.  The Blueprint staggers out of the ring, and Hernandez goes after him.  So much for being tag team partners, right?  Hernandez chokes Morgan out with a towel and walks out.  Hogan makes the match for Slammiversary of Hernandez vs Morgan.  TNA security and trainers place Matt Morgan on a stretcher and begin to carry him out, but The Band makes their way out.  Scott Hall looks rough.  Eric Young makes the quick pin and they head out.

In the back, Christy Hemme interviews RVD. She asks about his strategy when he knows of Sting's unpredictable nature.  Sting comes from behind and attacks RVD.  Sting picks up the TNA Heavyweight Title and walks off with it.  Commercial.

Man, tonight's show has been very light on the wrestling.

Back on Impact, TNA officials are checking on RVD.  He takes off to get his belt back.

Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring for his first action since his return a few weeks ago.  He grabs the mic and says that this Sunday his first victim in the TNA top 10 will be Kazarian.  To prepare himself for a match like that, he says he will take on the greatest X-Division wrestler on the planet.  Out comes Amazing Red.  So that's where he is tonight.  Where are the rest of the guys that should be getting time?  Kurt does a good job of selling for Red, but looks kind of awkward against a much quicker opponent.  Red in turn does a very good job in selling the power of Angle.  Red gets a ton of offense in this one, and Angle does a good job in making Red look like a viable competitor.  Eventually, Angle catches Red with The Olympic Slam for the win.  He helps Red to his feet and they hug it out.

Backstage, Sting says he's in possession of the title now, but Sunday he will own it.  He says on Sunday the veil will be lifted from everyone's eyes and the belt represents deception at the moment, but change is coming.  Commercial.

Back from commercial, we get a Slammiversary video package.  Dear God, can we get some action tonight?  Please?  Pretty please with sugar on top?  This is like a 2 hour version of WWE Superstars tonight.

Backstage, RVD is looking for Sting.  Commercial.

Ugh!  Tonight's show is absolutely brutal.  I'm about to fall asleep just watching it.

Back in the Impact Zone, the team of AJ Styles, Desmond Wolfe, and Beer Money make their way to the ring for the 8-man tag match.  Flair is not in the building tonight and Kaz is not out with the rest of the group.  Out next is Jay Lethal, Abyss w/ Chelsea, Mr. Anderson, and Jeff Hardy.  It looks like they are giving this match some time.  Roode and Lethal start this match.  The ring is way too crowded here.  I'm glad they are utilizing the uber talented Jay Lethal.  There's going to be way too many tags to document here, so I'm just going to give the main points (assuming there are any, considering what we've already seen tonight).  There are definitely some interesting potential matchups with the participants in tonight's main event.  This match breaks down several times and the referee loses control alot.  Hardy has been in the ring for the majority of the match.  He finally gets to Lethal and he comes in with a fury until Desmond Wolfe comes in illegally.  Anderson comes in and takes him out, Storm takes Anderson out, Abyss takes Storm out, and Wolfe comes back in and takes Abyss out.  He then yells at Chelsea to give him the chair.  Abyss hits the chair out of his hand and into his head.  AJ springboards back in onto Abyss.  AJ counters Lethal and hits a powerbomb and the Styles Clash for the win.   This match definitely got crazy at the end.  I don't know who were the legal guys.  Just Youtube it if you wanna see it.

Backstage, Sting tells RVD to keep searching for him because it's all about deception.  Commercial.

As we return to the subpar Impact, RVD continues his search for Sting.  Sting comes up from behind and attacks him again.  RVD fights back and they fight into the concession area.  This fight goes under the Impact Zone seating and finally onto the ramp and to the ring.  Van Dam chokes Sting with his own trenchcoat.  RVD goes for a chair and plants it in between the top and second rope.  Sting trips RVD face first into the chair and then smashes him with the chair.  He grabs the mic and tells RVD the belt is his until the Sunday and tosses the belt on Van Dam's chest.

That's it for tonight's incredibly dull show.  There aren't many times you are able to say Impact is boring.  Unwatchable at times?  Yes...but not deathly boring.
