Mike Rickard's TNA Impact Report

By "Memorex" Mike Rickard Jul 2, 2009 - 6:51 PM

Last week, the Main Event Mafia gave former godfather Sting the boot and Kurt Angle cut a deal with TNA Majority Shareholder Mick Foley only for Foley to change the deal.  Tonight we'll see the ramifications as the Main Event Mafia make an appearance.

Before the match, Lethal throws his ring gear at former love So Cal Val.  Val throws the gear down in seeming disgust.

1.  "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs. Johnny Gordado:  Undaunted by his run-in with So Cal Val, Lethal gets the duke.

WINNER:  Jay Lethal (by pinfall).

PROMO:  The Main Event Mafia is in the ring.  Godfather Kurt Angle tells the fans that Sting won't be there but makes a point to remind the Stinger that the beatdown wasn't personal, it was just business.  Angle calls out Mick Foley who hits the ring accompanied by his bodyguards Rocco and Sally Boy.  Foley's bodyguards soon get beat down, leaving Foley to deal with the Mafia.  Angle tells Foley he can play Let's Make a Deal and offers Foley three choices for the Victory Road PPV :

1.  Get beat by Kurt Angle.

2.  Wrestle Booker T.

3.  Wrestle Kevin Nash.

Angle lets Foley know that he can also choose what's behind the curtain and it's Samoa Joe!

Foley picks #1 then attacks Angle.  Unfortunately he's no match for the entire Main Event Mafia and he's soon beat down.  Fortunately for Mama Foley's Baby Boy, Jeff Jarrett runs in for the save.  Unfortunately for Foley, Jarrett then blasts him over the head with the guitar.  It's just not Mick's night tonight!

2.  Main Event Mafia (Booker T & Scott Steiner) vs. Team 3-D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon):  During the match, TNA Tag Team Champions Beer Money Inc. (Robert Roode & "Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm) provide color commentary.  The Mafia get the upper hand after a run-in from the British Invasion.  Meanwhile, Sheik Bashir and Kiyoshi lay out Beer Money Inc.

WINNERS:  Scott Steiner & Booker T (Booker T pins Brother Ray).

3.  Eric Young vs. Rhino w. Jesse Neal:  Eric Young's heel turn continues as he gets the 1-2-3 victory over Rhino by putting his feet on the ropes.

WINNER;  Eric Young (by pinfall).

PROMO:  Despite the brutal beatdown he suffered last week, Sting is in the ring with Kurt Angle's TNA Title.  Sting calls out Samoa Joe and demands to know who is telling Joe what to do.  Joe tells Sting he'll find out at Victory Road . Sting warns Joe that he's going to find Joe's advisor and tear him apart, then feed him to the fans.

4.  X Division Title Shot Briefcase (Ladder Match):  Homicide vs. Doug Williams (Briefcase Holder): Team 3-D pay the British Invasion back for interfering in their match tonight by interfering in Williams' match, allowing Homicide to retrieve the briefcase X Division title shot.

WINNER:  Homicide (retrieves briefcase).

After the match, the British Invasion attack Team 3-D until Mick Foley and his new security force run in for the save.

PROMO:  TNA Majority Shareholder Mick Foley is in the ring.  Foley tells the fans that TNA needs one person calling the shots, not two.  Jeff Jarrett makes his way out and the two bicker with Jarrett accusing Foley of endangering TNA's future by chasing after the TNA belt.  Foley tells Jarrett that he has to prove to himself that his TNA title win wasn't a fluke and that means he'll have to wrestle Angle.  The two eventually come to an understanding with Foley booking a non-title match between Jarrett and Angle.  Jarrett then adds Foley to the match as well as a special referee who Angle can select as long as it's not Matt Morgan nor a member from the Main Event Mafia.

5.  Jethro Holliday vs. Jesse Neal:  Neal's wrestling education continues tonight with a loss to Holliday.

WINNER:  Jethro Holliday (by pinfall).

6.  Beer Money Inc. (Robert Roode & "Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm) vs. the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley): Scott Steiner & Booker T provide color commentary during the match.  Beer Money Inc. picks up the win after hitting the DWI (Drunk While Investing) on Alex Shelley.

WINNERS: Beer Money Inc. (Roode pins Shelley).

After the match, Beer Money Inc. talk trash with Steiner and Booker.

7.  Tara vs. Velvet Sky w. Angelina Love (Knockouts Champion) & Madison Rayne:  Tara gets the win after hitting the Widow's Peak on Sky.

WINNER:  Tara (by pinfall).

After the match, Tara threatens to place her pet tarantula on Sky unless Love agrees to give Tara a Knockouts Title shot.

8.  TNA Knockouts Title Match:  Tara vs. Angelina Love (Champion) w. Madison Rayne: Despite already having wrestled, Tara puts in a strong performance against Love.  Rayne tries to help Love win the match but the referee orders her to the back.  Tara hits the Widow's Peak on Love and covers her to become new TNA Knockouts champion.

WINNER:  New TNA Knockouts champion Tara (pins Angelina Love).

9.  Kevin Nash & Matt Morgan vs. Christopher Daniels & A.J. Styles: Styles and Daniels use a lightning fast offense to get the win over the two big men.  Styles and Daniels hit a dual Frogsplash and BME Best Moonsault Ever (BME) on Morgan, sealing his fate.

WINNERS:  Daniels & Styles (Styles pins Morgan).

After the match, Nash & Morgan sneak attack Styles and Daniels.  They shove Daniels' arm into a chair then smash down on the folding chair.  Styles clears the ring with the help of a chair of his own but the damage has been done to Daniels!

10.  Triple Threat Match:  Mick Foley vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. TNA World Champion Kurt Angle (non-title match) Special Referee: Eric Young-Angle picks Young as special referee, a choice that spells the end for Foley after Angle locks Foley in the ankle lock and Young calls for the bell even though Foley hasn't quit.

WINNER: Kurt Angle (by submission).

After the match, Jarrett attacks Young and the two battle their way backstage.  In the ring, Foley is laid out by Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle.  The rest of the Mafia run in with barbed wire bats to beat down Foley further.
