Insanity Readers and Staff Choose: 2007's Heel of The Year
By World Wrestling Insanity's Readers & Staff
Dec 27, 2007 - 2:48 AM

What good is a hero without a villain to antagonize him?  Not much of one.  Luckily, pro wrestling has its share of bad guys to keep them busy.  Some say there's no honor among thieves, but they do deserve one honor.  This one.

2007 Reader's Choice for Heel of the Year is...

Randy Orton

2nd Place:  M.V.P.
3rd Place:   Edge

Reader Comments:

"In a year when the options were running low on Raw, the torch was passed to Orton (see what I did there?). Orton has played his roll spectacularly. From evolving from Rated RKO when feuding with DX to becoming the top heel in the company, it was a great year for Orton. After being teased as the future champion for a while, he's showing that his second world title run was worth the wait."
- Ernie Ballard

"While Edge still plays the best heel out there, he was on the sidelines for a chunk of the year. Randy really stepped up his game to be a convincing monster heel, having done some serious damage to both John Cena and Triple H this year, the company's two top faces - although the last month or so working with Shawn Michaels has weakened him somewhat."
- Sarah Daigen

"The guy gets heat and I mean MAJOR HEAT whether it's on the net, in the locker room, or the astounding boos from the crowd, but the fact remains when he's out there, everybody's watching.  Orton is the man and he's a bad guy."
- Ben Davis

2007 Staff Choice for Heel of the Year is...

Edge

2nd Place:  Randy Orton
3rd Place:   Ken Kennedy, Vince McMahon, M.V.P. (tie)

Staff Comments:

" Edge is just perfect at what he does. He can talk, to the point where his opponent feels like a chump. He can be a jerk and isn't afraid to show that side of his character. And in the ring, he doesn't shy away from faces beating the shit out of him, which is the one trait a heel should have above all else. This is the guy who should have headlined WrestleMania last year, and if they hold it off long enough, I fully expect him to face Undertaker in the co-main event of next year's event. As a wise man once said... BANK ON IT!"
- Canadian Bulldog

"Randy Orton got a monster push from the WWE and it’s clear management considers him their number one heel.   Orton deserves his share of the credit for getting to the world championship but he still has a lot to prove.   On the other hand, Edge seemed to get a lot more heat without the company pushing him.   Playing a heel comes so easy to Edge and his matches continue to get better.   Whether or not he can stay healthy is the only thing keeping him out of the top spot in the WWE in 2008."
- Mike Rickard

" He did it all for the nookie."
- Crazy Uncle Ralph
