Readers and Staff Agree. 2007's Match of the Year is...
By World Wrestling Insanity's Readers & Staff
It's all about the wrestling. That's what brought us to the dance and that's what people continue to tune in for. The stories, gimmicks, and characters are all here to see you the matches. Which one stood out above all others this year? One in particular was the top pick by both staff and readers.
2007's Match of the Year is...
Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena
Readers
"What made this match truly special is that I'm not a John Cena fan. At least, I wasn't before this match. Sure Shawn Michaels can carry anyone but he didn't do that here. Both he and John put on a great and unexpected match on free television."
"This match did the impossoble. It made me look forward to the next week's Raw. WWE showed that they can still promote wrestling on television instead of explosions and cartoons."
"When was the last time a match on Raw went an hour? Absolutely unbelievable. And this wasn't even all Michaels carrying the match, as it has often been. Both men brought their "A" game and put on a great show."
Staff Comments:
"
It took balls for RAW to put this out there on free TV. Smackdown had the hour long match before, but that was an Ironman match. This was only one fall. It could have ended after 20/30 minutes and no-one would have betted an eyelid, but they went out there and had one of the best hour long matches of any kind that I have personally seen, and certainly one of the best in recent times outside of ROH."
"I sat back and watched most of the matches that where listed in the poll on the boards. Really, this match was great...especially for a Free TV match." Check Back For the results of Wrestler of the Year.
