Insanity Readers and Staff Choose: 2007's Tag Team of The Year
By World Wrestling Insanity's Readers & Staff
Is tag team wrestling a dying artform? Maybe, but you wouldn't know it from the two teams that won this year's honors. You voted. We voted. Here are the results. 2007 Reader's Choice for Tag Team of the Year is... Matt Hardy and M.V.P.
2nd Place:
The Motor City Machineguns
"They are the only tag team that stood out to me this year and the fact that they were feuding while Tag Team Champions mad it even better."
"OK so they weren't the most cooperative team in the ring, but Hardy and MVP were the most entertaining thing on TV for weeks on end. The feud was great and while they were Tag champs the exchanges between them were at their best. In a year when the Tag Team divisions again slipped even further down WWE's radar, Hardy and MVP were a rare highlight."
"I didn't like MVP when the year began. Now, I'm a fan. It was all because of this tag team. Who would have thought that teaming with their enemies would be what these two needed in order to get people interested in them? Not me. But it worked."
2007 Staff Choice for Tag Team of the Year is...
The Briscoes
2nd Place:
Lance Cade and Trevor Murodch
"
It's hardly been a banner year for tag teams as WWE continue to do what they normally do with tag teams, after a promising start at the beginning of the year, while TNA's vaunted tag division has desended to such joke levels that it seems as though every team is fight with each other outside of LAX, MCMG and 3D. So, it's outside the little box that is my world and I have to go with the Briscoes, because what I've seen of them, they've had a breakout year this year, and it will surely only be a matter of time before someone picks them up"
"There was no other tag team in 2007 that was better at what they did than the Briscoes. Yes, they have a "love it or hate it" style...but when you see them wrestle you can see just how great they could be if they held off a little bit.
There was no other tag team in any other promotion in the entire world that was given the type of run on top that the Briscoes were given in Ring of Honor this year. Not only that, but they traveled the world in an attempt to prove themselves as being the best...racking-up victories in Europe and Japan to add to their impressive resume in North America. What some may see as "show-boating" in their style, I see as them simply wanting to give their fans the most exciting match on the card each and every time they step into the ring. They lost matches when it helped put over a feud, they put over teams in smaller indie feds to help put them over, and put their bodies on the line on more than one occasion just to get a pop from the fans. No other team even comes close this year."
"
If you haven't seen the Briscoes in action, do yourself a favor and order a ROH pay per view already. They have easily had the best matches on these shows BY FAR. If you have seen them in action and voted for someone else, you need to go get your head examined ASAP. No one in any promotion has come close to touching the Briscoes as a tag team act this year."
"While ECW has really sparked a revival of tag team wrestling, the WWE didn’t do much with its tag teams in 2007 compared to ROH and TNA.
Even though they don’t get a lot of exposure, I think the Briscoe Brothers’ work in 2007 was so good that they deserve the nod this year."
