Insanity Readers and Staff Choose: 2008's Worst Storyline...
By World Wrestling Insanity's Readers & Staff
Dec 29, 2008 - 12:56 PM

Stories are supposed to fun.  They're supposed to have witches and big bad wolves.  Not in this category.  In this category, the stories are the opposite of fun.  They're unfun.  Like what?  Glad you asked...

2008 Reader's Choice for Worst Storyline of The Year is...

Kane vs. Rey Mysterio

2nd Place:  Mr. McMahon's Million Dollar Mania
3rd Place:   The Main Event Mafia vs. TNA Frontline

Reader Comments:

"It was just a stupid storyline, I mean did Kane kidnap rey? How did Rey escape from Kane? The storyline just didnt make much sense and wasn't explained very well."
- emmie456

"He said he massacred Rey, scarred him for life, and beat him to pulp. He talked about it for weeks, and weeks, and weeks. And then, Rey came back, and he was fine. No scars, no marks, perfectly freaking fine. How the hell can anyone take Kane seriously or even be remotely afraid of him when he clearly cannot harm anyone? And why does Kane never take off Rey's mask? He's had a hundred opportunities and never done it. Kane is the biggest liar in the company, and as it looks, the least threatening of all the characters."
- Adam Airforce

""Is he alive or dead?"/"Something in my sack" -- what a waste of time ."
- Martin

2008 Staff Choice for Worst Storyline of The Year is...

T.N.A. - All of It

2nd Place:  Karen Angle/AJ Styles/Kurt Angle Love Triangle Thing
3rd Place:
Larry Sweeney's "Rape" Angle, Punk vs. Orton,  (tie)

Staff Comments:

" From the Prince Justice Brotherhood to the horrible follow-up of Dutt vs. Lethal to Abyss’s humanization to ODB taking over for Karen Angle on a talk show…I can’t place a finger on just one horrific storyline that TNA did because they sucked all year long."
- ZAH

" Narrowing this down to just one is difficult as there have been such goodies as the Vince McMahon million dollar giveaway and subsequent "injury" of his at the hands of falling debris. Others include The Great Khali and his kiss cam, Hornswoggle in general, Kizarny, etc. But I managed to narrow it down to the one I thought was worst.......

TNA.

Yes, just TNA as a whole. You see, in order to proclaim yourself a company based on Total Nonstop Action, logic dictates that you have ACTION on your show. That is what the name means by definition. So I cannot fathom the reason why week after week, during a two hour broadcast, how you can manage to only have 17 minutes or less of in ring wrestling action. Read that again, 17 minutes out of 120 minutes. That is ridiculous. Add that to the fact that almost nothing on the show makes sense to anyone except the person who wrote it. How a taped show which weekly edits matches can allow wrestlers to call Brother Ray by his old name Bubba week in and week out is mind boggling. How that same Bubba or Brother Ray can cut a promo and say, "Well if Ric Flair was champion 16 times, that means he lost 15" is ridiculous. Being that Flair is not a current champion, that means if he was champion 16 times, HE LOST 16 TIMES. Basic math learned in the 2nd grade. So TNA is by far the worst storyline in all of wrestling. I refuse to narrow it down to one specific storyline because they are just the most horrible wrestling related thing on television today and I am going to jump the gun for the next paragraph and predict something for 2009. In 2009, TNA will still be the worst wrestling related thing on TV."
