Is it a gimmick? Is it a storyline? Is it a gimmicky storyline? No idea. All we do know...is that it sucked.

"These things have been abolutely brutal most of the time. Just a bunch of celebrities shilling their products. They don't know jack about anything. It's like celebrities dress up as Mike Adamle every Monday. Only DiBiase and Ventura did well in this role. Everything else was straight up lame.

Who would have thought that something that sounded so cool would be so terrible. Jeremy Piven's SummerFest was just one of 100 times that I wondered why I was watching people who didn't care about what they were doing. More wrestling. Less B-List celebs.

I'm not against them all, some like Bob Barker or Ricky Hatton were pretty entertaining. But for all of those, you get the guys like Piven, Mini Me, the NASCAR guys and Sharon Osbourne who don't seem to know the product or express emotion at all. I'm not saying to lose the pseudo SNL style of the show, just do better with selecting the potential hosts. [What's that? Napoleon Dynamite's hosting in January? Crap!]

This would work, if you bought in the right people to do it, e.g. Jesse Ventura, Bob Barker, Shaquille O'Neal. Those two have had stints as guest host, and have been the best, but to every Ventura, Barker and O'Neal, you've had Jeremy Piven, Verne Troyer, and so much more, that I have stopped watching RAW."

I consider this a gimmick rather than a storyline because there was no connection between each guest host. The overall concept is certainly a gimmick, and having each guest host aspect of an episode of RAW being completely self-contained prevents it from being a storyline. This just reeked of Vince’s desperate attempts at getting mainstream entertainment cred, and did nothing whatsoever for the show or wrestling in general. Most were useless or godawful. Sure, there were a few good hosts. That isn’t the point. When your wrestling show centers around “What random low-level and out-of-date celebrity will show up this week,” it’s a lousy idea. When Morrison told the Miz that RAW was a bad version of Saturday Night Live, he was right!"

"If I wanted to watch celebrities, I'd stalk them...which I do. But only that Jessica Simpson. Mmmmm. Just her. Oh, and that Blossom girl. Other than them, I don't need to see no celebrities! YARGH!
