It was the storyline that made us all uncomfortable. That's right. Readers and the Staff have both voted. 2006's Worst Storyline of the Year is...
Viva La Distasteful: The Exploitation of Eddie Guerrero
Readers 2nd Place: Vince McMahon vs. God 3rd Place: Kane's May 19th Voices

"The friend vs the nephew and the widow. Using the recent death of a beloved wrestler to help get over a storyline? Sounds like a money feud to me. Oh, and did I mention the widow turned heel. On paper, it was the most dispicable feud imaginable. In practice, it was the most despicable feud imaginable. It would have been one thing to make it so Vicki and Chavo were faces, fighting to protect Eddie's name against a friend who has tried to disgrace it, but as heels......you know, I can't word it. It was horrible, it should never be done again, but we know that next time someone of the payroll dies, it will." - Blair Tyler
"I think this category was created just so we could say that the Eddie Guerrero storylines were the worst things ever done. Orton spitting on Eddie just to get Rey riled up was bad. Rey's entire reign being based on Eddie was worse. JBL had the best point in saying that they don't even chant Rey's name when they cheer or him. Then the entire situation reached the lowest point when Vickie Guerrero was brought in. I don't care if she was in financial trouble or not, that was your husband you fool, and you are disgracing his name the worst of anyone. There is a time and place to honor a person, but not use his name to better yourself. I hope Vickie realizes the error of her ways. Or at least, they play it off as a hoax and Eddie comes back alive and well. Cause that's the only way you could possibly save this situation." - Adam Airforce
"Again, another category dominated by the E with their stupid ass. This needs to stop. Seriously ." - Jason Parker
Staff Comments:
"This storyline was tasteless and buried Rey. Little good can be said about it." - Mike Da Silva
"I have very little morals. Almost none. Seriously. That said, I felt weird watching everyone feud over a guy who's really dead. Once someone passes on, that should be it. They're not characters anymore once their lives end. Someone should tell you-know-who with the big hair and yellow suit that." - Crazy Uncle Ralph
