They talked. We listened. Through all the din from in-fighting, soundbites, and Twitter plugs, there managed to be some voices of reason ringing out in 2011 during the match times. This award honors that feat and thanks them for saving our ears - even if just for a moment...

"He's quietly had a stormer of a year playing the straight man to the insanity going on around him

"It is often hard to hear him call the action and occasionally he gets wrapped up in the bickering of Booker T and Cole on Smackdown. Matthews gets my vote by default because he is an honest to God commentator. He isn't a King, a Tough Enough judge, or a sleazy a-hole. " - Brian Helmick
-
"I really hope Jim Ross doesn't win this year because Josh Matthews has been consistent while J.R. shows up now and then and floats by on everyone's memories of him. Matthews showed that there are still good commentators working regularly in wrestling. If only we could hear them more."
- Leonard Reese

Even though he was limited in his role on television in 2011, Ross still managed
to make watching Raw bearable."

I understand that “Good Ol’ J.R.” was only around for a short time in 2011, the little bit of time Ross was at the announce table just reminded everyone how great of a commentator Ross still is. There’s no one going today that can touch J.R., and hopefully we’ll get another chance of being graced by his auditory presence in the near future." -

"Jim Ross is simply the best - bar none." -
