A Look Into Miss Mallory's Crystal Ball: WrestleMania Predictions

By Mallory Mahling
Mar 26, 2008 - 9:32 AM

...

It's been a while since I've pulled out Miss Mallory's Crystal Ball and looked into the future, but with WrestleMania just days away, I figured this would be a good time to dust it off and make a few predictions.

The matches (most of them) have the potential to keep viewers on the edges of their seats. The exceptions may be the Big Show-Mayweather "match" and BunnyMania and the Lumberjacks.  It would be bitchy to say they'd both make good bathroom breaks, wouldn't it?

Okay, let's take a look at the card, including the bathroom breaks.

World Champion Edge vs. The Undertaker.

Will this be the year that the Undertaker passes the torch? If it is, Edge would be a worthy recipient of said torch. After all, it's been a lot of years since the Undertaker won his first WrestleMania match.  But with Ric Flair winding down his career at 'Mania, I don't see another high-profile superstar taking that step this year. Besides, the Undertaker's elaborate entrances have become staples of WrestleMania and are something that I look forward to each year as much as the matches. Sorry, Edge, hang in there a while longer.

WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. John Cena.

If you're not aware of this match, you've been living in a cave. Even if you don't watch Raw, you've likely heard of it. All three of these Superstars can make a good case for winning, especially Cena and Triple H who've battled back from serious injuries, but I'm picking Triple H to ascend the throne of the King of Kings (and all the other religious references he wants to throw in).

24-man Battle Royale, followed immediately by a title match with ECW Champion, Ooooo Chavo. Who will it be -- The Great Khali, Kane, Jamie Noble, Chuck Palumbo, Mark Henry, Big Daddy V, Hardcore Holly or ????

Chances are some of these guys are going to get tossed like lawn darts by the Great Khali or squashed like bugs by Big Daddy V or Mark Henry. But when the dust settles, I see Kane as the winner of both the Battle Royale and the title match.

Career-Threatening Match between Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels.

Keep the Puffs handy for this match. I predict it will be one for the ages--one of those matches that you'll always remember and one the combatants will put their hearts into. The Showstopper will definitely give Flair the first-class match he demanded. And if Flair is the one who loses and must retire, he will undoubtedly go out stylin', profilin' and ridin' away in a shiny limousine.

Money In The Bank: Ken Kennedy vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho vs. Carlito vs. MVP vs. CM Punk vs. John Morrison.

Any one of these Superstars has earned a trip up the ladder to stardom. But I'm going to pick C.M. Punk. Just because.

Batista vs. Umaga.

I'm going to pick Batista for the same reason I picked C.M. Punk. Just because I want him to win. Not scientific, but so what?

Belfast Brawl: Fit Finlay vs. JBL.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that Finlay will win with a little interference from Hornswoggle. (If JBL hadn't been so mean to Little Hornswoggle, I'd predict a swerve whereby Hornswoggle gets even with his Daddy for keeping him in the dark about his parentage.)  But swerve or no swerve, these two brawlers will tear the house down.

Playboy Bunnymania Lumberjack Match: Maria & Ashley vs. Beth Phoenix & Melina, with Snoop Dogg as Master of Ceremonies and Kim Kardashian as guest hostess.

This match has enough bunny fluff and guest stars to make it entertaining. However, I feel confident in predicting that it will not turn into a wrestling clinic.

And last--and probably least--Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather.

Previous live promos with Mayweather have been disastrous. The taped promos have been decent, but I don't think Mayweather "gets it." If this match is remembered at all, it will be because it stunk up the place, and that's not easy to do in an outdoor arena.

I know you all have your predictions, too. How will we do? Tune in Sunday night to find out.

Enjoy WrestleMania and I'll see ya back here next week.
