Mallory Looks at Divas on the "Runway"; Brock Lesnar; Celebrity Rehab; JFP; King Hulk; and the Bussey Bunch

 The Divas get Designer Ringwear

It's always nice when one of your favorite shows unexpectedly features characters from another favorite show. On tonight's episode of "Project Runway," the weekly challenge is for the designers to create outfits for several of the WWE Divas. They've had some interesting challenges so far this season, like creating outfits out of items from the Hershey store in Times Square. Lest you think the models were only wearing well-placed Hershey bars, the designers made good use of the candy wrappers and other paper and fabric products sold in the store.

If you've never watched "Project Runway," I think you'll enjoy it. It relies on "characters" as much as pro wrestling. Be sure to watch for the over-the-top personality of Christian and the delightfully funny Chris March. The feather boas are sure to be flying.

The "Diva" episode or "Project Runway" airs tonight on Bravo at 9:00 p.m. ET. Check local listings for time and channel. And if you miss it, Bravo re-airs "Project Runway" several times during the week.

 The Return of Dead Granny

He's ba-a-a-a-a-ck. Yes, that's right, the infamous wrestling wannbe, Jonny Fairplay, (who can forget his "dead granny" swerve) will be one of the "favorites" on the latest season of "Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs. Favorites," which debuts this Thursday night on CBS.

In a TV Guide Channel preview of the new season, JFP hinted at shenanigans to come. He was also confident that he would win this time. Stranger things have happened, but I'll go with my first thought: Yeah, right.

 King Hulk

Apparently Hulk Hogan reigned as King Bacchus for the Mardi Gras parade this year. There's a joke in there somewhere.

 "The Next Big Thing"

Brock Lesnar made his high profile debut in the UFC last Saturday night. He lost. Quickly. But while it was a loss for Brock, it was still a win-win situation for all concerned. Even in the very brief time Lesnar was in the Octagon, he showed that he has potential when it comes to MMA. He's just a little green. And Mir proved that he's picking up where he left off when he was sidelined a couple of years ago.

It occurred to me that Dana White would have considered Lesnar vs. Mir a success no matter how it turned out. It brought new viewers to UFC who were curious to see how Lesnar would do and who are likely to stick around.

 A Bussey Rant

I am still annoyed that TLC gave "The Bussey Bunch" the bum's rush off their programming schedule after only one episode. The first episode did a decent job of introducing the family, their wrestling business and their promotion. I enjoyed it.

TLC is a channel that thrives on shows with niche audiences. They've got shows devoted to tattoo artists and motorcycle enthusiasts, among other diverse subjects. Surely there was room for a show about wrestling (something which tends to go hand-in-hand with tattoos and motorcycles). In fact, a perfect time slot for the Busseys would have been on Thursday nights between the tales of the tattoo parlor and "American Chopper."

Now I'm not a motorcycle enthusiast, but I'm a big fan of the Orange County Chopper crew. See, ya never know who will fill the niche in an audience.

I think TLC was a little hasty. Perhaps we should write and tell them so.

 Celebrities Rehabbing

Chyna seemed to have been flying under the radar on "Celebrity Rehab" for the last few weeks, but then with Jeff Conaway hogging all the camera time with his dramatic withdrawal, it was hard to find time for anyone else. But this week viewers got to learn more about Chyna and her childhood. It was not an idyllic one.

The recurring theme for this week's episode seemed to be trying to get out the door of the rehab facility. Chyna wanted to go to a function at the Playboy Mansion. Dr. Drew Pinsky said no, and she took no for an answer.

Daniel Baldwin, on the other hand, was making up excuse after excuse to get out. It would have been comical if this were meant to be a funny show. Over Dr. Drew's objections, Baldwin finally left. There appears to be more to the story that will be revealed next week. Something about text messages with porn queen Mary Carey, also a patient.  Hmmm.

So, despite Baldwin and his departure, is the rehab working?

During a BBQ attended by family and friends, Jeff appeared to be coming out of his self-induced fog. He was remarkably coherent, and even flirting. Looking back at the first episode, he has made a remarkable transition. Of course, this is his umpteenth visit to rehab. Sooner or later, it will stick. Maybe this will be the time.

"Celebrity Rehab" airs on VH-1. Check local listings for time and channel.

Thanks for reading and see ya next week.
