Mallory Looks at Falling Leaves, Chuck Liddell, The Miz, John Morrison, and a Really Good Idea
By Mallory Mahling
I love fall, with its cool, crisp weather and colorful leaves. I also love the sense of "newness" that fall brings, especially the new TV season. Enough of the reruns…although Batista eating snails on a rerun on "Iron Chef" was kinda nice. WWE seems to be well represented on the TV dial this fall, as does MMA. UFC's Chuck Liddell has been twirling around the dance floor on ABC-TV's "Dancing With the Stars" for the past couple of weeks. I'll admit this is the first time I've watched DWTS. It's just not my cup of tea. It doesn't seem to be Chuck Liddell's cup of tea, either, but you've got to give him credit for lacing up his dancing shoes each week and being a good sport. Monday night Chuck and his dancing partner did a tango, which seemed to suit the intensity that goes along with his unusual haircut and his tats. He was able to get away with looking gruff and there was no need to smile. Smiling had been Liddell's downfall the first week when he would either smile or dance, but seemed ill at ease combining the two (sort of like walking and chewing gum). Whether he survives to dance another week will be announced on Wednesday night's show. * * * The Miz turned up on the season premiere of "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader." He was a cute little kid, as evidenced by what was probably his own 5th grade picture. The Miz was an exuberant player, but I was afraid he would break his "desk" he was smacking it so hard. When all was said and done, The Miz won $20,000 for the Make a Wish Foundation." John Morrison appeared on the second episode of the evening and confided that he was a teacher's pet in school. He won $25,000 for Make a Wish, but went for the bonus question and flunked out. Both were witty and intelligent and definitely proved that wrestlers are not muscle heads. * * * I got the following e-mail from a reader and thought it contained some compelling storyline ideas. What a pleasure it would be to watch these scenarios play out. I was reading your Raw coverage this week, and I came up with an idea. During the time I was reading about the DX/Legacy promos, I thought this: Isn't it about time for a Triple H turn again? Why not have him turn on Shawn during the HITC and join Legacy? This could be another run for him in a stable like Evolution. In the process, he could turn Cody and Ted into stars. Meanwhile, Shawn could reform DX. He could bring in the newly released Road Dogg from TNA. A New Age Outlaws reunion would be HUGE. However, I'm not sure what is going on with Billy Gunn, since I don't watch TNA. If that is not possible, bring in new stars for DX. A few ideas could be Evan Bourne, The Miz, Zach Ryder, John Morrison, and Charlie Haas. I mean Michaels and the DX stable could give these guys a good rub. Then, have the 2 stables battle each other, like the Nation vs. DX back in the day. This is an idea that could be huge.
