What's Diva Torrie Wilson doing in the steamy jungles of Costa Rica? After watching the first episode of NBC's new reality series, "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here," she seems to be fending off an ill-tempered snake in the grass named Spencer Pratt.
If you haven't seen it, the show is a poor man's combination of "Survivor" and "Fear Factor," only with D-list celebrities, including such household names as:
- The aforementioned Torrie Wilson;
- Stephen Baldwin;
- Lou Diamond Phillips;
- NBA Champion John Salley;
- Sanjaya from "American Idol";
- Political spouse Patti Blagojevich;
- VH-1 comedy duo, Frangela;
- The Oldest Living Supermodel, Janice Dickinson; and
- Heidi and Spencer from "The Hills" (sometimes referred to as "Speidi").
As the first show opened, two teams of celebs were dropped off in the Costa Rican jungle with no creature comforts, although there were plenty of scary four-, six-, and eight-legged creatures roaming a round.
Without limos or room service, this pampered bunch was forced to look after themselves and each other. That was not a problem for most of them, since the majority of the stars seemed like nice people. Even Dickinson had pulled her horns in; however, she must have been unaware that her makeup was long gone, leaving her with two beady eyes, two enormous botoxed lips, and a crepey neck.
Notice I said "most" of the stars behaved that way. Spoiled brats Spencer and Heidi were a different story. Within the first hour of the show (I skipped the second hour in order to watch Raw), Speidi had quit and come back three times. I've never watched "The Hills" (nor am I likely to do so), but Spencer is one of the most loathsome individuals ever to pass for a "celebrity."
Anyway, while Speidi was gone the first time, the rest of the cast divided up the belongings they'd left behind. As soon as they returned, they wanted their stuff back and Spencer zeroed in on Torrie (whom he said he had to Google in order to find out who she was) and picked on her for the rest of the hour, making cracks about wrestlers, muscles, and steroids, and even dropping her backpack into the river while she was swimming. How rude!
"I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here" will run Monday through Thursday for three weeks before someone is crowned King or Queen of the Jungle.
Or before the network pulls the plug.

Ya know, the Hogans would have been the perfect cast of characters to plop down in the jungle where they couldn't conveniently get away from each other.
The new season of "Brooke Knows Best" debuts on VH-1 next Sunday, June 7. Come to think of it, maybe Brooke does know best. She seems to be the only level-headed member of that family.

Chris Jericho was a guest on the Bonnie Hunt Show Tuesday and talked about his role in the WrestleMania 25 storyline involving Mickey Rourke and "The Wrestler." He was totally charming as he admitted to a gullible Hunt that he was just playing a character in a storyline when he trash-talked Rourke. He also shared stories about his five-year-old son and twin daughters.
