Mallory Takes a Look at Goldberg and Maria on "Celebrity Apprentice," Raw's Celebrity NASCAR Guest Hosts
By Mallory Mahling
Next week's RAW Co-Guest Hosts will be NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Kyle Busch and Joey Lagano. Now there's an odd couple for ya. Busch is known for his whining as much for his winning. Definitely not a fan favorite. Lagano is a winner, too. In fact, I believe he is the youngest driver in the Cup series but he's hardly a household name yet. If WWE was looking for drivers who could pop the crowd and be easily recognizable, however, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Tony Stewart or Carl Edwards might have been better choices. Carl Edwards has even done some cross-promotions with John Cena. Whatever the outcome of Sunday night's "Bragging Rights" pay-per-view, Edwards as Guest Host would have made a heck of a lot more sense and would have had a built-in storyline.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm a huge NASCAR fan, so any opportunity to see NASCAR promoted away from the track is a welcome one. But I get the feeling that whoever picked those two as Guest Hosts doesn't watch much NASCAR. * * * The next season of Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice" ought to be a good one. Why, you ask? Because the cast includes not one, but two highly-regarded representatives from the world of wrestling -- Bill Goldberg and Maria Kanellis. Three, if you count Cyndi Lauper. Having a genuine diva among the cast members is a departure from the norm on this show. While each season has had its own diva, it is usually a cast member who becomes a diva because of her bitchy, overbearing behavior (such as the poker-playing Annie Duke and the dreaded Omarosa). This season also includes a disgraced politician, former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Although a federal judge has approved Blago's participation on the show, prosecutors have expressed concerns about potential jurors watching the show. Will it affect his trial in June? Ya think???? If you watched NBC's "I'm a Celebrity -- Get Me Out of Here" several months ago, you saw Mrs. Blagojevich up close and personal as she dealt with the likes of Speidi and other creepy, crawly things in the Costa Rican jungle. She did an admirable job of being the good political wife and came across as a very likeable and sympathetic figure. Personally, I think she helped his cause. Blago could very well have that same effect on viewers. I'm just saying. Others seeking to win Trump's Celebrity Apprenticeship are "Take Home Chef" Curtis Stone, Sharon Osbourne, Darryl Strawberry, Holly Robinson Peet, Summer Sanders, Bret Michaels (and his hat), and Sinbad. "Celebrity Apprentice" will begin airing next March. * * * Thanks for reading and see ya next week.
