Mallory's Thoughts on "Celebrity Apprentice," Bill Goldberg, Diva Maria, and Reading Between the Lines

By Mallory Mahling Apr 28, 2010 - 9:30 AM

If you've been following "Celebrity Apprentice," you know Goldberg got fired last week, which left only two members of the original men's team standing (or sitting at the board table, if you will).

Diva Maria, the only wrestler still on the show, had seemed to be on shaky ground as far as the women's team went (meaning she and Cyndi Lauper spent a great deal of time butting heads).

Lucky for Maria, The Donald shuffled the remaining team members, and Maria landed on the Lauper-less team with Bret Michaels and Sharon Osbourne. As it happens, that turned out to be the best possible place for her.

The challenge this week involved celebrity workouts, which was right up Maria's alley. With the charismatic Michaels as Project Manager and Sharon Osbourne doing the fundraising, the team looked unstoppable. In fact, they were, except that the other team was better at strong-arming their friends for high-dollar donations. It's all about the fundraising, don'tcha know.

There was one moment, however, that could only be characterized as awkward. Maria has been identified as "Former WWE Diva" throughout the season. The "former" part came into play this week when Sharon Osbourne said she was headed to a meeting with Vince McMahon about a donation. Maria said nothing, although she looked like she might have something mighty interesting to say. Inquiring minds would like to know what it was, but it really wasn't any of our business. In the end, Sharon was visited on the set of Raw by John Cena (it was taped during Ozzie's stint as Guest Host). Cena brought along a very generous check from Mister McMahon, as well as his own matching personal check, to donate to the week's "Celebrity Apprentice" challenge.

In the end, the client liked the sometimes raunchy celebrity workout developed by the Bret/Maria/Sharon team best, but since the other team raised more money, they won.

But, technically, both teams won, and since it's Donald Trump's show, he can make or break the rules, and Trump decided that no one would be fired this week--a popular decision.

Whew…Maria lives to fight (with Cyndi Lauper) one more week.

"Celebrity Apprentice" airs Sunday nights on NBC. Check your local listings for time and channel.

Thanks for reading and see ya next week.
