Mallory's Thoughts on K-Fed, "Celebrity Fit Club"

By Mallory Mahling Feb 17, 2010 - 12:30 PM

This season, "Celebrity Fit Club" has returned to beautiful Castaic Lake and left the posh Southern California hillside convent behind. They also left Screech behind,  and signed up a bunch of celebs who are all serious about weight loss, and who respect Drill Sergeant Harvey. It makes for a more enjoyable show.

K-Fed is already losing weight, even at this early stage of "Celebrity Fit Club."  He is also gaining something else--respect. While most of us know him as Mr. Brittany Spears, there is obviously a more sensitive side to him. Jay McCarroll, a fellow Fit Clubber, even commented on how different the "real" Kevin is.

Jay, the first winner of "Project Runway," has been showing a different side of himself on CFC, too. Jay even felt comfortable enough to come out of the closet, so to speak. He shouldn't have worried; Jay was a fan favorite on "Project Runway."

Shar Jackson, K-Fed's ex and one of his Baby Mamas, is also on the show, which seemed like an odd bit of casting. Last week, the show's Life Coach had spoken with Shar about her feelings about being on the show with Federline, and she said she thought it might be hard to move on with him right there.

This week the Fit Clubbers sat around a campfire with the Life Coach in an effort to shed some mental dead weight. Each had brought along an object that was weighing them down and, one-by-one, they tossed those objects into the fire.

K-Fed had brought along a pair of khaki shorts with a 40-inch waist and said the more weight he'd gained, the more depressed he'd become. So far, he's six pounds into a new waist size thanks to CFC.  His pants even fell down during a challenge, displaying his behind on TV.

Shar tossed her waist cincher into the flames. Oddly, as Shar spoke, Kevin kept his head down and barely looked at her. Hmmm…seems like there might be more to that story.

As it turned out, there was a reason why K-Fed and Shar had not acknowledged each other. Shar explained that they have kept their distance on the show and elsewhere because of the tabloids.  Although they remain friends, with every tidbit of gossip captured in the tabloids, it confuses their kids about whether mommy and daddy are getting back together at a time when both have moved on. For example, Shar said that Kevin had hugged her on her birthday, and it had immediately become tabloid fodder.

Not every Fit Clubber is 100% serious about losing weight. Although everyone is given a diet plan to follow, Bobby Brown had made certain additions to his diet, thinking that because booze is liquid, it didn't count. What's a few beers and a glass of vodka when eaten with a diet salad? He seemed pleased that he'd lost ONE pound since the previous show. Someone seems to be in denial.

This series has many more weeks to go and many more pounds to lose. In addition to those mentioned above, the cast includes Nicole Eggert from "Bay Watch"; Tanisha "Pop Off" Thomas from "Bad Girls Club"; rock musician Sebastian Bach; and Kaycee Strom of "High School Musical."

Check back next week to see if Bobby Brown has stayed on the wagon or been run over by it.

Thanks for reading and see ya next week.
