RDLee's NXT Report - 3 Rookies Go Home, Find Out Who Right Now!

By RDLee May 11, 2010 - 9:50 PM

Welcome to the NXT Report, I am your reviewer RDLee. I just got done trying out the new Xbox 360 game Lost Planet 2 and can sum the experience up by saying SAVE YOUR MONEY! It's a pretty poor and cheaply made game which is surprising considering how decent the first one was. I am gonna probably trade it in this week after I do my normal achievement run first. Oh well, they can't all be winners... which leads us to tonight's NXT elimination show. We will see who stays and who goes home with their dreams of being a WWE superstar crushed for now. We are finally one step closer to finding out who the winner will be when all the dust is settled.

-

We started out with the rookies coming out to the ring to meet with Matt Striker. A replay was shown of the NXT rookies win over the WWE RAW stars last night. Michael Tarver was eliminated first and was told to exit the arena. He looked almost happy and started to scream at the crowd on his way out saying that this was "his show and got screwed over the whole time". Next Striker talked to Daniel Bryan. He was cut too for the same reason that Tarver was in the case that they both picked themselves last week as the ones who should be eliminated. Striker then told the remaining rookies that the Pro's poll will still happen tonight and that one more rookie will still face elimination!

-

Wade Barrett v.s. Heath Slater

Still, all these weeks in and Slater is my least favorite of all the rookies. I pick Wade Barrett to win the whole competition now that Daniel Bryan is gone. Wade Barrett picked up the after catching the One Man Rock Band mid air and planting him with his Fireman Carry Slam for the win. I thought that a few weeks ago Barrett won his own entrance music? I guess they forgot.... Oh well.

Winner: Wade Barrett

-

We had an interview backstage with Michael Tarver who sorta turned face and played the sympathy card in a sense by telling people they have no idea what it was like to sleep in their cars like he did. He said he was always able to make a feast out of crumbs and that's what he does best. When asked what was next for him, he stormed away upset. I am betting that he will show up as Ted Dibiase's new Virgil on RAW very soon since he seemed to plant the seeds that he is in need of a job.

-

Skip Sheffield (w/William Regal) v.s. Darren Young

I wonder why Regal is the only Pro that accompanies his Rookie every week. It defeats the purpose. Yikes, Michael Cole gave a shout out to his fans he named the "Cole Miners" during the match. Josh Matthews mocked Cole by saying "Vintage Sheffield" after Skip missed a body splash. Darren Young attempted his Full Nelson finisher but was reversed and fell victim to Skip's awesome modified Ace Crusher.

Winner: Skip Sheffield

-

Matt Striker talked to Daniel Bryan backstage who said he didn't regret leaving the independent scene because he will find a way to make it somehow. He finished by saying that Daniel Bryan might be finished but Bryan Danielson isn't! He touched on his famed history and encouraged folks to check out his past glory on Youtube instead of watching his struggles on NXT against the rookies. Nice tease by WWE who I hope takes the time to invest in Bryan regardless of his final name choice. He really did well in that interview which has been his biggest knock up to this point besides his small stature. I wonder if Aaron Wood is right about this coming Monday on RAW by assuming that Bret Hart might sub himself with Bryan for the US title match against the Miz. That would be awesome!

-

David Otunga v.s. Justin Gabriel

This match is these two rookies last chance to impress the pros before the elimination at the end of the show. Nothing really big to say about it as it was a basic match that showcased both rookies in ring styles well enough. Otunga isn't as bad as some people make him out to be in the ring. I feel he more than carries his own most of the time. Otunga won after hitting his Kozlov like Spinebuster for the finish. I wonder why WWE hasn't reached out to Otunga's fiance' Jennifer Hudson yet for a RAW guest host gig. It would certainly help both parties in the long run

Winner: David Otunga

-

Striker asked the rookies first who they think should go home. Darren Young said Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel and Skip Sheffield said David Otunga, A List said all of them should go home but Slater more than the rest since he is a wannabe, finally Wade Barrett said David Otunga too which surprised everyone. The Pro's Poll came up on the titantron and revealed the order of the rookie at this point.

Wade Barrett - 1

David Otunga - 2

Justin Gabriel - 3

Heath Slater - 4

Darren Young - 5

Skip Sheffield - 6

So it's official, Skip Sheffield has been eliminated. He claimed that he has been misguided since day one. He says that he should have listened to his pro William Regal from the start. Skip finished by saying that the WWE Universe hasn't seen the last of him. Next week will feature another Pro's Poll and a new elimination. See you guys then, until then, Stay Classy!
