RDLee's NXT Report - Christian & Heath Slater v.s. Christian & Wade Barrett?

By RDLee Apr 27, 2010 - 9:32 PM

Welcome to tonight's NXT report. 2 Weeks until the next Pro's Poll and one of the rookies will be eliminated. Matt Striker introduced tonight's Rookie challenge. The "Sealed Deal Challenge" and the concept is for the rookies to go out to the crowd and sell as much merchandise as they can in one minute. How stupid... Whoever wins gets to face the rookie of their choosing next week.

Skip Sheffield was first and only made $60.00.

Heath Slater and Christian v.s. Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett

According to another well established site's Twitter page we were supposed to see Christian and Heath v.s. Christian and Barrett somehow. However, since that is impossible we got Jericho in place of Christian number 2. LOL.

I am still not a fan of Slater and was hoping to see him drafted to the unemployment line during today's Supplemental Draft. There is something about Slater that makes me want to punch a old lady in the kidney's or something. He is talented in the ring but his character is lame and he looks like Julianne Moore which has been well documented.

Riding high off his victory over Jericho last week on NXT, Slater dropped the ball when Jericho hit him with a Codebreaker and got the three count. Barrett wasn't much of a factor tonight.

Winners: Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett

Daniel Bryan was next in the rookie challenge and didn't make any money because he decided to toss out the programs for free. Michael Cole called Bryan a tool to which Josh Matthews replied that Cole was a tool box then.

Carlito was shown talking to his rookie Michael Tarver outside the arena in the parkling lot. He told him that wins and losses don't mean a thing and that he can make an impact a different way under his mentorship. He told Tarver to carry his bags for him if he wanted to learn. I have a feeling that this is the start of Tarver getting eliminated from NXT first and then showing up the next week by becoming Ted Dibiase's new Virgil since they teased it last night on RAW with Carlito being asked first. It makes too much sense so it probably won't happen now...

Justin Gabriel was up next in the rookie challenge, he begged the crowd to help him win so he can show them what he was good at next week, and that is wrestling a Pro. He ended up selling 22 programs and making $210.00.

Michael Tarver (w/Carlito) v.s. Darren Young (w/Luke Gallows and Serena)

They showed a video package of Tarver before the match. I think he is the diamond in the rough out of the rookies. He has a very aggressive style, a nice look, a self marketablility and a decent character. Too bad he is stuck with the one Pro that doesn't give a shit anymore in Carlito.

Carlito stood outside the ring eating apples the whole time and looking like he was bored while Tarver and Young had a good match. Tarver lost again after Luke Gallows hit him from the outside while Darren took advantage and nailed his finisher for the win. Carlito did nothing to help his rookie. What a waste. Darren Young now is 7-2 and has the best record of the rookies while Tarver is now 0-7 and in danger of being eliminated.

Winner: Darren Young

David Otunga was next in the rookie challenge and said that celebrities don't do manual labor and had a kid in the crowd assist him. He ended up selling alot but we went to commercial before we could find out how much exactly.

Backstage we saw R-Truth, who was wearing the most awesome t-shirt ever of Bret and Owen Hart, run down David Otunga about his loss last week. He told him that if he could'nt run with the big dogs then stay off the porch. Simple but effective segment if you asked me.

Heath Slater was up next in the challenge. We found out that Otunga sold $350.00 worth of programs. No one wanted to buy from Slater and I don't blame them, I sure as hell wouldn't. He didn't beat Otunga so they chose not to tell us how much Heath made.

Darren Young was next and he asked the crowd if they wanted to help him out so they can see CM Punk v.s. Darren Young next week. Alot of people gave him money but unfortunately he did not make enough money either.

Michael Tarver was up next and he looked upset before it started. He took the microphone and said WWE should sell him and that he is the product. He won't sell anything, he walked away without trying. I loved it. He is doing the best he can without any help from his Pro and god bless him for it.

Wade Barrett was last and said he already proved himself tonight by beating Christian. He said he was gonna take the money that he is given, put it in his back pocket and leave the arena. "A List" David Otunga wins the event and gets to take on the Pro of his choosing next week on NXT. He chose to face his own pro, R-Truth. He said it was time that the student becomes the teacher.

Skip Sheffield (w/William Regal) v.s. The Miz (w/Daniel Bryan)

Miz was still visibly upset because of his Unified Tag Team Title loss last night on RAW to the Hart Dynasty. He was also sporting a massive bruise on his injured jaw after being on the recieving end of a Big Show right hand. It looks legit but I can't tell.

The Miz gets on the mic and tells the crowd he can't wrestle tonight because of his injury. He subs Daniel Bryan in for himself. And this turned out to be a joke as Skip dominated Bryan and beat him with a modified stunner finisher. I am getting tired of WWE making Bryan look like a bitch every week at this point no matter what the outcome is going to be. It's pathetic.

Winner: Skip Sheffield
