B-Boy's "State Of The Wrestling Buisness Address"
By B-Boy
"Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success." -Napoleon Hill-
Eleven years I have been wrestling and have had the privledge of traveling eight countries along with wrestling all of over the United States and have had articles on me in Filipino magazines/newspapers about my little bit of success I have had over here in the United States... For those not knowing about how a country gets behind you especially a country that sees you as a "celebrity" of sorts the amount of support and passion that follows is both humble and extradionary. The reason why I started off with this quote from Mr. Hill is basically the formula of what professional wrestling is today along with aspiring performers to one day become a professional wrestler. Lets rewind ..... For myself Wrestling has given me something that was lacking in my life before, as it gave me a goal... it gave me motivation, it gave me a dream. I was a bad kid growing up, I had no direction in life and was around the worst of worst positions anyone can be in. I had no future, had no ambition but what made me different from all my peers is that I watched wrestling and was on the recieving end on alot of jokes and snickers towards me. I always enjoyed wrestling but never envisioned myself becoming a professional wrestler. I one day out to the blue decided to try it out and enrolled in a school and the rest is history... Here I am 11 years later at what I consider the prime of my career and am over excited and humbled about being a pro wrestler. Defining moments happen in each and everyones life, mine is when I became a pro wrestler as this business obviously has it's goods and bads. For me I never catch myself on the bads or let the bads go because for me the goods this biz has done for me is more then leaps and bounds. This business gave me the formula of trying to be successful, it gave me the ambition and the motivation to make me someone I can be proud of, someone my parents can be proud of. This business made me grow up and REAL fast due to the nature of how this business is a) ran and b) can get to you. A teenager or someone "green" can easily be confided to themselves and get overly zealous about just wanting to be famous, for me it was diffrent. For me the business gave me more then that... the first lesson learned and main attribute I have now and will always have that this biz gave me was respect. Respect for people and respect for myself. Every failure that may happen within yourself along with your career always gives u an option to redeem yourself and make yourself better and that statement is what wrestling does to you. People might disagree with me but this business is made for you to succeed, to have you fail then give u the option to succeed again. It's a never ending cycle. The businesss hurts you, emotionally.... mentally... physically. Friends stab you in the back, girlfriends tend to mess around with your friends and both of them do the same to each other. Its the realism of how this business can BREAK you, it tests you and sees if your strong enough to keep on with your career in professional wrestling. I myself have taken time off as everyone should do, in that time you tend to think alot, because being in a business as complicated as professional wrestling you find out even more on who you are as a person and what this business gives you in life. It's really amazing how a career in peoples eyes is "fake" or "phony" or not considered a job that has noterity as being a doctor can give you so much more then wealth. I mean lets face it being and independent wrestler isn't the wealthiest of jobs, but the job gives you more the money. It give you life long lessons that you need to succeed in life. So let me re-quote this , "Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success." to me, this quote is the perfect symbolism of Professional wrestling. Fast Forward....
