The ALL NEW Hot Threads: 2.21.11, Your Vision For TNA, Avatar of The Week, The Random Band Generation Game, Bulldog vs. Wood, and More

By Jessie "Squeaky" Brazil, Corey "TheGreatWhiteDope" Letson, and Emmett "The Green Teabagger" Gore Feb 23, 2011 - 7:01 AM

JG Note: The World Wrestling Insanity Message Board debuted on September 29, 2005.  Since then we've had discussions ranging from serious to silly to "what the f**k are you smoking?!"  Now, three of our long time board members join together to present a new weekly look at all that goes on in the Insanity Forums with our brand new compilation of "Hot Threads"!

THEGREATWHITEDOPE

Imagine the surprise that with a Presidents Day Weekend full of wrestling events that the WWI message boards were on fire in the WWE section. Something so big was happening that it dominated two separate conversations. First up was the speculation to 2-21-11.

RD Lee

According to the latest rumor mill it is looking like the plan is now Undertaker v.s. Triple H in a streak v.s. career match at WM27 with HBK as special guest referee.

I can't believe I am saying this but I actually have zero interest in this happening at Wrestlemania.

TheMan6201

I know that'd be a marque match-up (and be the real MAIN EVENT at Wrestlemania) but for me it would be a year too early. I think HHH vs Taker - Career vs. Streak would be fine for next year's event, but it would be too rushed for Mania 27. Neither man is even on TV yet, and that would be just a month build up to a BIG match. Michaels v Taker, both versions, was months in the making. To me, it makes more sense to have HHH come back to face Shaemus in a feud that goes a couple of months past Mania and have Taker come back to get revenge on his brother. Then have both take time off, only for HHH and Taker to come back around Survivor Series and plant hints at the match-up for Mania 28.

I know WWE is worried about the lack of big stars for this years event, but I hope they don't jump the gun and throw this together to provide a big match for Wrestlemania. Let the build-up to Shaemus-HHH play out. Let Taker take on Kane. Then put them on a collision course for Mania 2012.

Anthony.Analog

So HHH is going to end Takers streak? Good call WWE... he's a young talent on the cusp of superstardom who could use this victory to propel him on in his career.

Aaron Wood

To be fair, this is one Career vs. Streak match where I couldn't guaruntee HHH wanted to retire. I mean, with Flair, we knew that was the match he was going out on. Sure, he was lying his ass off, but we thought he meant it at the time. We knew that Shawn was going.

While I don't doubt for a minute that HHH is winding down, I don't think he's going to give up wrestling. Plus building on that rightful or wrongful reputation these days, there would be a bunch of smark fans out there who think that HHH would demand to go over.

Plus, it's at least a 10 anniversary of the Mania 17 match and I can't think of all that many one on one matches since. I don't think, off the top of my head, if they even had a match while sharing the roster on Smackdown, so while familiar it's also a pretty huge "new" match.

And then finally after all the speculation, after all the hype, and all the video packages came…a countdown. But to be fair the countdown was on RAW and it was only an hour. We shouldn’t complain they didn’t say 9:00pm on 2-21-11. But along with the countdown and the day and the RAW came the WWI Galaxy (copyright pending)’s response.

There was the rapping:

JohnnyCraze

Here comes the poopies

TheGreatWhiteDope

He is going to rap? Are you kidding me? HOLY CRAP!

WolfChild

Still, I liked it... Cena actually was entertaining.

There was the getting on John Cena’s case because one small fact was wrong:

JohnnyCraze

Rock wasn’t in Get Shorty

            JT

            He was in the sequel

                        JohnnyCraze

                        That’s true but it’s a different movie

Aaron Wood

It makes me rather sad that after years and years of people going "Cena should be the rapper again" and when he gives it to you, it's nitpicking of what he said that goes on. GWD has it right. Since when has wrestling been about historical accuracy?

Why can't we just sit back and enjoy what's being presented?

There was the threat of rioting:

JohnnyCraze

A ****ing countdown in the middle of a match?? Are you kidding me??!!

            TheGreatWhiteDope

More proof that it isn’t Taker alone. Too big a deal for Taker by himself.

                        Wolfchild

If it is Taker alone we riot?

                                    JT

                                    Agreed

JohnnyCraze

                                                Same here.

And finally after a month and an hour the WWI Galaxy got to 2-21-11:

JT

Three minutes til Undertaker

Wolfchild

Three minutes til possible disappointment.

Aaron Wood

Sting has a new theme song, no face paint, and is the Undertaker.

The Green Teabagger

I’ll be damned.

McGowan1715

HHH and Taker dont even have to talk to make a great match...they will leave that to Rock and Cena

The Green Teabagger

TNA.  Ahh, TNA.  What can be said about TNA?  The show that's so much of a train wreck you actually want to be in a train wreck to avoid watching it.  But deep down inside, you still care.  You still hope that TNA can turn it all around and be the legitimate #2 wrestling/sports entertainment promotion we desperately need and want.  Instead, we get the directionless, mindless drivel that has been the TNA way for a long time now outside of a few shining moments.

This has lead to an interesting question/thread posed by WWI forum member clifffside in a thread titled
What would your vision be for TNA?

cliffside:  All successful promotions have a vision, a brand, a theme to it. Whether it’s Hulkamania in late 80's WWF, Attitude in late 90's WWF, Extreme in late 90's ECW, NWO in late 90's WCW, Freebirds/Von Erichs in WCCW or Ric Flair and the Four Horseman's reign over WCW/NWA in the late 80's.

The #1 complaint I see concerning TNA is that the show is confusing mostly because there is no rhyme or reason for what TNA does. There seems to be no singular purpose, no hero, no brand.

TNA's identity used to be its X-Division and future stars like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels finally bringing something new and exciting to pro wrestling's landscape. That is no longer the case. So the questions are being asked once again....What is TNA? Why should I care?

How would you guys answer that question is you were in charge of TNA?'

There were so many good answers given to this question and some went into such great detail that it's hard to really sum everything up.

RYTMAN:  Old School Wrestling;  21st Century Attitude.

squirrelz!: --Make sure every wrestler has a background story to them. Everybody already knows that Angle is an Olympian and Anderson is some cocky jerk. What about Amazing Red? MCMG? Brian Kendrick? Why are they here? What are their goals? These are simple questions that the fans should know and some of them can easily be established just based on appearance, skill set and presence.  (Writer note:  This was one of many points squirrelz! made)

Mike Johns:  (Hey, that guy's name seems familiar.)  TNA, in a lot of ways, has always wanted to be the young, innovative company. It simply has no idea how to present itself that way. It's not just the young stars, though, it's a fresh feel. The six sided ring really fed into that. To be honest, I'd want to go for more of a Lucha/Ska/Punk feel to the overall show. Encourage more Lucha style stars and characters, hit on a musical style that's nowhere near mainstream, yet accessible enough to the audience you want to grab. If WWE is doing mainstream rock like Nickleback and auto-tune rappers and whatnot, you go more indy and punk rock and underground hip-hop. Also, cultivating characters that your audience would identify with. Giving smart-asses like the MCMG more mic time to be themselves, trying to grab up guys like Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black before WWE does. Plus, working around your strengths - namely specialized divisions.

There were also a few comedic remarks that were worth a laugh, but for you the reader you'll have to log in and check out the thread yourself to see them.  That's a tease, yes, but we can't give everything away.

If you have some ideas or would just like to make a few comedic remarks, register and join the
World Wrestling Insanity Message Boards as soon as possible.  Like.  Right now?  Go ahead.  You're already reading this.  Go ahead and join the boards!  Today!

Avatar of the Week

Here at World Wrestling Insanity, we promote individualism and expression.   And what better way to show individualismality(not a word) than to have a truly unique and interesting avatar!

We gladly present Avatar of the Week to Drewcifer !

This Sunday, the eFed for World Wrestling Insanity presented “Descent into Madness”, LIVE (theoretically) from Baltimore Maryland.   If role playing is your thing but your wife won’t put on that luchador mask even though she TOTALLY PROMISED she would on your birthday, then the eFed is for you!

DESCENT INTO MADNESS CARD

Raver vs. Hellsinger - Champions collide in a Last Person Standing Match with both the WWI and Hollywood Championship on the line.

Matt Dawgs vs. T-Dog - Good friends, better enemies, square off with the winner getting a WWI title match at Insanitymania.

Mason Case(champ) vs. Markus Ramius vs. Exx - A triple threat match for the WWI Utopian Championship.

TMJ vs. Anthony Analog – Can TMJ take down the man who possessed longest title reign in WWI history?

Wolfchild w/Dark Tornado vs. Tornado – Can Tornado stop the madman Wolfchild before it’s too late?

Alexander Phoenix vs. Vanessa Ramius – The Illuminati and Ramius family feud reaches its boiling point.

The Green Teabagger w/Midget vs. Kira – With a possible Hollywood title match on line for the winner.

Vaevictus Pendragon vs. J.D. MayfieldStun Baton on a Pole Match equals SHOCKING results!

TheGreatWhiteDope (legal name Alexander Dopenstein) introduced a band generation game to the insanity message boards.   Here’s how it works.

1. Cut a hole in a box Hit the random button on Wikipedia.   The first article you get is the name of your band.

2. Go to Quotationspage.com and hit random.   The last four to five words of the last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3. Go to Flickr.com and hit ‘explore the last 7 days’.   The third picture that comes up is your album cover.

Not surprisingly, our insanity collective came up bands that were unique, funny, and too wrong to post here .   See for yourself, and contribute some of your own.

TheGreatWhiteDope

Point Arena Light with their politically driven 90's era album "Aliens, Drunks, and U.S. Senators"

James Bullock

Called one of J-Pop's greatest composers, Ahen Senso returns in "As It Ought To Be Lived"

Aaron Wood

You asked for it, and boy, did the f***ing stars align...

Canadian Bulldog (actually from The Sudan) recently gave us two looks into the poorly executed side of wrestling.

10 Utterly Pointless Heel Turns and 10 Really Awful Wrestling Vignettes .

Both sparked quite the conversation on the boards.

First, the Pointless Heel Turns

The Green Teabagger (don’t ask)
To be fair to Ezekiel Jackson, I don't think WWE wanted him to be a face. Fans, for some reason (and really, there was none) just started cheering the guy and so they put him against the likes of Zach Ryder and Primo every week until they shifted him to Smackdown and The Corre. Maybe fans just hate Primo that much. Who knows?

Anthony Analog
I think the fans were cheering him based on his twitter posts/interaction during his time rehabbing from injury. He comes off as a really nice/funny guy on twitter, hence the face pops when he returned. IMO.

wolfchild
Loved it! But... No Rikishi? I thought his was one of the more pointless heel turns...

Canadian Bulldog
I gave the Rikishi one serious thought. But it was the kind of thing where, someone could always come back and say "Hey, he explained his turn right away, and it made some sense because he and Rock are legit related". Not that I necessarily agree with that logic -- just trying to play devil's advocate.

But it's a VERY good suggestion. Thanks!

Bundorama

You remember Eugene's 3 month heel turn a couple of years ago where he'd scream "Don't laugh at me!" to a silent crowd? Yeah, that one really worked out....

wolfchild

I'd like to see ... Wrestling Gimmicks that went on too long. (I'm sure there's more than ten, but whatever)

Anthony.Analog

Does Jeff Jarrett's entire career count?

And now, the truly Awful Wrestling Vignettes

Squeaky

I couldn't finish the Sid/Vader one. It was too awful.

wolfchild

Wow... Vader/Sid. I shouldn't have watched it... Just, wow... But I couldn't stop... And now I have a headache...

Canadian Bulldog

They're not called The Masters Of The Power Bomb for nothing.....

James Bullock

Even as a kid, I LMAO regarding the Spin the Wheel, Make a Deal and Beach Blast promos. Yet, I still wanted to see those shows live (I did with Beach Blast).

Canadian Bulldog

I sure hope you didn't get too close to the exploding boat.....

James Bullock

It was many years before I grew my eyebrows back.

The Aaron Wood and Canadian Bulldog Hate Each Other POST OF THE WEEK!

Sponsored by, Conflict.   Conflict makes the world go round.

Aaron Wood

I saw that Beefcake vignette a few weeks back on Vintage Collection. It f***ing sucked.

Canadian Bulldog

Sounds like you have a lot in common with it, then.
