Hot Threads: CM Punk Kills Your Heroes, The Cerebral Executive, Jeff Jarrett Conquers Mexico, The Unoriginal Sheik, and More
It's time for another weekly look at the free Wrestling Insanity Message Boards ...
THE GREEN TEABAGGER
So yeah, I don't know if you all heard or not, but WWE had this pay-per-view this past weekend called Money in the Bank. The main event was WWE Champion John Cena defending the title against C.M. Punk on the last night of his WWE Contract. And in case you hadn't heard...
C.M. PUNK WON THE WWE TITLE!!!
So yeah, that happened. The speculation ran rampant. What was WWE going to do? Clean victory for Cena? An actual Punk win? MitB cash in? What could it be? The boards lit up with excitement.
Nasty Ned:
I think that the contract is signed but punk will lose.......take time off and show up at the rumble....win the rumble and throw a monkey wrench into the Rock/Cena.... mania match..... they can do a Cena/del rio thing until then.
-
Hellsinger: WWE Title: C.M. Punk because if Cena wins
I will Riot! Followed by Del Rio cashing in his MITB contract to become the New World Heavyweight Champion.
-
Aaron Wood: Cena vs. Punk: Punk wins the title, Del Rio comes out, says he won a title match on this show, and he's having it, Vince comes out and gets the ringside staff moving, Del Rio puts on the Armbreaker in a minute or so. Either Punk is forced to tap out, or, possibly more likely, Vince has them ring the bell, and Montreal's Punk out of the company until, say, the Rumble.
- Next night on RAW, Vince goes to fire Cena, when the RAW GM dings in and points out Vince's verbiage of Punk not leaving Chicago with the title, but since Cena failed, he's in a match with Del Rio for his career, which he wins, giving him a win over the champion to set up Summerslam. -
Herzeloid: Cena Vs. Punk - Cena wins lol. Perhaps with some swerve to it, but unless the MITB cashes at the PPV, I see Cena being champ at the end of the night.
Mike Johns:
Hi, Cynical Bastard, here, reminding everyone that we're dealing with the same crowd we have for WrestleMania 22.
You may remember that as the night everyone and their mother was looking forward to seeing HHH and Cena do a double turn in front of a horrendously pro-heel crowd that gave Mickie James (then psycho heel against TRISH) a hero's welcome, sat on their hands for Rey Mysterio (who just won the World Title for Eddie), and cheered for a guy who, less than a month before, was the WWE's most hated man by casual fan and smark alike. It also behooves you to know that Chicago is one of ROH's biggest markets, home of one of the most prolific and active Independent Scenes in Wrestling (rivaling our friends in Jersey and Philly), and notoriously pro-heel. These people HATE John Cena. More than Hammerstein. Casual fans in Philly and Jersey are at least tolerant of Cena. Not in Chicago. Every single time WWE does TV there with Cena, the man is all but booed out of the city. Every time, without fail, even up against the worst of the worst. Nexus? "Kill Cena". Miz? "Kill Cena". The Almighty H? "Kill Cena" JBL? "Kill Cena" Edge? "Kill Cena" Orton? "My God! He Might Actually Kill Cena!" In short: Hitler could walk into Chicago against Cena and... well, okay, maybe not HITLER, but someone on that level could very well walk into Chicago - Osama Bin Laden, Stalin, Mao, Marge Schott, the Leave Britney Alone Guy, whoever - and be cheered against Cena. CM Punk just makes this even more fun. -
shooting: John Cena vs CM Punk. Cena. 2 Minute match. Punch punch punch FU then STF. Punk taps then ADR wins the title
-
Mike Johns: You guys do realize this has been the single most talked-about non-Mania PPV any company has put on in at least three years, right?
I mean, look at this thread, almost a week before the show. You remember any WWE or TNA show needing its own thread a week in advance?
PeterDawson:
I dunno, I really bet that Punk will go away for a while, but will return at some point like Jericho is seemingly planning to. I really feel like ADR has earned and will get his push and this may be how he does it. He did come off damn strong Monday and has been in two really good ladder matches so far.
-
Squeaky: Buffalo Wild Wings tonight for this one. It gets the 'Mania treatment.
This is wrestling anticipation at its best, and that video perfectly sums it up. This feels like it has a sense of urgency, importance, history. Something you want to see live, not I do see Cena winning though, I just hope Punk doesn't tap out. -
aliasyoshi: This is the first time ever that I am paying for a PPV without splitting it with others. Some friends are letting us order it at their place (not wrestling fans). A part of me will die inside as I hand the money over, but a very large part of me is pumped. I really, really, REALLY hope that they continue to run with this whole thing. But I am still holding onto the fact that they very well may not.
-
Herzeloid:
The 'WWE Universe' on Facebook has been voting, and it seems that in their mush-headed droves they're all fairly sure that CM Punk will be winning tonight. I may be forced to eat a freaking GIANT slice of humble pie, but i'm saying now that there is absolutely no way Punk is walking out champ tonight.
-
Aaron Wood: He's never walking out champion. It's just a case of how he doesn't walk of the PPV as champion.
-
TheGreatWhiteDope: I'm throwing away of all of common knowledge for this one. I am putting FANBOY BELIEF into the thought/momentary reality that Punk is walking out the WWE Champion.
I just want to see it so bad. -0-0-0-00- I am watching this match as a wrestling fan....nothing more. And as a fan.....I want to be crazily entertained with moments of "HOW DID HE KICK OUT!" and moments of "HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AMAZING" throughout the match. I don't truly care how it ends as long as it is entertaining and a hell of a ride. But I will go down in flames on the CM Punk Jet until the end of time. -
James Guttman: I'm just hoping no one is sitting around WWE right now saying, "Well, no one would expect Cena to win clean by tap out. Let's do that."
I laid out my thoughts on how I'd like to see this play out, but I'm in no way convinced they'll follow through. I mean - hell - after that Raw, we all thought Nexus would be the biggest thing in WWE by now. Remember? I'd rather hope small and pleasantly surprised than dream big and suffer a crushing letdown. -
Aaron Wood: By the sounds of it, Punk & Cena will be aiming for your typical Wrestlemania main event "epic". The F4W update says that on the Aussie tour, the singles match Punk & Cena had was a run through of the body of the match, although they'll do a different finish tonight (which itself suggests a clean Cena win is off the table) with it going about 30 minutes and featuring the typical "Kick out of each other's finishers" stuff.
-
The opening match of the evening was the Smackdown Money in the Bank ladder match.
-
PeterDawson: Okay, props to Sin Cara for taking that powerbomb.
-
Tenchi: So, the dark horse pulls it off. One match in and things are ALREADY interesting. I wonder if this bodes well for later in the evening?
-
T-Dog: It really is an ROH night. Daniels Bryan wins MITB.
-
Squeaky: Yeah Bryan winning certainly makes things interesting. Vince FORCING Bryan to reluctantly cash in on Punk and lose? Wow right?
-
The Chosen 1: I'd say the DBryan win could go either way... it COULD just be that they are giving us THAT bone because they're doing nothing we want with Punk later...
-
The following match was Kelly Kelly vs Brie Bella, aka the mandatory bathroom break.
-
Which was then followed by Mark Henry vs The Big Show which ended with Mark Henry crushing Show's leg by wrapping a chair around it and Vader Bombing it. DAMN!
-
Next was Raw's Money in the Bank ladder match won by Albertooooooooo Dellllllllll Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiioooooooooooooo!
-
Aaron Wood: Holy shit, The Miz's knee cannot be in a good way right now.
And I guess we can now book another Del Rio appearance in about 75 minutes time. And something tells me that the crowd won't be so happy to see him win something if he does... -
After that was World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs Christian where the title can change hands via disqualification.
-
Can you tell we're trying to hurry through this?
-
The Green Teabagger: Christian wins the World Title via lowblow and Orton's DQ!
-
RDLee: Right now, at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Knoxville, TN a former WWI contributor named Tommy Harvey just had an orgasm.
-
Aaron Wood: I'm having Five days in the "Christian Title reign pool"!
-
Then finally, we get to the damned point of the pay-per-view, not the actual Money in the Bank, but CM Punk versus John Cena for the WWE Title. An epic thrillride from start to finish.
-
The Green Teabagger: I'd go batshit if Punk broke out a Pepsi Plunge tonight or even just a straight Pedigree
-
Squeaky: First finisher kickout by Punk. Ever.
-
I'm guessing most of us on the boards just sat out for most of us except for those two comments and a few others because we all waited for one moment in time, when C.M. Punk—in his hometown of Chicago—won the WWE Title clean via the Go To Sleep.
-
xArsenicKissz: YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Ravnos: PUNK!!!
-
Average: Epic.
-
ZAH: See...if I were Punk, I'd high-tail it out of the arena through the crowd. Lose by count-out...who cares? Take the title and run! (At this moment, Vince McMahon had ordered Alberto Del Rio to cash in his briefcase.)
-
The Green Teabagger: He did.
-
ZAH: F**
k off...seriously??????
-
Squeaky: Seriously. It was beautiful.
-
Squeaky: Perfect. Have to watch Raw tomorrow. Mission accomplished.
-
Aaron Wood: FUCKING PHENOMENAL finish to a great PPV.
-
Tenchi: Holy. SHIT. What greatness has just been witnessed? They actually gave the finish we were craving? I think I need to lie down...
-
T-Dog: Lord Jesus take me now.
-
Drewcifer: Best $45 spent EVER!! I weep that Wrestlemania wasn't as good as this.
I honestly think that one bears repeating.
-
Drewcifer:
Best $45 spent EVER!! I weep that Wrestlemania wasn't as good as this.
aliasyoshi: My favorite part was actually Cena stopping Ace. It TOTALLY worked for Cena to do that and it made sense. Love it!
-
TheGreatWhiteDope: Hey Davey/Eddie, sorry dudes....Punk/Cena = Match of the Year....Sorry Best in the World....MitB = PPV of the year.
Good game guys...Good game. -
TheGreatWhiteDope: Out of all the things people scoff at me for or ask me about when it comes to my hobbies or whatever. I'm constantly asked "why watch wrestling?" The past 3 hours are the exact reason why. Transformers, Harry Potter, Call of Duty, Halo, Uncharted, South Park, Simpsons, all of it...Couldn't compare to how entertaining that just was.
"All your heroes are dead. I killed them." -CM Punk -
Then we had a little bit of brilliance provided by The Chosen 1....
-
The Chosen 1: OH...MY... GOD... No....
-
Del Rio just cashed it in on Punk in the Parking Lot with 30 minutes left on the contract....
-
TheGreatWhiteDope: You son of a bitch.
-
wolfchild: For the record.. Never been so happy to be proven wrong! I almost have faith again...
Which, was kinda, CM Punk's original point... -
The next post is the winner of the first ever Randy Marsh WHAT? WHY? WHYYYY? Award. The Randy Marsh WHAT? WHY? WHYYYY? Award goes to a post I see on a forum that makes me react exactly that way. Every now and then, someone has to be a party pooper and this time it was shooting.
-
shooting: Come on it wasn't that good. This PPV was targeted to the half eaten brained internet wrestling group.
The crowd killed this show chanting Punk all night. Daniel Fing Bryan winning MitB for no reason (he is not world champion material), Christian who is going to be another weak champion and CM Punk the guy who had to break the fourth wall (which should never ever be done) to get over. I hope goes to Roh so I never ever get to see him again (and take Daniel Byran with you) - -
Congratulations, shooting. You certainly earned this one. You made history.
And yes, before anyone points it out....I did quote a different post of shooting's with this vid but that was a screw-up on my part. :-/
-
PeterDawson: Yeah I think it was a great show. The right people got over, a guy who's been doing pretty well in the mid-card now has a shot at the big-time, and they really messed with people come the main event as I don't think quite so many people predicted it would go down like it. If Cena had won clean the local fans would have been pissssssssssssssssssssed... probably thrown the new Go To Sleep pizza at someone.
-
ZAH: I love it...Punk tweeted the following pic just after midnight:
![]()
-
TheGreatWhiteDope: Also, I think one thing we're over-looking throughout all of this needs to be stated:
Orton/Christian are having a series of matches that are nothing short of solid, great, amazing, and just plain quality bodies of work. This is a series both men should be proud of with a story that has been building to this snapping moment that can only move up from here. Most of the time you can get burnt out on the same match 3-5 PPVs in a row. They've kept each one fresh and even on Smackdown through the PPVs they are having a hell of a run. Props to both of them as well. -
Herzeleid: Oh yeah, it's almost a shame that last match was so insanely great, because so much else in the show was as well. I loved the Orton/Christian ending, which surprised me because I was really looking forward to the feud ending. Now i'm looking forward to more of it. The MITB matches were brilliant as well, though i've not heard anything about Sin Cara or Miz, anyone have any idea on those?
-
sprout1883: Just watched my recording. Daniel Bryan! Daniel Bryan! Awesome (However can so see him booked as ther first loser) Sheamus was booked brilliantly ans what a powerbomb to Sin Cara on the ladder. He was getting a great reaction as well. Could totally see him as a face Henry was built well and made to look strong ADR was a bit obvious, but a good ending with the unmasking of Rey. Miz looked legit hurt though Punk Wins! Punk Wins! Think they had to have him beat Cena in Chi town with the crowd as it was going to win and was great to see Vince screw Vince. Wasn't sure Punk would walk out as Champ, but so the right move. Keeps massive interest in the story and you'd hope draw ratings. A very good PPV and booked pretty much spot on from top to bottom
traceman: Ordered my first non-Wrestlemania PPV in 6 years.
Felt like I should have paid more. Favorite show top to bottom I've watched since ECW One Night Stand in 2005. Everything met or exceeded my expectations and some of my *gasp* favorite wrestlers went over huge. I never thought in a million years that Daniel Bryan would win MITB for Smackdown. Kudos to WWE for getting behind a smaller guy who can wrestle. Whether he cashes in successfully is a moot point, him just getting the win puts him in a higher respect bracket in the eyes of casual fans and he will now be involved in an ongoing storyline until he cashes in. As a huge Christian fan, I was pretty pissed to see them take the belt off of him earlier this summer but that has been redeemed with this win, at the least, he'll carry it into Summerslam. Hopefully, he'll get at least a month to prove he can carry the ball for a while. It'd be nice to see him wrestle Daniel Bryan et. al and bring them up a notch by working with them for the title. Lastly, the CM Punk angle is the best thing since early Attitude/Austin/McMahon stuff. The promos, the second guessing, the mystery, etc. have all been brilliant. Above all, kudos to Vince McMahon for listening to somebody and trying something different. Everything we see on TV must be approved by Vince and after listening to the Lagana podcasts, I'm convinced someone has finally explained what's going on in the wrestling business to him. Whether it's Punk putting the idea in a way he listened or HHH has stepped in with some new ideas, I don't care. WWE tv is now interesting again and an angle has captured the imagination of non-hardcore fans. Last night, Bill Simmons of ESPN was tweeting about ordering the show and when it was over declared he wanted to pay more because it was so good. WWE is doing things right, and hopefully will continue to do so. I've found a reason to pay attention again (the last time being Bret Hart's comeback leading in Wrestlemania) and major props to WWE for doing it. This angle is head and shoulders over anything we've seen in years. Now, I have something other than Ring of Honor DVDs in the mail to look forward to.
Money in the Bank was the single most epic WWE PPV to come along in years. It's not close. The following night on RAW was begun by Vince McMahon announcing essentially that Punk was no longer WWE Champion and that there would be an 8-man tournament to determine a new champion. The finals of that tournament was The Miz, one leg and all versus Rey Mysterio fresh off a victory from R-Truth. Vince McMahon came out and well......
-
Mike Johns: So... it's 10 to 11, and we're still not in the finals? We are finishing the tournament tonight, right?
-
wolfchild: I was wondering that myself... Still got final's match and Cena's announcement to go...
-
JohnnyCraze: Mysterio vs Miz. Fuck, if Mysterio wins, I riot.
-
tharvey1: I think Del Rio still walks out with the "title" tonight.
-
Rey Mysterio is in the ring awaiting his "WWE Title" match against The Miz when Vince came out to the ring to fire John Cena for failing to defeat CM Punk at Money in the Bank.
-
The Green Teabagger: Well, there ya go. Postponed until next week.
-
Tenchi: Ha! Vince just said WWF!
-
JohnnyCraze: Good move Vince. Have the title match next week.
-
JohnnyCraze: holy shit!!!!!! Did he (Cena) just mention TNA in a sort of brother way!!!
-
Just as Vince McMahon Is about to fire John Cena....
-
JT: Game Time Bitches!
-
wolfchild: What the hell? Is HHH gonna apologize on air for Sin Cara?
-
JohnnyCraze: Wow.....so...wow, this is getting really interesting. For the first time, WWE makes a live air reference to TNA(sort of) and Vince(who is the owner) is fired from his own company?? What in the blue hell is going on?
-
Mike Johns: Now it's a public corporation, Vince can be legit thrown out on a vote at any time. They just used that as a device to do the on-air 'firing" here.
-
T-Dog: Decent idea, terrible execution. Triple H can't act. At all.
-
wolfchild: Weird ending... I'm not sure if I love it or not... I'm not sure how I feel about it to be honest.
The emotion made it feel very real and that was cool. But the 'I love you pop' pulled me out of the moment and was a little weird.. -
JohnnyCraze: Never would I have thought what happened tonight would happen. a sort of TNA reference and Vince being fired from his own company. Holy shit....this is getting interesting. AND we have to crown a new WWE Champion next week! What else can go on?
-
Mike Johns: Right now, I feel like the last 5 weeks was done just to write out Vince. For all we know, CM Punk really is gone, really is not coming back, and all this was done for the sole purpose of writing Vince out and putting H in his role.
If this turns out to be the case... seriously... f**k this shit. -
Mike, I know you're a cynical bastard and all and Lord knows WWE and TNA has given you tons of reasons to be that way but still...
-
Congratulations, you have become the second recipient of the Randy Marsh WHAT? WHY? WHYYYY? Award.
-
And on top of that I found out they've made Final Destination 5. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHY?
-
Nope. Not going to let Final Destination 5 ruin my WWE for the past two nights. This has been 48 hours of absolute epicness from WWE that hasn't been seen from the WWE in a LONG LONG TIME....and it took a guy "leaving the company" for a while to get it out of them. I hope and I pray that when (not if) WHEN C.M. Punk returns to WWE, that WWE realize what they have in Punk and put the machine behind him. WWE will make a boatload of cash and sell merchandise that rivals Cena numbers.
-
Yeah, I said it.
-
You can already put me down for CM Punk Ice Cream Bars. CM Punk sporks. CM Punk cell phone. CM Punk Diet Soda. CM Punk Straight Edge Razors. CM Punk Sippy Cups. CM Punk T-Shirts. CM Punk Armbands. CM Punk Hats. CM Punk Pillowcases. CM Punk Radios. Colt Cabana Pants. CM Punk Card Sleeves. You name it, WWE will make money off it.
-
Now I'm going to bed, old school UWF is on ESPN Classic and I need some Bruno Sammartino commentary to get me to sleep.
We've all been really wrapped up in this whole CM Punk, John Cena, Vince McMahon thing for awhile now. Hell, we've had our eyes squarely set on the WWE for a month without really caring about other companies. During this fantastic time, last Sunday to be precise, TNA did something they haven't done in MONTHS. They put on a PPV that was worth watching. What? Amazed? Confused? What PPV was it? Destination X. They focused on their X-division. Turns out the X-division can put on a pretty good show. Who knew? It's almost like people would rather watch these guys try to put on the best show possible instead of multiple 20+ minute talking segments between people who hit their peak of popularity in the mid-90s. Luckily if TNA knows how to do one thing, have a few hiccups during a pretty great PPV. We also revisit another topic from last week's Hot Threads in which we discuss the great, not by TNA standards though, Samoa Joe. Since, you know, one of the most over guys in the company lost the curtain-jerker at an all X-division PPV.

Aaron Wood
You know, despite the fact that this show is gonna be buried by the likes of Bischoff, Hogan and Russo and that it's more off an inconvenience to those in charge of TNA than any sort of fresh start of the X Divison coming to prominence, I really do like the look of the card, so I may well be watching on whatever day it airs here. Tuesday or Wednesday.
Average
It can't be any worse than that ECW revival attempt.
Aaron Wood
PWI is reporting that rather than my thought about Williams's opponent being a AAA guy, it is going to be another Brit by the name of Mark Haskins. He's worked in Dragon Gate alongside PAC, and if memory serves, he was used on TNA's UK tour back in January on at least one date, if not all of them.
Average
Hey let's showcase the XD and have the first match end with a roll up. Seriously, a f-ing roll up?
Another fluke win?!? What is going on?
TheGreenTeabagger
I'm going to take a guess.
TXL
I saw most of the show, and I thought it was pretty good. I won't spoil anything for you, but they did a good job of trying to differentiate the matches, because an all X show could get very repetitive. I'll be interested to hear what you think.
Aaron Wood
Looks like this was a kind of marmite show. People either loved or really rather disliked it. Certainly the F4W coverage didn't exactly instill me with "hope". Looks like stuff I want to see and then some bullshit.
Mike Johns
In the X-Contract Match now. Just saw some really solid wrestling the past two matches, and the show's picking up. As is TNA's penchant, though, I'm expecting things to fall sharp in the last two matches.
The Chosen 1
Imagine that... a show that focuses on the X-division is enjoyable to watch... maybe TNA will reali-- oh look they're all fired.
Average
Watch them all get fired and after 6 months of ratings falls they are offered contracts again...
The way I saw it... that commentary was no good, they were way to monotone (or something) compared to the action in the ring. I didn't like how they constantly spoke of the past and "so much history" instead of calling the action, either. The RVD Jerry Lynn match took way too long to get going, but Jerry has back problems still from what I gather, ok fair enough. I didn't like the fluky wins for the first two matches and I wish that the Champs match closed the show. Everything else I thought was good, especially the 4 way for the contract, the Kendrick win and even the unadvertised tag match.
JohnnyCraze
Didn't see the show but heard it was good. I wanted to see Daniels/Styles dammit. Joe lost again??
TheGreenTeabagger
TNA sees nothing in Samoa Joe.
Mike Johns
Anthony.Analog
So why shovel 100k (his salary level reportedly) at him then? Why not let him disappear back to ROH or New Japan (an MVP/Joe feud would be EPIC btw!!!!!!!)???
JamesBullock
The same reason they kept Shark Boy, Orlando Jordan, and several others on the roster for months on end, but never used them on TV before releasing them. I know it's on a much smaller scale than Joe in terms of money, but if they have a guarenteed low-end payment plan (a situation where they pay wrestlers on pay roll the lowest amount of money if they're injuried or not being used), think about how much money they pissed down the drain. And if people don't believe Mike Johns, myself, or anyone else who believes the powers that be don't believe in Joe, let Joe tell you himself.
Company Memo
To anyone who finds video similar to the one JB recently posted of Samoa Joe, please send a link along to Mike Johns, for potential use in future editions of Maverick Radio.
xArsenicKissx
I suffered major burn out by the end of it all. I tried to stay interested, and there were several enjoyable spots, but not enough to eclipse memories of when the X Division mattered.
Our TNA News section is kind of schizophrenic. The news that comes out of that company goes from one piece of information to another so quickly we just really have no way to make it flow smoothly. So here we go...
Hot TNA News: Generation Done, No More Mayo for Orlando, More Joe, Kid Kash gets some Kash, Double J Wins a new title, AAA Invasion, and MORE!
Aaron Wood
Generation Me are Generation Done.
ZAH
I read that and laughed.
Mike Johns
There's always an undercard spot on the Sapolsky show. Putting over guys who actually bothered to learn ring psychology.
Aaron Wood
F4W is also reporting that TNA have released Orlando Jordan.
ZAH
I could be crazy, but his "I'm REALLY gay" gimmick could be the new-age Razor Ramon if given the right treatment.
James Bullock
I actually feel sorry for OJ. The beginning of the Hogan era brought too many old, over the hill acts. Orlando was a guy who actually could wrestle, had a recognizable face, and brought a new gimmick with him that could've been more controversial and meaningful if they didn't neuter him by sticking him in a comedy team with Eric Young. If WWE didn't piss off GLAAD for every little thing, I'd love for WWE to give him and the gimmick a chance. Shoot, do it just to piss off GLAAD, then call them out for not accepting a flamboyantly, almost uncomfortable bi-sexual character.
James Bullock
I think TNA really torpedoed Orlando's career. His biggest issue was that people had preconceived notions about him from past rumors. By playing the character the way he did, it almost validated a lot of what people said about him. I've told him this too. Had the gimmick played out in full and had a chance to get over, it might have done some good. But by taking a segment of his life that a very small portion of the audience knew about (he had never played a gay or bisexual character on TV), it just solidified false thoughts smarks had and alienated those who had no idea about it.
Squirrelz!!!
Wwe should sign orlando jordan for the fact that they need new talent
TheGreenTeabagger
They'd probably get pissed off if they didn't put a title on him or the first time Cena pins him
JohnnyCraze
Orlando Jordan was getting annoying and his gimmick was going nowhere. Why does Eric Young still have a job?
Anthony.Analog
Because he hasn't "asked for a release yet"?
JohnnyCraze
Orlando Jordan was getting annoying and his gimmick was going nowhere. Why does Eric Young still have a job?
T-Dog
"Getting annoying"? Do you sniff glue? He hadn't been on TV for months.

Generation Me are Generation Done.
They look much smarter than Samoa Joe right now.
TheGreatWhiteDope
+1
Mike Johns
TNA has supposedly resigned Kid Kash, according to an update on F4W.
Galaxy
Kash used to bitch about backstage tna when it apparently wasn't even that bad. Now it sounds like
morale backstage is the lowest its ever been and everyone is incredibly frustrated. I give him 2 days before he starts complaining.
Mike Johns
I wouldn't be surprised if he was the guy who leaked the stuff to the Observe you were quoting
Galaxy
Short of getting good money upfront,I can't think why any indy guy would want to be in tna. To borrow from Meltzer, who was talking about Gen Me leaving, if you're not making any money, your wrecking your body, and to top it all, you're not even having any fun because backstage is so miserable and the booking is a mess...why are you going to stay?
Mike Johns
Does TNA at least take five seconds to explain why...
L - why is Abyss here?
James Bullock
Just a few things I'd like to add to this impressive list that tries to bring back laws of logic where there isn't any.
Anthony.Analog
Jeff Jarrett is the single worst detriment to the sport of Professional Wrestling.
James Bullock
What, he won that title from Vince Russo, too?
TheGreatWhiteDope
Why the fuck did that promo end with Karen Jarrett saying "Guess what? I like being wet."?
Mike Johns
Something about mexicans spilling beer on her, I think.
James Guttman
My favorite part of this video is that Abyss - the gigantic longtime TNA star complete with his leather Silence of the Lambs mask - still has to wear a backstage pass around his neck.
Exx
So does this mean Anarqia and Hernandez are coming for the belt? I can't imagine they'd be too pleased about a gringo mexican champ.
Mike Johns
Well, Angelina's been out of the trance for a month now. Love Like Winter's become basically a Goth Beautiful People, now.
for those who don't follow AAA, Sociedad is the Foreign Legion/Perros Del Mal merger that happened at last year's TripleMania (featuring La Parka vs. LA Park). Konnan is the "evil booker" in charge of all this, and Jeff is the latest part of the former Foreign Legion looking to conquer AAA, and get back at Zorro for betraying Sociedad last fall.
RowdyRodimus
Why did Jeff have a different belt on Impact?
The Green Teabagger
That's the AAA Title he won in Mexico (or as they called it, the Mexican Heavyweight Title)
The Chosen 1
No it's not... they glued or taped a different faceplate on it that doesn't go with the rest of the belt at all... and on their website you can see him win the regular belt..
TheGreenTeabagger
I didn't know it was a fake belt. I honestly don't know what it looks like but I remember Jarrett had won that title. Maybe it'd be better to say it's 'supposed' to be the AAA belt for TNA's purposes.
Exx
I think it's supposed to be for heel heat desecrating the belt kinda of thing like Lance Storm did in WCW.
The Chosen 1
No, because there was NO mention of that...
Aaron Wood
I love that when it comes to WWE, they will go out of their way to mention those letters even though it almost entirely makes TNA look completely rinky dink in doing so
Mike Johns
That may be all well and good... for AAA's TV and AAA's storyline. You show that thing to American audience that may not even know AAA exists, show them a belt that looks like a kid's toy, then they find out, wait... that's a real title? You know what conclusion they come to?
This Week in WWI Forum History
Unfortunately scouring the WWI Forums of the past this week was kind of luke-warm at best. So for this week we're going to table this whole thing. I looked around next week's and it will be pretty entertaining. Until then, I'm going to go catch up on Raw and finish the point tallying for the WWI Fantasy Wrestling Game. Info on season 2 is coming on Hot Threads next week...keep an eye out.
ROWDY RODIMUS
ZAH came back? Who scheduled this? This was supposed to be my week to be the main story and surprise comeback. I have this written in my contract, James. I suppose we aren't getting the WWI Freez-Pops either, are we? You know what? That's fine. I'm a professional so I'll finish this column before I have my agent and lawyers contact you. So long as I still have access to the WWI Via Credit Card, everything will work out I believe.
After all, the San Diego Comic Con is next week and I'm sure there will be lots of wrestling related insanity I can cover from there. (JG's note: You have as much a chance of going to Comic Con on the sites dime as there being a Canadian Bulldog vs. Aaron Wood baby oil on a pole match being the main event of Hardcore Justice. Bulldog and A-dub would never let it be filmed by amateurs.)
Dear readers, I apologize for that outburst. I for one am happy to see one of my top 3 favorite Canadians back on the site (the others being Canadian Bulldog and the great, Red Green). Just do yourself a favor; don't be a dumbass like me and let your subscription to ClubWWI.com lapse because you forget to check your email.
So welcome back, ZAH. We've all missed your insightful words and majestic voice that echoes throughout the industry as a church bell in the early morning fog. The time you've been gone, we've all been left (wait for it)
(almost)
(here it is)
Shaking our heads
(can you imagine ZAH's old "Shaking my Head" GIF here, please? Thanks)
Since I've been out of the loop for a while, I'll be discovering these threads for the first time like a lot of you will (which makes no sense since it's free to sign up and start conversing with the greatest assortment of wrestling fans in the world, so SIGN UP NOW!) so let's just jump into...
The WWI E-fed is still going strong and it seems that a PPV, well Free For View, whatever you want to call it is coming up called"Revolution". I think I'm going to spotlight a promo by forum member Timpossible (Although, Tim, I disagree with your assessment that we don't need more Transformers sequels. For one, where do you think I got my name and secondly a new series of films not directed by Michael Bay and set on Cybertron either before or after they came to earth would be amazing.) who is wanting to take the title off of Hollywood Champion Thorn Gabriel in their one on one battle.
Timpossible
Well, well, well... it seems ol' Timpossible has earned himself a shot at some shiny gold, coming up here... the Hollywood Heavyweight Championship. Do you have any idea how long I have been wanting a one-on-one shot at Mr. Gabriel?? Let's go way back to my first month with this fine company... that's the last time it was just me and Thorn against each other... and I got hosed in that match, big time! I've been patiently waiting, biding my time... but all the while, wanting another crack at the man... I could've beaten him, then... should've, probably. And, I know I can beat him now.
It seems that the PPV festivities have already started as I write this and no, I don't mean Money in the Bank. Revolution has started and believe it or not it starts off sounding like a Mike Johns Impact review:
Cotton McKnight
A homeless man makes his way to the ring pushing a shopping cart and yelling at the fans. At first, security tries to stop him, not sure of who he is, but once the man screams at them a bit, they realize it.s Hobo Hank, and let the man continue down to the ring.
For the first time in months we had some postings in the NWA News Thread (pretend to be excited) this time about something that in the early 90's made huge waves in the wrestling world but today just gets questions such as, "Who is that?" and "Are they still around?". Here, read for yourself:
ZAH
Can somebody explain this whole "Sheik" thing to me?
Mike Johns
Sheik is some guy who got the Original Sheik's family's permission to use the name. From all I've seen he's... forgettable.
For those who are unfamiliar with the situation I was talking about from the early 90's, Ric Flair was the NWA and WCW champion (which were unified at the time) when WCW President Jim Herd fired him from WCW and stripped him of the WCW portion of the title. Flair then signed with WWE where he could no longer defend the NWA title in their territories so he was stripped of that title, also.
Remember, that was when the letters NWA meant something to people other than Hip Hop fans. It shows how far they have fallen that people as knowledgeable about the sport as ZAH and Mike couldn't give two shits about it. Then again, if you put your top belt on someone that nobody either knows or cares about at all, you deserve to be a footnote to history.
I know, this isn't the type of column that we usually get opinion pieces in but seeing that about the NWA pisses me off. I grew up with the NWA being the #2 promotion in the world. One of my dreams was to wrestle for the NWA Title one day and one of my most treasured photos is a picture of me holding Terry Funks NWA title. To see it where it is today upsets me. To fans of the Indy feds that are represented by it I might offend, I apologize beforehand.
If the NWA is to EVER regain credibility they have to quit making ties to these nickel and dime, fly by night Indy groups that are lucky if they can get air time on their local Public Access Station. If they are going to keep going with the Indies, they need to get a group of well known Indy guys that they can count on to work as champions and put the belt on them. Bring back a version of the territories where you have a traveling champion who goes from town to town and makes stars of the local guys. That builds up the groups you are aligned with and makes the title seem more prestigious if people worldwide are getting a shot at it.
In wrestling perception is reality. If the belt and the organization seem important, they are. To make the NWA relevant again, the NWA needs to make themselves appear relevant. We want a true #2 to compete with WWE (and obviously TNA/Impact Wrestling/Whatever the hell they want us to call them now don't want to be a competitive #2) then the only conceivable way for it to happen is for one group to tie all the smaller groups together under one umbrella group. Putting the belt held by Lou Thesz, Harley Race, Ric Flair and The Funks on someone because they have the name of a star from the 60's and 70's isn't the way to make that happen.
I apologize for the rant. I promise I'll be more on point next week. Until then, catch the replay of Money in the Bank and check out the fallout on Monday Night with our coverage on the front page.
