WWE had a PPV this weekend.
It involved a match that could have very well seen the "end" of John Cena's "career".
Obviously, our gang of Smart Marks were waiting with baited breath to see how the 10 year-olds would react to Cena getting "fired", much the way we had when Cena was forced to join Nexus.
Boy, those reactions were fun, weren't they?
Well, as it turns out, Orton won, and the 10 year-olds… well… they took it better than they took Cena joining Nexus, I guess.
I mean, there weren't riots in the streets or anything.
In the meantime, here's some feedback on that whole Survivor Series
thing
–
The Chosen 1
I missed it, what did R-Truth suggest Cena do?
Aaron Wood
He told Cena that he (Truth) would come down and make an "accident" happen to Orton so Cena could count him down.
The Chosen 1
I REALLY can't figure out the Main Event... I'm sure if I completely have faith in WWE to make it great but they've done a fantastic job in giving 30 different possible endings to it.
The Miz cashing is the most OBVIOUS and considering WWE has been referencing it so much it'd be very unlike them to actual pull that trigger at this point..
exx
I know its his hometown, but I can't believe how over MVP was.
Aaron Wood
it honestly wouldn't surprise me if his new entrance helped. It's really catchy. He's gonna have what Turth had with "What's Up?"
Natalya is champion. Beth is back. Somewhere Mike Johns just came.
[Mike's Note – No, I'm just laughing my ass off because Michelle LOST.
But thanks for thinking of me, AW.]
The Green Teabagger
I think Mike Johns will be happier that Michelle McCool isn't champion anymore.
[Mike's Note – I'll be even happier if she never gets a rematch.
But that's likely asking too much, isn't it?]
Aaron Wood
Wow. The one finish I didn't have was Cena getting himself fired.
RDLee
I'm disappointed. This would have been the perfect night to turn Cena heel since it's frigging Survivor Series, which is known for it's screw jobs.
We all know this is going to end with Cena disbanding the Nexus all by himself once he gets hired back by next months ppv.
Ugh.... lame.
The only way this COULD be cool is if they let Cena take some indy bookings for a while before bringing him back. That would be awesome and would most likely fool MANY people...
exx
Yeah the swerve was that there wasn't one. I'm not ruling out something big going down tomorrow night on raw though.
Aaron Wood
Well, it could set up a heel turn down the road with Cena blaming Orton for being too good. I mean, all heels have to have some sort of irrationality to them. But while Cena is THE guy in the company, making them millions and still beloved by a large part of the audience, no matter who they are, it's not happening.
The Chosen 1
I don't care that Cena didn't turn heel, I mean at this point I think the Heat between Cena-Nexus is too over the top to just be all a big work at this point... but still....I am completely of the belief that Barrett winning the belt is the faaaaaar more interesting story in every way.
I had considered this ending from the very beginning, knew that it was the one I DIDN'T want to see, and probably the one they would do BECAUSE it was the last thing I wanted to see... but I REALLY didn't think they would... I thought they'd surprise me.
The "How's Cena gonna get back into the WWE" storyline just sucks compared to Cena gave the World Title to the Nexus...
For such a mega heel group they always seem to have the legs cut out from under them... where do we even go from here? Orton vs Barrett AGAIN? Orton vs Sheamus AGAIN? Morrison beat him... so what? A Four Way Ladder Match maybe? But then what? I mean, if Barrett wins then WHY not just have pulled the trigger tonight...
I GUESS... actually, that this might be their way of keeping Cena & Barrett away from each other until WM... but at the end of the day Cena vs Barrett with Nexus' existence on the line ALREADY HAPPENED! I don't know...
REGARDLESS of all that it was also EXTREMELY anti-climatic tonight... I was just WAITING every second for SOMETHING to happen... some kind of moment to save it... have the GM be revealed or even THE BIGGER PICTURE OF NEXUS... instead everyone just slowly moved around for 10 min. making you think something was gonna happen... AND THEN they put the water-mark in the corner and Cena says FUCK IT the shows not over making you go "ohhh here we go, they tricked us into thinking it's over! NIIIICE!" And then nothing... he just hugged people...
I mean really, the trick they pulled with the water-mark would have been a GENIUS MOVE for some type of big moment, we've all been so conditioned to believe that it's the "THE END" to the show, to have that appear and then have something huge happen would be the PERFECT way to swerve the audience... but no. They'll probably just use that next month now when I'll be waiting for it.
TheGreatWhiteDope
I liked the event. Another good show. Even got 3 friends who were very casual to come and watch, they had a blast and are watching regularly for now. Totally checking out every ppv with me for awhile at least. So YAY!
Anthony.Analog
I'm torn. While intrigued by what's going to happen w/ Cena... I think that Barrett winning would've been far more interesting w/ Nexus having the tag titles. It could've opened something up w/ them headhunting Daniel Bryan for the US title in order to run the tables on Raw. Then again, after Barrett and Gabriel, the rest of the Nexus are predominately shit workers, sooooo... maybe not.
shooting
Ron Killings vs Zack was a standard match. Its nice to see Zack to work a match longer then 4 mins long.
I was using my phone during the Daniel Bryan vs Ted match. Angry Birds was more fun then this match in my opinion. I think that Daniel guy won but I wasn't watch nor caring.
Sheamus vs JoMo was a great match and some how JoMo won (I just know JoMo will lose tonight)
Dolph Ziggler vs. Kaval. I like Dolph (also his younger brother is a great rookie down in OVW). Am kind of cold on Kaval just due to the fact he is not my type of wrestler. Dolph made him look great in the ring and I am glad that Dolph didn't drop the title (since he should hold that title for around a year).
Natalie vs Laycool was a match which went 4 or 5 mins (has anyone noticed that whenever McCool drops the title the match is very short?).
[Mike's Note – Michelle McCool matches are ALWAYS short.
It's the one thing I actually LIKE about them.]
Survivor Series match was the same match has the Smackdown battle royal from last Friday. Apart from MVP being so over and then being the first one pinned is just a clear sign that he is has a year or two left in the WWE.
If the Edge vs Kane match happened 10 years ago it could of been a great match but I think they put too much story into it. Also doesn't the title get held up when its a double pin fall?
Wade vs Orton was boring until the last bit and OMG I got to high five John Cena. When Cena was going to the back he went around the path in the crowd. It was really awesome I must say. I have a feeling that part of cut out but it would be cool if they kept it in.
Last week, Luke Gallows got fired.
What's sad is that many of our Board Members figured that was going to happen the moment WWE broke up the Straight Edge Society.
The good news, though, is that mere days after his release, Luke talked with our very own James Guttman, giving his first post-WWE audio interview, which is currently available on ClubWWI.com.
The bad news?
Well…
James Bullock
He said in an interview a couple of days ago he had already set up about 20 interviews. I hoped ClubWWI was one of them. Can't wait to listen to this one.
James Guttman
Actually, it looks like ours may have been the last one you'll get. I just got a mass email from his people canceling any future interviews with people who scheduled. Looks like we made it in under the buzzer.
Aaron Wood
LOL
You broke him for everyone else...
ZAH
I found it funny that he was doing interviews so quickly after his release. I know it's a 90-day "no compete" clause, but I still thought it was rather odd. After reading his interview on SLAM, I was really hoping that you had gotten him for Club WWI. Very happy that it's not only the case, but that it'll probably be his only audio interview for awhile.
Kudos. Going to listen to it tonight!
And I'd highly suggest you do the same.
If you're not already a ClubWWI.com Member, then what the hell are you waiting for?
There's literally HUNDREDS of interviews, just like this, available, including recent ones from Jerry "The King" Lawler, Bobby Lashley, Danny Doring, Jose Lothario (the guy who trained Shawn Michaels), Tony Atlas, Homicide, Dr. Tom Pritchard, Paul London, Mike Sanders, Shane Douglas, and many more!
Plus, audios hosted by your favorite WWI Superstars – Canadian Bulldog, James Guttman, Aaron Wood, and even me, Mike Johns.
And don't forget about the future Hall of Famer himself, Paul Roma, who hosts Glorious, one of the most controversial wrestling podcasts you'll hear.
Plus, the best news of all – it's all available for about $6 a month!
All the archives, all the interviews – hundreds of hours of pro wrestling audio shows that don't suck ass, for the price of a monthly magazine!
So, shameless plug aside… let's get back to the Hot Threads!
You remember how I was saying, a segment back, how Luke Gallows got released from WWE this past week?
Yeah… he's not the only one

Holy Sh*t.... Here we go again...
World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstars Shad Gaspard, Luke Gallows, Vance Archer and Caylen Croft and WWE Divas Tiffany and Jillian Hall as of November 19, 2010. WWE wishes them the best in all future endeavors.
James Bullock
What happened to Jillian getting a FCW trainer job? And I feel bad for Mike Johns who's gonna have to cover the return of Lance Hoyt!
[Mike's Note – Your condolences are appreciated.]
Aaron Wood
Trent Baretta is a dead man, one would guess. It'll be interesting to see if Jillian's "release" is more in terms from her talent contract or all together. Tiffany, not overly surprise by, although sad for a couple of obvious reasons.
Mike Johns
Jillian Hall, on her best day, was always more "willingness to do X" than "actually can do Y". If she's been released all together, they likely realized she wasn't going to do much to help the current crop of rookie divas improve past the "passable" range when Jill, on her best day, was just barely passable herself.
Lance Hoyt is the least of my troubles. We still have the impending debut of Matt Hardy to deal with.
And why only fire half of the dudes?
RDLee
I'm calling it now....
May 2011.... TNA Impact main event is.... Matt Hardy v.s. Lance Hoyt!
Aaron Wood
MAY?!?!?! YOu think they'll be able to hold off that blockbuster match until freakin' May?!?!
RDLee
Actually I meant to say March considering Lance has to wait at least 90 days and all...
Mike Johns
You guys remember that Hoyt was less than nothing when he left TNA, right? You think a WWE run does that much for you? It didn't do sh*t for Tomko, and he was almost a main eventer for TNA before he left the first time.
The Chosen 1
The Hell? That may be the weirdest group I've seen in some time.
I mean A: I thought they were big on Shad.. ya know at some point. B: Why does JTG still exist at this point then? You know that he'll just be released NEXT time. C: Why did they even hire Hoyt? D: Why the hell wasn't Curt Hawkins released? E: Why release The Dudebusters? They definitely showed some signs of charisma in their skits with Horny.. why not give them a little more exposure... THEN if they suck release them. F: Why did Luke even leave Punk's side?
shooting
Well Luke was doomed after SES. He didn't get turned into a face nor was he a heel.
Vance Archer was never going to be used after Curt left him
Jillian Hall and Tiffany weren't on TV. Jillian was never used has a worker and should of been a trainer down in FCW (if they could get some more divas). Tiff is a weird one since they are/were high on her husband.
Shad weren't improving down in FCW. I saw him live a few weeks ago and you could tell he wasn't happy (maybe it was the gimmick).
Caylen Croft is a weird one since his tag partner wasn't released. I know Caylen was only in the WWE because they wanted a tag team partner for Trent. Since Trent had a one on one match against Curt. I just hope Trent goes off Superstars
tharvey1
With Croft being released, I would think that Curt Hawkins and Trent Baretta will be the Dudebusters from now on. I might would actually be able to stand them then. I hated Croft.
Aaron Wood
It's funny. I remarked to Hawkins the other day on Facebook he should be part of the Dudebusters again. Who knows...
RDLee
I like the idea of a Baretta/Hawkins tag team.
Aaron Wood
Here's a thing. And a very slight spoiler on Smackdown. Kane runs backstage to try and rescue Bearer. Who does he run past but both Caylen Croft and Luke Gallows... Oddly enough, there's a segment earlier with him talking in the presence of Rosa Mendes. I'd be a bit scared if I were her, given the precedent set by those who make cameos in Kane's segments tonight...
One last thing before we go.
Shooting found this story on a recently released WWE Developmental talent named Ron Myers.
In fact, here's a picture –

Anyway, shooting found this story online about why this guy was in Developmental, and why he was only there for about a month.
shooting
There is a funny but sad story why Ron Myers (real name Ron Price) got hired and why he spend so little time in developmental. Basically they just hired him so they could get a hold of his copyright name 'The Last Outlaw'. They offered 30,000 dollars for it but he wanted a developmental contract (worth around 6000 dollars).
ZAH
If true, that's VERY funny.
This is just a taste of what you're missing on the Boards. Why don't you come by sometime and check it out for yourself, eh? You never know when something you post may end up being the next Hot Thread.
