Hot Threads: Juan Cena, Black Friday is Jimmy Jacobs' Day, CM Punk's Spiffy New Shirt, Lacey's Love, and More

Did you know that World Wrestling Insanity has a Message Board?Yep. We've done got us one of them there fancy Message Boards, where you, the random, unnamed wrestling fan can go and vent your frustrations. From WWE’s Family Friendly Direction, to ROH's Production issues, to whatever stupid stunt TNA is running with this week, the Insanity Message Boards is your place to speak your mind. You can also interact with fellow Insanity Readers, as well as the Insanity Staff. We even have an E-Fed, if you’re into that whole "Role-Playing" thing, so feel free to stop on by and join in the fun! In the meantime though, here's a taste of what you're missing –
With John Cena being "fired" from WWE, and unable to appear on the House Show circuit, WWE is now booking John's Mexican Cousin, Juan Cena, on House Shows in order to appease the hordes of young fans who make up the majority of House Show crowds these days.
Our own Video Game Expert and RAW reviewer, RDLee, managed to find this rare picture of Cena's cousin –

The Green Teabagger Rey Mysterio's back on the juice? That idiot's going to get himself suspended again.
The Chosen 1 Wow I REALLY hope this doesn't end up on the show. On house shows I'm sure it's a fun little thing, that's fine... it wouldn't make any sense from any standpoint to keep Cena from wrestling ANY MATCHES AT ALL for as long as he is not "in WWE" and WWE should still be able to sell tickets off him, so this works off TV... but if this ends up on TV one of the best angles in a long time will really just be ruined.
Not once has the "oh that is so that guy under a mask" angle actually ended in a way that is anything but anti-climatic.
The Day After Thanksgiving, known to those within the Retail Industry as "Black Friday", is known as the biggest shopping day of the year.
In fact, many of your favorite wrestling promotions were holding special Black Friday sales, offering massive discounts on all of your favorite wrestling merchandise.
Whether you're a part of the WWE Universe, the TNAtion, or just a simple ROHbot, chances are you took advantage of at least one Black Friday sale this past weekend.
For some of us on the Boards, the chance to take advantage of a Black Friday Sale inadvertently led us to celebrating a new holiday – Jimmy Jacobs' Day!
Mike Johns When it comes down to it, Jimmy's what got me to notice ROH. I has seen some of the early stuff, but didn't get it. The Pure Wrestling Rules, the Code of Honor, stuff like that. I figure I'm not the only fan who came to ROH and left just not getting it. It wouldn't be until I heard about Jimmy that I really started to notice ROH. Now, sure, it would still be a few years before I found myself watching it and following it pretty regular (and we can all thank TNA for that), but had there not been Jimmy Jacobs, there's a good chance I may not have given ROH a chance.
TheGreatWhiteDope I think Jacobs is awesome. ZAH and I use to discuss his worth a lot. Jacobs is probably one of my favorite wrestlers in ROH. Especially with his emo character and AotF.
Mike Johns Speaking of Jimmy, these are the songs me and GWD have been talking about, from Jimmy's emo phase, when he was trying to win Lacey's love.
The Ballad of Lacey
The Victory of Love
Kiss 2 Kill
Seeing these, I'm starting to remember the timeline a little better now. Jimmy spent like a year after Ballad of Lacey using it as his theme on a bad losing streak, with Lacey bitching at him about how all she wants from him was to win. Victory of Love was the song made in response to catching Lacey and Colt Cabana together, and Kiss 2 Kill came pretty much at Jimmy's breaking point with Cabana and Whitimer, when Colt was trying to convince Jimmy to ditch Lacey. From there, Jimmy messed up his knee, durring which, Jimmy went on a series of dates with Lacey and actually won her heart. From there, the two switched roles, with Lacey being desperately in love with Jimmy now, and Jimmy becoming jaded and obsessed with world domination and making people suffer and whatever else the AOTF's purpose really was. AOTF is formed, Jacobs and Tyler black become tag champs. MsChif, Joey Matthews, Necro Butcher, and eventually Zack Gowen all join the ranks. Eventually, Lacey gets sick of Jimmy ignoring her that she goes back to Austin Aries, which is around the same time Tyler is breaking away from AOTF as well. As Lacey was the inspiration and Tyler was the backbone, AOTF basically fell apart, and Jimmy kind of just disappeared from ROH (I guess) from there. This was about the same time Sapolsky was replaced by Adam Pearce as booker, and I'm guessing Pearce and Jacobs weren't compatible or something, whereas Jacobs was the Raven to Sapolsky's Paul Heyman.
I know I'm missing details and whatnot (including the whole Delirious/Daizee Haze spilt), but this is the basic timeline, right?
TheGreatWhiteDope essentially....yeah.
Jacobs kinda trailed away once Gabe left. Jimmy is probably gonna get me to watch EVOLVE now. Since he is there and a focal point. I think he can bring something to his character there. Man....so many possibilities. I need Jimmy/Lacey together.
James Bullock There were several factors that killed Jimmy Jacobs in ROH. As noted by MJ, Gabe leaving really hurt his standing because Gabe has stated in various interviews that he had Tyler Black slated to win the ROH title at Final Battle in December (Gabe was released in October). The title picture would've focused on the conclusion of Black vs. Jacobs, and the rebirth/death of the Age of the Fall.
There's a possibility at the end of it, Jacobs would've become to the character he is now in EVOLVE (the war-riddled veteran still struggling to prove he's worthy of being a top player on the Indy scene).
Without Black winning at FB '08, ROH getting a TV deal, their PPVs ending, Pearce not understanding the character like Gabe, and Jacobs' increasing drug problems, Jacobs end in ROH was a whimper when it should've been a huge bang. I know I said this about Kevin Steen in my latest Honor Nation, but the same applies to Jimmy Jacobs -- if/when ROH goes under, right behind the original key players will be Jimmy Jacobs. The only thing I'll take away from Jimmy is the disturbing image of him pouring hot wax on himself while wearing nothing but his underwear in The Ballad of Lacey video.
TheGreatWhiteDope Jimmy's turn from HUSS to Emo whinny bitch to AotF is the first true huge story arc I ever tried to get on DVD. I think I bought any dvd that had a even decent part of the Whitmer/Jacobs feud. I think I own them all right now.
I also have most of the AotF stuff...just not the slow, painful downfall. I have the turn on Black, but nothing after. Looking back now, once Punk left and everything the biggest thing I tuned into and got DVDs for was to see Jacobs. Hell even with Nigel&Aries vs Lynn&Black in Indy I was pumped we got Delirious/Jacobs NoDQ after Jacobs stabbed I believe Haze with the train spike.
BTW: The Greeks didn't write obituaries after a man died, they only asked one question: "Did he have passion?"
James Bullock What I said about Jacobs being mentioned right after the founding fathers and first main event players is pretty much summed up right there. From 2006 to early 2009, ROH's only real relatable storyline that didn't involve a title or someone's return was Jacobs' stuff. It's crazy to look back and see how he had hit after hit until the AotF's horrible demise.
Since we've got the Jimmy Jacobs love-fest going on, why not look at when Jimmy finally found love ... or did he? (My favorite day is the third one for sheer hilarity)
This past week's RAW was yet another 3-Hour Special Edition, featuring the return of the King of the Ring tournament.
So, did Michael Cole say something stupid this week to get everyone talking?
Um… no.
In fact, it wasn't anything SAID that got people talking, but rather, what one particular man WORE that seemed to bring our weekly RAW thread to life -
-
Eaglesfn345 Is Punk wearing a Colt Cabana t-shirt??
The Green Teabagger Is Punk wearing a I love Colt shirt with the star instead of a heart? AWESOME
Aaron Wood He certainly is. God knows how he got away with that one...
Mike Johns "Oh, come on, Vince! Only the smarks are going to know who the hell Colt is anyway! Besides, you can hardly see it behind this snazzy jacket I'm wearing!"
"All right, fine. Just don't let him come to the arena dressed as a fairy, again."
"You know I can't do anything about that, Vince."
*sigh* "I know..."
Aaron Wood Aaw, look at you trying to be like Guttman...
James Bullock I feel so special that I also have that shirt (personally given to me by the Coltster himself this past summer). Honestly, it's the only wrestling shirt I'd wear in public.
Mike Johns You ever get someone come up to you, read it aloud (example - " I... Jewish... Colt?"), then ask you what the hell it's about?
If so - what do you tell them? I imagine that's half the fun of wearing the shirt, really.
Our last words of the week come from RowdyRodimus, who sums up his feelings on RAW's Main Event, pitting Jerry "The King" Lawler against the new WWE Champion, The Miz –
RowdyRodimus I really would've liked to have seen Lawler win the belt. Yeah I know it would've pissed people off that they took it off of the Miz so soon, but as someone who grew up watching the USWA in Jonesboro, AR live every three weeks (about a 4 hour drive for us) back in the 80's and early 90's, Lawler is pretty much a local guy (he used to come here regularly back in the 80's when we had local promotions).
They could've given Lawler the win and then given it back to the Miz next week since the amount of time you hold the belt isn't as important as the number of times you win it now it seems. Think about how much heat he would get bragging about how he isn't just the WWE champion, but a 2 time champ and use basically the same promo he cut about the legends who never had it but use people who only had it once.
This is just a taste of what you're missing on the Boards. Why don't you come by sometime and check it out for yourself, eh? You never know when something you post may end up being the next Hot Thread.
