Hot Threads: Some More Random and Insane Pics, Everyone Books The Nexus, and Your Favorite Belt Designs

By Mike Johns Jan 12, 2011 - 10:53 PM

Did you know that World Wrestling Insanity has a Message Board? Yep. We've done got us one of them there fancy Message Boards, where you, the random, unnamed wrestling fan can go and vent your frustrations. From WWE's Family Friendly Direction, to ROH's Production issues, to whatever stupid stunt TNA is running with this week, the Insanity Message Boards is your place to speak your mind. You can also interact with fellow Insanity Readers, as well as the Insanity Staff. We even have an E-Fed, if you're into that whole "Role-Playing" thing, so feel free to stop on by and join in the fun!

In the meantime though, here's a taste of what you're missing –

Hot Topic   Apparently, I'm not the only one around here who isn't all too thrilled with the new CM NexSES.   World Wrestling insanity Breaking News Editor, Canadian Bulldog, recently shared his vision of a potential Nexus on Nexus war, which seemed to garner quite a bit of interest.   Beginning just shortly after CM Punk revealed his alliance with Nexus, here is Bulldog's take on the Nexus Civil War, as well as some of our Board Members' thoughts and suggestions.

Canadian Bulldog (originally posted January 7)
What up, marks? I had this idea swimming around in my head this morning, and thought I'd share it - could be a neat way to prolong the Nexus stuff until at least Mania.

Spoiler alert: Don't read any further if you haven't heard about tonight's SmackDown and want to be surprised.....

I've read that Wade Barrett attacks Big Show tonight on SD, so I'm going to run with that storyline

Wade Barrett explains that it's nothing personal against The Big Show, he's just trying to make a statement, after Nexus took his identity and purpose away from him. He offers an alliance with Show, who turns it down with a friendly chokeslam.

Meanwhile on Raw, the CM Punk-led Nexus continues to take credit for Cena's injury. They then target U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan, with Otunga trying for Bryan's belt.

Fast forward to the Royal Rumble. It's in the middle of the RR match, and the only two in the ring at the time are Barrett and Big Show. Barrett stands on the turnbuckle, and makes the universal "call to the back sign". Out comes Darren Young, who (obviously) isn't scheduled to be in the Rumble match. Show laughs as he gets set to easily manhandle the two of them.... until Michael Tarver and (the hopefully healthy by now, but even if isn't, let's just say that he is for argument's sake) Skip Sheffield. The four eliminate Show and celebrate in the ring - at least until Barrett is tossed by, let's say one of The Uso Brothers.

The next week, Barrett declares that you're either Exus or you're against us. This raises the ire of CM Punk, who claims gimmick infringement, and challenges Exus to a match against Nexus at the Elimination Chamber PPV. One problem, Barrett says. Nexus has six people and Exus only has four. So the Raw before Elimination Chamber, he announces the final two members - they may not care for Barrett, but they definitely hate Nexus more. Yup, you guessed it - Daniel Bryan and John Cena.

And then at Elimination Chamber, you have a swerve. Nexus and Exus were together all along -- they just wanted to finish off Cena. At this point, you could have Bryan turn heel, or keep him as the one guy who wasn't in on this. Either way.

From there, it's a quick leap to John Cena vs CM Punk at WrestleMania (assuming Punk is healthy enough, mind you), with the stip being that if Cena wins, the new improved Nexus disbands forever.

Thoughts?

Squirrelz!
hahaha, okay Vince Russo, stop hacking into Canadian Bulldogs account and pretending you work for WWE.

Seriously though, I don't see that happening. Why would four guys that got exiled by Barrett join up with him again? Why would Cena join a new Barrett faction when the last Barrett lead faction made his life a nightmare? Too many logic gaps here. I could see Tarver, Sheffield and Young rejoining Nexus under Punk because Barrett exiled them, not Punk. I could even see Daniel Bryan getting the offer to join Nexus but declining. All that Exus stuff however, no dice. Nobody wants to see Nexus Wolfpac. Barrett should do fine on Smackdown on his own

James Guttman
I would be a fan of Nexus Yellow and Black instead of the Punkpac.

Seriously, though, with the amount of Nexus Originals still out of the loop like Bulldog mentioned, this could be more probable than we realize. There are pretty much the same number of former Nexus members as there are new ones. I could see Wade recruiting the former stars on the basis that they were all kicked out of the group and them forgiving him because Nexus was about NXT's new talent...which Punk isn't. It's feasible, though, and I wouldn't discount a second group or alliance under Barrett.

Nelsolo
Barrett's been really good in the ruthless leader role. Without a group behind him, whatever that group is, his character wouldn't make much sense.

The Chosen 1
Not a big fan of the Exus name but considering there are only 3 original members of the group on RAW, 3 guys not on the show anymore and then the extradited Wade Barrett, I'd LOVE to see this... a lot... I just have little to no faith that this is what will happen... but MY GOD that would great. A Nexus on RAW a Nexus on SD.. and then one big CM Punk led Nexus... it would make way more sense than not doing it too. Because CM Punk had been so pro-Barrett up until Monday. Sure there's the "why would Barrett allow himself to lose the #1 Con spot" thing but that's certainly something that can be chalked up to "greater purpose"

Anthony.Analog
Makes a decent amount of sense until you said "finish off Cena" which will never happen for at least another 15-21 years. At which point he'll jump to TNA, testify to congress that McMahon was selling him roids this entire time, and give their fans the heel turn we were waiting for since waaaaaaaay back in 2008. All the while slowly dislocating his spine with his crappy ass leg drop.

Hot Topic   Our Random and Insane Pics thread continues to be perhaps the single longest, most popular running thread on the Insanity Message Boards.   The near endless archive of random, strange, and just plain crazy pictures, from house show and meet and greets, to the latest and greatest wrestling merchandise, this thread continues to raise the bar of Insanity to new heights.   Let's check out a few of the recent additions, shall we?

Hot Topic   Oh… and look at this.   Aaron Wood has decided that because Canadian Bulldog did some Nexus fantasy booking, so can he.   Unfortunately, my so-called journalistic integrity (i.e. that stupid thing that keeps me reviewing Impact every week) demands that I give this equal time.   So, for your reading "pleasure", here's Aaron Wood's version of the current Nexus angle, starting as of this week's SmackDown.

Aaron Wood
THIS IS BASED ON WHAT HAPPENS THIS FRIDAY ON SMACKDOWN, BUT IT WILL NOT SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS, COME BACK FRIDAY NIGHT

So, Wade Barrett faces the Big Show on Friday, with Show winning by DQ when Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater run in to help their former leader. They are then joined, seemingly inexplicably by Ezekiel Jackson for a beat down.

Now, you have to ask yourself 2 (maybe 3) questions. Why has Wade come to Smackdown instead of seeking revenge on those who wrong him, even trying to team up with Cena in a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" situation. Why did he stay a heel and simply move shows?

Similarly, in the match with Big Show, it's clear that Barrett, Slater and Gabriel (and Jackson, but he's not important right this second) are on the same page. Why is this, when one week previous, Slater and Gabriel threw their lot in with CM Punk? Why would they want to help Wade, and similarly, why would Wade take their help?

THE ROYAL RUMBLE:

Punk's Nexus beat down Cena on Monday night, gang-style, as usual and they feud going into the Rumble. Similarly, Wade's "Nexus" feud with Big Show in an similar way. At the Rumble, Big Show enters early in the first half of the match. Dotted around him are Wade's group's entry numbers. They combine to beat Big Show down and eliminate him, before dominating the early part of the card, only to have Cena enter the match at the half way point. He, and other babyfaces, eliminate Wade's group as Punk's group start to come into it. Punk eliminates Cena, but is in turn eliminated himself, by, say, JoMo. Suffice to say that neither Cena, Punk, Wade, Big Show or any of the lackeys win. I've got Alberto Del Rio.

------------------------------------

ELIMINATION CHAMBER:

Smackdown's match features Edge, Kane, Rey, Wade, Big Show & Ziggler. It comes down to Edge & Wade in the Chamber when the lights go out and The Undertaker appears in the chamber when they come back on. He takes out Barrett, much like Shawn did last year, taking out him, leaving Edge to pick up the scraps and retain.

RAW's match has Miz, Orton, Sheamus, John Morrison, Cena & CM Punk. Miz gets eliminated first guarunteeing a new champion, which will be CM Punk, after he pins, well, it could be anyone. Let's say Cena for the hell of it. Suffice to say CM Punk brings home the gold for his Nexus.

-------------------------------

Between EC and Mania, we get some mild and and forth between the 2 Nexus groups, where Punk's boasting it over Wade that not only does he have a the title, but he also doesn't have to worry about a pissed off Undertaker, whereas Barrett cane fire back this his group is a fraud with guys he had to add that haven't done much, and the worst member of the original group, whereas, he convinced the two best guy (Heath & Justin) to join his team, and he's got a big powerful force in Zeke.

For a Wade/Taker feud, have Wade's group beat on Taker until HBK makes an appearance, and takes them out announcing that he's spoken with the board and he will be the special guest referee for Wade vs. Taker at Mania. You can try and hint whether or not HBK wants to see the streak kept in tact, or whether he wants to help someone break it if necessary.

My top matches for Mania are:
World Title: Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio
WWE Title: CM Punk vs. John Cena
Wade Barrett vs. The Undertaker (HBK as ref)
Tag Titles: Marella/Kozlov vs. Slater/Gabriel vs. Harris/McGillicutty (in the first and to this point only physical interaction between the two groups)
MITB: The Miz (who vows to win it all over again and take the title once again), Randy Orton, Jaerry Lawler (getting his Mania match at last), John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Drew McIntyre & Cody Rhodes
HHH vs. Sheamus
US Title: Daniel Bryan vs. William Regal (Regal's in-ring retriement match, although it's not played up as such. It just will be.)
IC Title: Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Masters vs. Jack Swagger vs. Kane

WRESTLEMANIA:

In the matches concerning Wade & Punk's groups, Slater & Gabriel win the WWE Tag Titles, showing they were the better Nexus team all along.

HBK conspires to help Undertaker win his match by helping take out Slater, Justin & Zeke before counting the three count on Wade. Taker & HBK hug in the middle of the ring, which what will be Taker's last Mania match, but not his immediate retirement.

CM Punk's group run-in as Cena is on the verge of winning and get Punk DQ'ed, giving Cena the win, but not the title.

Edge ends the show by retaining the title over Alberto to end the PPV on the happy note.

-------------------------

Between Mania & Extreme Rules, Barrett becomes the #1 Contender to Edge's title while John Morrison once again gets a shot at the title, this time against CM Punk.

EXTREME RULES:

CM Punk retains the WWE Title, in what would probably be a great match against Morrison, given their ECW history. Meanwhile, Wade, having said he didn't need to be like Punk and wanted to win the title by himself, chooses a steel cage match. Only things is that, of course, he's a lying fibber, and it's all a trap to beat Edge down and beat him for the World Title. They lift the cage to take Edge away, and as Wade's group celebrate and Edge is being wheeled off by EMT's, CM Punk's music plays and his group come out.

They stand in the ring in a stand-off. Punk's crew on one side. Barrett's crew on the other. WWE Champion Punk in front of his men. The new World Champion Barrettt leading his charges. The first real time all 8 men of both groups have shared the same ring. There's a lot of hate in the eyes of Punk and Barrett. This powderkeg could go off any second. It's all about who throws the first shot. Just as things get to boiling point, both men smile. And laugh. And hug.

From the moment CM Punk put on the Nexus armband, this was one big plot to not just take over WWE RAW. This was about taking over the ENTIRE WWE. Both shows. "We Are One", after all. Punk & Barrett in JOINT leadership the entire time. The devil's greatest trick was convincing everyone he didn't exist, and all that. Throwing Barrett out of the group. The initiations that saw Slater & Gabriel seek refuge on Smackdown. EXCUSES TO GET THEM ON THE BLUE SHOW. There was only ever one Nexus. They just to conspire to get the titles on their figureheads. Sure, Undertaker was a roadblock to that, but they're there now.

And there is your big storyline for the summer, if not the rest of the year.

Canadian Bulldog
Wow, I liked it a hell of a lot better when it was called "Canadian Bulldog's idea".

Hot Topic  So, let's see here… anyone ELSE on our boards decide to do any Nexus Fantasy Booking this week?

RDLee
Since everyone has a NEXUS booking idea floating around I figured I would add a new thought to the current situation since my original idea is completely useless now.

Wouldn't it be cool if...

John Cena wins the Royal Rumble. Then have Wade Barrett win the World title and CM Punk win the WWE title at the Elimination Chamber ppv. Those wins could result in a Cena/Barrett/Punk triple threat match at WM27 since Cena hates both men and can fight for whichever title he chooses and he chooses both men. This would be a title unification bout as well but if Punk wins then Barrett's group disbands and Cena retires, if Barrett wins then Punk's group disbands and Cena retires or if Cena wins then both Nexus groups disband for good.

This could wrap up the entire angle in one swoop. Cena would win of course unifying the belts and ending the whole Nexus thing all together on the biggest stage. Plus he would get his ultimate retribution on both men at the same time in a clever way. Plus you can have Mania end with Cena holding both titles to send the people home happy.

Okay… okay… anyone ELSE have something to say about how this Nexus angle SHOULD have been handled?

Just Posted on ClubWWI.com - JG's Audio Insanity: The Nexus Do-Over
22 Mins

CM Punk's Nexus held their initiation ceremonies last night and James Guttman checks in to talk about it all including the similarities to the N.W.O., why the Nexus angle was so hot at first, CM Punk's charisma, where the storyline should have went, why it all feels old now, and more. Plus, a look at Matt Hardy's TNA debut, his Rudy Huxtable hair, TNA's mind-blowingly lazy way of debuting him, all the other people with similar debuts, the missed gimmick opportunities, Ken Anderson as Champion, a funny moment from Kevin Nash's ClubWWI interview about Ken, and much more.

Hot Topic  All right!   Enough Nexus already!   Anyone have anything else they'd like to talk about?!

RowdyRodimus
I was looking through replica title belts on a site since I've decided to start collecting them and this thought hit me, "Do they even try anymore at making the titles look good?" We've all had laughs at the Butterfly belt (WWE and Jeff Hardy's version) and I'm pretty sure that 90% of us are sick of the Spinner Belt (that no longer spins, WTF?). But then I thought about how boring and ugly the IC belt is with it's tiny oval shape and basically just the WWE logo and Intercontinental Champion engraved on it and the horrific WWE tag belts that look like they took hubcaps off a car and painted them brass colored.

The only belts in the US that look like championships are the World title and the TNA belt (not the Hardy thing). What happened to the days of the Winged Eagle design or the old NWA designs that felt like it was a real title and less of a prop (I know they were props, but the looks of them made them seem important).

So looking back over the years, what are your favorite designs of titles? I'd have to say mine were the late 80's-late 90's IC title, the silver NWA/WCW TV belt and either the Winged Eagle or Attitude WWF belts. Another one I like was the last ECW title, sure nothing about it said ECW, but it was just a good looking belt.

So what are your favorites and do you think that a titles design helps make a belt seem more credible to the average fan?

Anthony.Analog
The Big Gold Belt trumps everything. Ever. That shit is so immaculate. Winged Eagle is a flat out classic. I thought the WWE and World Tag Team Championships both looked good as well, specifically the World... but now we have giant, leather-bound pennies instead. Honestly, I like Cena's spinning US Title. And the undisputed/unified World title was nice too.

[Mike's Note – I think this will show where I stand as far as the Big Gold Belt is concerned…

God, that's an old picture.   And a sh*tty camera…]

The Old Tag Team Titles were always my favorite.

Although, I preferred the version with the Attitude Era Logos

James Bullock
Mine is a three way tie between: The Hardy Boyz Championship
The Poor Poetry Title

And the Drinking Heavyweight belt (aka "The Pukey")

Okay, in all seriousness, I really like the IWGP 3rd belt

Winged eagle without question.

Also I loved the IC title with the sky-blue strap and the white strap.

J.D.Mayfield
I always liked this

Exx
Winged Eagle belt was my favorite.

Liked the old design of the US title too:
This is just a taste of what you're missing on the Boards. Why don't you come by sometime and check it out for yourself, eh?   You never know when something you post may end up being the next Hot Thread.
