Hot Threads: More TNA Wiki Hacks, The Return of Diesel, Mike's Obsession with Japanese Girl Bands, and More

By Mike Johns Feb 2, 2011 - 5:36 PM

Did you know that World Wrestling Insanity has a Message Board? Yep. We've done got us one of them there fancy Message Boards, where you, the random, unnamed wrestling fan can go and vent your frustrations. From WWE's Family Friendly Direction, to ROH's Production issues, to whatever stupid stunt TNA is running with this week, the Insanity Message Boards is your place to speak your mind. You can also interact with fellow Insanity Readers, as well as the Insanity Staff. We even have an E-Fed, if you're into that whole "Role-Playing" thing, so feel free to stop on by and join in the fun!

In the meantime though, here's a taste of what you're missing –

Hot Topic  Last week, I shared with you the recent hacking done to Jeff Jarrett's Wikipedia entry.   As it turns out, Jeff is not the only TNA talent to have had their Wiki Pages hacked recently, as our own Aaron Wood has found -

Aaron Wood
I just put The Beautiful People into Google to get their wiki page up. While their Wiki has since been corrected, this is the blurb that came up:

Aaron also came across a hack of Mickie James' Wiki that is, quite frankly, Too Hot for the Main Site.   So, if you want to know what sordid tale has been spun about one Miss James on Wikipedia, you're just going to have to join our forums and check it out for yourself, now aren't you?

Hot Topic  This past Sunday, the second biggest event of the WWE year (sorry, SummerSlam) took place, as 40 men participated in what I feel was one of the best Royal Rumbles in years.   From the New Nexus dominating the first third, and protecting CM Punk to the big name surprises in the second third to the final moments when people honestly believed, for a second, that Santino Marella could very well have ended up the winner.   The big talk of the night, though, was the Number 32 Entrant –

NOT Calling Kevin Nash "Kevin Nash" is (stupid).... but the Crowd seems to dig it.   I'd HAVE to imagine they would have booked Nash to stay in longer and get eliminated in a bigger fashion if they knew how nuts people would go for him...I can't believe how well received he was... and AS Diesel. They weren't even chanting "Nash, Nash, Nash" That's insane.

RowdyRodimus
Weird how seeing Nash in the Diesel outfit makes him feel like a different person

James Guttman
Using Nash as Diesel was a big gamble, but I think it paid off. People were really into him and it was like watching Nash's career come full circle. Had they known the reaction he was going to get, I'd imagine they'd have booked him to be in the Rumble longer.

RDLee
Diesel and Booker T both bought themselves a couple more paydays after the great reactions they got tonight.

Who would have ever thought we would hear a "Let's Go Diesel" chant in 2011?

Average
Did "they" just show up to the Rumble? Somewhere, right now, Jim Cornette is laughing his fat ass off.

The Chosen 1
Oh wow... I JUST realized Nash had Brown hair and not TNA Fit Santa Hair... maybe that's why he looked 20 years younger... I imagine they brought Nash in as Diesel and not Nash was way more of an Anti-TNA move than an anti-WCW move because for the last 5 years whenever I thought of Nash I've thought TNA... tonight the letters TNA didn't cross my mind once the entire time he was in there. I just wish I couldn't see through the announcers... that's what bothered me. For the most part they all seemed to be so surprised to see him... yet they all knew to call him Diesel and not Kevin Nash, which I can't imagine any of them would just do naturally.

Aaron Wood
See, even though Striker will have obviously known about Nash being involved, he seemed genuinely excited to see him there. I honestly thought he'd finish the "Holy Sh*t" he started, and there was something in his voice that put across his awe. Could well have been acting all that, but if he was, it was great acting.

The Chosen 1
I think that people have lost sight because of the fact that he was in full Diesel attire and being billed all the way through as DIESEL, JUST how crazy it was and is to see Kevin Nash in a WWE Ring in 2011.

It's Funny how we all just wanted to see him be NOWHERE near the ring in TNA just a few months ago and now because of a 3 or 4 minute spot in a battle royal, everyone who saw the Rumble is kind of hoping for a more permanent return for Big Daddy Cool.

Sprout1883
God no. I so don't want to see him in the ring wrestling a match or program, but he is certainly worth a spot in something like the Rumble, which is limited.

The thing with Nash is the guy has charisma

I wouldn't be averse to seeing him WWE in the right non wrestling role.

RDLee
The thing for me is that TNA seems to suck the life and character out of former WWE performers. With the exception of a few most of these guys will only feel like a natural fit in the WWE.

I bet if Scott Hall showed up as Razor Ramon or Hogan came back in and got a massive ovation that people would be saying the same thing.

WWE is their real home while TNA was just a hotel they stayed at during an out of town business trip.

T-Dog
Diesel and Booker T came across as bigger stars last night than they ever did in TNA.

Gotta imagine guys like RVD, Jeff Hardy, Angle, Steiner, etc have to be questioning themselves after seeing that last night.

Squirrelz!
I don't see how anybody is shocked by the reaction Diesel got. If he came out with generic music, gray hair and as Kevin Nash, he'd probably get a decent pop but nothing serious. If he came out to the Wolfpac theme, died his hair circa 1999, he'd get a bigger pop. Having Kevin Nash go full Diesel mode with the Diesel music and never referring to him as Kevin Nash was a brilliant move. Nobody expected the full out Diesel and once the rig horn hit, I went mental (not while it was live after reading the results nonetheless). Best thing WWE has done with the Rumble since Mr. Perfect came out in 2002

The Chosen 1
It's just crazy to me we're all just calling him Diesel without question - lol. It's been 15 Years... He's Kevin Nash for god sakes lol... hell of a testament to WWE for getting us to do that in 5 Minutes.

It'd be like if Austin came back as the Ringmaster and we were just calling him that no question... I mean not exactly like that but you get my point. Haha

Extreme Mean
loved the reaction on the faces of all the guys in the ring when Nash showed up as Diesel.   everyone in the house i was watching it at jumped 10 feet in the air it seemed when Booker and Nash came out... we scared the cat twice lol

Hot Topic Lastly, before we go, I wanted to take some time to share with you, the Hot Threads reader, a band that I rediscovered by virtual accident while surfing YouTube recently – Shonen Knife.   One part Ronettes, one part Ramones, this Osaka, Japan pop/punk group has been one of the longest-enduring and beloved independent rock acts of the last few decades.   They were even among Kurt Cobain's favorite bands, listing their Burning Farm EP among his favorite albums.   In lieu of barraging you with the numerous Shonen Knife videos I've recently posted on our Message Boards, I'm just going to leave you with this one song, which will hopefully be for you what rediscovering Shonen Knife has been for me, recently – A New Find!

This is just a taste of what you're missing on the Boards. Why don't you come by sometime and check it out for yourself, eh?   You never know when something you post may end up being the next Hot Thread.
