Keeping it Real: My WrestleMania Thoughts

By Dave "It's Still Real To Me" Wills Apr 3, 2006 - 2:28 AM

Really good show.  It looks like Bret got a little burial for not coming to Mania.  But it was great to see Ross back on the show and good to see Vickie Guerrero hear the fans show much everyone loved Eddie again.

I was shocked Carlito and Masters didn't win the belts. Looks like the split between Cool and Masters is still being teased.

Ted Dibiase should buy everyone in that promo he did ( Eugene, Snitsky, Moolah, Mae, Burchill and Goldust), form a stable, and cut promos every week. That could be humorous for a while. Priceless!!!

I enjoyed Money in the Bank, but would have liked to see Ric Flair win and hold the MITB contract for a while, leading up to one more (and probably final) run. Shelton needs a raise and an emancipation from Mama ASAP.  RVD at ECW for the title should be pretty good. Did anyone think Matt Hardy was going to win? Does anyone think he wishes he was with Christian in TNA?

Really enjoyed the finish of the JBL/Benoit match. Should have been longer though. JBL has became a really good heel.

At least, Booker & Sharmell vs. Boogey told a story. While the match wasn't great at all,  I think Sharmell and T deserve a raise for making that match better with facial expressions and acting. Some may think it's faint praise, but that feud was way much better than it had any right to be whatsoever. Hope something better happens for the T's next.

Mickie James got over huge in Chicago, didn't she?? Wow. Too bad for Trish.

Too bad he had to dress like a bird or Aztec Warrior or something for his ring entrance, but I was glad to see Rey Rey get a chance to run with the belt. If they let him work with some folks who will compliment his style and not have him face Boogey or Lashley or Taker next, Mysterio could do really well as WWE Champion for a few months.

HBK and Vince McMahon did what it was supposed to do. Even though it was a bit overbooked, It is nice to see a face get his revenge on the heel in the end. Bill Watts says in his book he prays for Vince; I think we need a lot more folks to start praying for VKM immediately since he hates God this week. VKM let us know exactly what he thinks of his own drug and wellness policy also. Sad.

Edge and Foley was a good match, but I guess I was more in a "wrestling" mood than a hardcore mood. It seems that the match got over well. Once again, the less hardcore matches you have in a year, the better they get over when you do pull out the bag of tricks and have them. What a bump onto the fire! Foley and Edge earned their money tonight. After winning the belt, improving ratings, and getting himself over in a feud with Cena and Flair, Edge bumps onto thumbtacks in the fourth from the bottom match on Mania. Sucks to be Edge.

Taker beats Henry. Great plancha.I didn't hate this match as much others at my table did. I guess Henry will be wished "Best of luck in his future endeavors" when his contract finally expires.

Cena and Trips was much better than I thought it would be. I didn't think they would give them a lot of time. Love that dueling crowd chants. I was suprised that Cena kept the Belt. Whoever designed HHH and Cena's entrances and entrance attire should be fired.

Prediction: Edge and Undertaker battle of the WrestleMania winning streaks should happen in Detroit.

PS: Yes, I saw the sign.
