Kevin Peel's Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling TV Report: The Russian Roulette Rumble To Crown a New CAPW Champion
By Kevin Peel
Cleveland All-Pro wrestling airs weekly in the northeast ohio market on Sportstime Ohio which is the cable channel owned by the Cleveland Indians. While new to cable tv, they have actually been around for over 13 years. Their website is at capw.net where they also have dvds of past events available for purchase. This is their fourth episode of the tv show. Episode five will air on Friday night at 12:00 am with a replay on Sunday at 11pm. This week's show opens with Michael Cash interviewing Matt Stryker who is working out backstage. Michael asks him about his match tonight against unknown. Matt got irritated pretty quickly and said that he's told Michael in the past not to interupt him while he's working out. He says that tonight Unknown will join his partner Virus on the shelf maybe forever and if Michael doesn't get out of there he might be right there with them. After the opening credits roll, Joe Dombroski and Jamie Scott welcome us to the show and run down the card. Matt Stryker defends the CAPW Junior Heavyweight title against Unknown. From there, Johnny Gargano takes on M-Dogg 20 in singles action and the main event is a 34 man russian roulette rumble to crown the new CAPW television champion. (1) CAPW Junior Heavyweight title match: Matt Stryker vs. Unknown The challenger is introduced as being from parts unknown, weight unknown, his name is unknown. And to clear up any confusion, the CAPW junior heavyweight champ is not the school teacher Matt Striker from WWE. This is the Unibrow Matt Stryker that you might know from Ring of Honor. Unknown hits an early armdrag and Stryker complains that Unknown used the hair. After the feeling out process, Unknown takes Styker over the top rope to the floor with a hurricanranna. Unknown then teases a dive to the floor but instead gives Stryker a baseball slide as we go to commercial. When we return, Stryker is blasting Unknown with some forearm shots on the mat. Stryker grabs his leg and looks to be going for a dragonscrew leg whip, but Unknown counters with an enziguiri. Unknown follows that with a back cracker and hits a swinging ddt for a two count. Stryker tries to stop the momentum with an eye poke, but Unknown is wearing one of those masks that has the eyes covered so that move has no effect. Unknown hits an eyepoke of his own which is effective and he follows that up with a neckbreaker for a two count. Unknown then climbs to the top and hits a missle dropkick off the top and covers, but his tag team partner Virus is overly excited and jumps on the ring apron which distracts the ref from making a count. The ref turns around and makes a two count, but Stryker is able to kick out. Unknown tries climbing to the top once again, but Styker gets up and jumps up on the ropes to try some kind of high impact move of his own. From the outside, Virus hooks Unknown's leg so that Stryker can't execute any moves on him and Stryker goes crashing to the mat. Unknown tries jumping off the top, but Styker catches him in a gutbuster and hits the strykerdriver (death valley driver) for the win. Winner: Matt Stryker (2) Johnny Gargano vs. M-Dogg 20 We get the ring intros before the commercial break and when we return we are already underway with M-Dogg hitting a Japanese armdrag, a dropkick, and a satellite headscissors to send Gargano bailing to the floor. M-Dogg follows him out there and whips him to the post. He follows that with the flagpole press and rolls him back inside but Gargano turns things around hitting a divorce court shoulderbreaker on M-Dogg. Gargano goes to work on the arm and hits a russian legsweep on the arm which he follows with a dropkick to the arm. Gargano continues to work on the arm and comes off the top rope with a stomp to the arm. He then takes M-Dogg to the mat with a hammerlock to add even more pressure to the arm, but M-Dogg fights his way to the ropes to force a break. Gargano whips him to the ropes, but M-Dogg comes back with a sunset flip for a two count. M-Dogg connects with a back elbow and hits a standing moonsault for another two count. M-Dogg goes for a fireman's carry, but can't hold him with the injured arm so Gargano counters into a sitout michinoku driver for a two count. Gargano tries following with his uniquely you finisher, but M-Dogg counters into a victory roll for a two count. M-Dogg follows with a fireman's carry into a neckbreaker across his knee and lands a springboard stomp to the back of Gargano. M-Dogg climbs to the top for a moonsault, but Gargano moves. M-Dogg lands on his feet but Gargano slaps on the uniquely you and scores the one....two...three. Winner: Johnny Gargano (3) Russian Roulette Rumble to crown the CAPW television champion This match is basically like the WWE royal rumble match. Two men start and a new wrestler is added every 30 seconds. Jason Bane and Michael Hellborn were the first two entrants in the match. Now, we're gonna skip ahead to the final four in the battle royal since half the people in this haven't even been introduced on the tv show which makes it pretty impossible to review. The final four came down to Jason Bane, Chris Cole, Chris Cronus and The Candian Badboy. Bane quickly dumped Chris Cole over the top rope. Cronus picked up the rotund Canadian badboy and gave him and F-5. Bane charged at Cronus and he tried flipping him over the ropes but Bane caught himself on the ring apron. Cronus then flipped the Canadian badboy over the top. Its down to just Chris Cronus and Jason Bane. Bane hits a big clothesline right when Cronus turns around. Bane grabs him and throws him over the top. Cronus hangs on to the top rope and tries to skin the cat but he loses his grip and falls to the floor. Jason Bane is the new CAPW television champion. It should also be noted that earlier in the match, Jason Bane dumped his former tag team partner Ray Rowe over the top as well. Winner and new CAPW Television Champion: Jason Bane Thoughts: Pretty good show this week. The battle royal was a bit of a cluster for a while but was decent. I like the setup of Jason Bane eliminating his former tag partner since it sets up a match down the line. The opener was really good. I think I found Matt Stryker more entertaining in one night with CAPW than his entire run in ring of honor. He really came across great as a prick heel. Gargano and M-Dogg was also a good match and I was a bit surprised to see Gargano pull out the win. Next week should be interesting as they have some people who haven't really been on tv yet. Next Week: Michael Hellborn vs. Dan Spade Da Munchies vs. Luis Diamonte and Billie Taylor CAPW title match: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Chris Hamrick
