Greetings, fellow line-crossers!
-
Apologies for the lateness of the start of this real-time, but my internet has not been cooperative. Hooray for Tivo! Without wasting any more time, here we go!
-
We open to a very other-worldly song playing, and a video package detailing the great destinies of the talent of TNA. They were born with a dream, a desire to be the best.

To the ring! Eric Bischoff and "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan strut to the ring. Massive ovation for Hogan. Bischoff, gray hair and all, sports a suit jacket. Hogan has the microphone. Hogan welcomes everyone to "Genesis" and to the new Impact Zone. The four-sided ring doesn't go over well. HUUUGE chants of "We want six sides!" from the audience. Hogan snaps that they HAD six sides, and it only got them so far. They're changing it, whether the fans like it or not, because that's where professional wrestling happens. After biting the heads off of the fans, Hogan tries to make nice by praising professional wrestling and saying that the competition is afraid to even say "professional wrestling" in the locker room. Bischoff says that clearly these people, like everyone, fears change and doesn't like it. Too bad, because they are all about change and there will be a lot more change after this. Hogan and Bischoff are the faces, right? Um, ok.

X-Division Championship title match
Amazing Red vs. Brian Kendrick
YES! Brian Kendrick! Red and Kendrick lock up. Kendrick works the arm with an armbar. The high-flying picks up, and Kendrick nails Red with a kick to the head that knocks Red to the floor. Kendrick attacks Red's knee repeatedly with kicks, then twists the leg in a submission. Kendrick drives Red into the corner and continues to target the knee. Red is completely grounded here. Kendrick climbs to the middle rope, but Red hits him with a spinning heel kick that knocks him to the floor. Red gets his second wind, and fights back into the ring. Red gets a two-count on Kendrick after a huge senton bomb to the outside. Kendrick gets Red in a single-leg Boston Crab and continues to work the knee, adding headbutts for good measure. Red catches Kendrick with an enziguri. Kendrick flies into the corner face-first, and Red kicks him in the back. Red hits a weak and sloppy headscissors, but still takes Kendrick down. Kendrick clings to the bottom rope as Red tries to drag him off. Red hits Kendrick with the Code Red for a victory. Kendrick looked awesome here.
Winner (and STILL X-Division Champion): Amazing Red

To the back! The Band is with Hogan and Bischoff. Bischoff thanks them for their help. Hogan tells them that this is their one shot, and they have to make it count. The Band talks amongst themselves about what this really means, earning money tonight, and other things that can't really be heard or understood.
-
Sean Morley vs. Daniels: Morley gives Brooke Hogan his towel. Go figure. He introduces his very first TNA production. A Full Frontal Production. Produced by, directed by, and starring him. Daniels enters and grabs a mic. He rips into Morley that this is wrestling and not about movies. The crowd cheers Daniels wildly, and he responds by yelling at them to shut up, he isn't doing this for them. He's doing it for himself. Daniels says that tonight, he is Morley's worst critic. He isn't giving Morley's movie a thumbs-down. He's giving it this! "This" is a middle finger. Morley and Daniels go. Morley drops Daniels with a pumphandle and knocks him to the outside. Morley pulls Daniels up by his ears into the ring. Daniels chokes Morley in the ropes. Daniels locks in a version of a triangle choke on Morley's arm. Chops are traded. Morley throws some punches. Daniels catches Morley in a headscissors in the ropes. Daniels kicks Morley in the head from the apron. Daniels chokes Morley blatantly. Daniels drops Morley with a kick, then again with a right hand, then with a slap. Morley fights back with clotheslines, and throws Daniels into a corner. Morley powers Daniels down with a slam, but only gets a two-count. Double underhook butterfly suplex by Morley on Daniels. Daniels locks in a Koji Clutch submission hold. Morley rolls over and fights out. Daniels drops Morley with the STO takedown, but Morley kicks out at two. Daniels is targeting the throat. Daniels tries a BME, but Morley rolls away. Morley goes to the top rope, but Daniels hits him in the throat with an open palm thrust. And again. Daniels attempts a top rope hurricanrana, but Morley pushes Daniels off. Morley lands The Money Shot on Daniels and gets the win. I am very much not pleased.
Winner: Sean Morley

To the video package! It's ODB and Tara talking trash.

Knockouts Championship title match
Tara vs. ODB
They lock up. ODB rips out some of Tara's hair extensions. Tara spears ODB. Tara hits a standing moonsault, but ODB kicks out at two. ODB throws Tara over with a fallaway slam. Tara rolls up ODB for the three-count
Winner of Fall #1: Tara
ODB knocks Tara down with a punch. AFter much throwing into the ropes, Tara catches ODB in the Tarantula on the ropes. Tara gets knocked to the floor as she releases the hold. ODB drops Tara across the railing, then has an exchange with Brooke Hogan. Why is Brooke Hogan getting more attention on a TNA ppv than some members of the roster? ODB gets Tara in a body scissors in the center of the ring. ODB rolls around in an Oklahoma Roll-type move, maintaining the body scissors around Tara's midsection. ODB goes right into the pin, but Tara kicks out at two. Tara claws frantically for the ropes. ODB breaks the hold when Tara pulls her hair. ODB returns to the body scissors with a rear choke, and Tara is down in the center of the ring. ODB rolls Tara to the side, and Tara escapes the hold. ODB rips something out of her cleavage, and one breast is now smaller than the other. Weird. ODB hits Tara with a running power slam. Tara puts ODB in a power bomb position, and immediately flips her over into a Widow's Peak and pins ODB for the pin.
Winner of Fall #2 and NEW Knockouts Champion: Tara

To the back! Christy Hemme interviews "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero. This promo was comedic gold, and cannot be done justice with a write-up. Watch it if you can. "The Pope" is AWESOME. "I'm so hot, go to Dairy Queen and get Pope a sundae!"

Tag Team Championship title match
Matt Morgan and Hernandez vs. the British Invasion
Morgan and Magnus start. Morgan outpowers Magnus, and Magnus bails to the outside twice. Morgan tries to chokeslam Magnus, but Magnus rakes the eyes and fights out. Tags to Hernandez and Williams. Williams tries technical finesse, but Hernandez is all power and the Brits turn to double-teaming. Morgan tries to enter the ring, but the ref stops him. This leads to more double-teaming from the Brits. LOUD chants for Morgan. Morgan enters and cleans house. Great moment where Morgan starts to throw Magnus down, tosses him aside, and grabs Williams off the top rope instead. Morgan hits Magnus with the Carbon Footprint and pins him for the win.
Winners (and NEW Tag Team Champions): Matt Morgan and Hernandez

To the back! Lashley strides into the office, looking for Hogan and Bischoff. Abyss attacks Lashley, smashing a flatscreen computer monitor over his head, among other things. Abyss completely lays out Lashley. Bischoff is furious that Abyss has laid out his opponent in the semi-main event. Bischoff snaps at Abyss, but Hogan plays the peacemaker. Abyss will still have his match, and don't worry who the opponent is.
-
Desmond Wolfe (and hot chick) vs. "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero:  These were the two greatest entrances in recent memory. Desmond Wolfe has all new ring gear and gets stripped down by an unknown hot chick. Pope eyeballs her the whole time and kisses her as she leaves. GOLD!!! This is the sort of match that just has to be watched and appreciated, so I am. Pope seems to injure his leg as he takes a fall to the outside. Wolf continues to target Pope's knee and leg, with a single leg Boston Crab with a Figure Four hand position. He continues with a number of submission holds. Pope is totally grounded by the overpowering submission awesomeness that is Desmond Wolfe. Look, John Cena. THIS is how an STF submission hold is properly applied. Pope refuses to submit, and fights out again and again. Punches fly between Wolfe and Pope in the corner. Pope briefly gets the upper hand, but Wolfe will not be denied. Pope drags himself up by the ropes, and Wolfe positions him for the Tower of London. Pope squirms out, and drops Wolfe with a super stiff clothesline. Pope tries to follow up with a suplex that I haven't seen before. Wolfe fights out and wraps Pope around the ring post, pulling back on his head. The referee forces Wolfe to break the count at five, and while the two argue, Pope hits Wolfe with a slam. Pope goes on the offensive, but Wolfe fights out. Pope rolls up Wolfe twice in small packages, but Wolfe barely kicks out both times. Pope sets Wolfe up in the ropes and drops him with a reverse neckbreaker. Much is made of Pope needing a quick win because of his injury. Pope plants Wolfe with a reverse Alabama Slam. Pope tries the DDE knees to the back, but can't run properly. Wolfe pivots around and flattens Pope with a stiff lariat and gets the three-count.
Winner: Desmond Wolfe

To the back! JB starts to announce something, but Bischoff shows up and tells him that he's taking JB off of tv. Christy Hemme is given the interviewing privileges, and Ric Flair shows up. Flair says that he'll tell everyone his business when he's ready.
To the video package of The Band. 'Nuff said.
-
Beer Money vs. The Band: Syxx and Storm start. Storm mocks Syxx with karate poses. It's all corner beatdowns from Nash and Syxx taking the double-team bumps from Beer Money. That's it. No, really, it is. Great moment when Storm punches Syxx hard in the face and knocks him off the apron. It looked like he really hit him. Would any of us be surprised? The match itself didn't seem to matter. Scott Hall wanders down the ramp, grabs a fan from his seat, and throws him over the railing to the floor. While Hall continues to assault the fan, the referee and Syxx go to the floor. Nash gets rolled up for the pin during all this. It really doesn't look like the typical plant fan incident.
Winners: Beer Money
-
To the office! Hogan and Bischoff watch on the monitor. Hogan says that he'll take care of Hall and The Band next week. Bischoff grins and says that Hogan was brilliant in his handling of the Abyss situation.
-
Abyss vs. ???
Abyss enters. His opponent is - MR. ANDERSON!!! Very long opening segment with Anderson. He actually started to say "Mr. Kennedy" before stopping the fans from saying it. Why on Earth would you acknowledge your previous gimmick??? Just give us the new one. Abyss knocks Anderson flat and wags his finger at him. The announcers talk up Anderson constantly, mentioning that Abyss was instructed by Hogan to leave the hardcore stuff behind and show what he could really do. No good can come of that. Anderson tries to work over the arm of Abyss on the ropes Anderson grabs a chair at ringside, but Abyss kicks it away. The pace here is very slow, with lots of focus on taking out Abyss's arm. Power moves are met with more working of the arm. Abyss chokeslams Anderson, but only gets a two-count. By the end, Anderson pulls brass knuckles from his tights and clocks Abyss in the head as Abyss goes for a steel chair. Anderson covers Abyss for the win. Post-match, Anderson announces his own victory.
Winner: Mr. Anderson

World Heavyweight Championship title match:
(Angle's last shot at AJ's title in 2010)
Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles
I think we all know that calling this match move for move is not happening. These two will produce a true thing of beauty. AJ targets Angle's neck with punches and strikes. Angle responds with counters and grounding AJ. A snap suplex on AJ only gets a two-count. Angle drives AJ into a corner. Angle is all Chess Master, locking AJ in a body scissors in the middle of the ring. AJ is successfully grounded for some time. Angle locks in a reverse crossface with a knee to the back. AJ's neck and back are targeted repeatedly. Angle follows with a headlock. AJ fights up and hits Angle in the gut. Both guys collide with simultaneous flying crossbodies in the center of the ring. Referee Earl Hebner (WHAT???) starts the count of ten. By the count of nine, both guys are back to their feet and Ric Flair has come down to the ring. Angle throws AJ around with a series of German suplexes. Angle goes for a clothesline. AJ hits the Pele, and gets a two-count. This is outstanding stuff, and is what TNA should have been focusing on all along. Yes, I know I said that before. Angle hits AJ with the Styles Clash, but AJ kicks out at two. AJ drops Angle with an Angle Slam, but Angle kicks out at two. Angle locks AJ in the Angle Lock with a body scissors. AJ taps out, but Ric Flair pulls the referee out of the ring so that he doesn't see it. With Earl Hebner unconscious at ringside, Flair tosses AJ the World title belt. AJ looks conflicted, but smashes the belt into Angle's head. AJ covers Angle, and Flair rolls Hebner back into the ring. Hebner makes the count. AJ wins! AJ and Flair celebrate in the ring. "It's all about me!" AJ is now in full heel mode, it seems. And he is Nature Boy Junior.
Winner (and STILL World Heavyweight Champion): AJ Styles

Jana's Last Words: This was not a good show. Not "Victory Road 2009" bad, but bad. Parts of it were good. Kendrick/Red was good, but the ending was weak. Wolfe/Pope was also very good, and Tara/ODB was quite surprising. I personally enjoyed having someone win two straight falls and the match, as that's a rare thing. Angle.Styles was every bit the match that we expected it to be, and now that Angle gets no more shots at AJ's title in 2010, somebody has to get it off of AJ. We shall see. The less said about The Band the better. I was never a Mr. Kennedy/Anderson fan, so his praise as a guy who could take AJ's title at any time is a disappointment. No Samoa Joe. No Motor City Machine Guns. No World Elite. If you thought the attitude that TNA's own talent isn't good enough for anything, and that everyone who ever got kicked out of WWE has to come in and save it was bad, it's much worse now. I miss the six-sided ring. My biggest problem is that Hogan and Bischoff are quite up front that they are changing everything for the sake of changing things. No thought is being given to the nature of the change and the effects of said change. That is not good.
Peace out,
Jana
