The World According to ZAH:
This week our resident head shaker is devoting his time to one discussion topic: tag teams. With WWE's website giving their choices of the best ten tag teams of all time, where does ZAH stand on the issue? From the Outlaws to the Outsiders, from the Midnight Express to the Rock'n'Roll Express, it's all about tag teams this week.

Hello and good evening (or good morning, if you're on my side of the pond), It's is John Morrison & Mike Mizanin's new best friend, Aaron Wood, here and I'm filling in for Real-Time Rickard tonight as he has something of a snafu. Something out there wanted me to watch this show, because I wasn't going to earlier, but here I am, so something must be going to happen...it's in the ether!
And also aside from the event that must be happening for karma to drive me to this point, we'll answer the following...
Can the under-handed side of the main event possibly last minutes tagging in and out with each other?
Who's going to be the first to make a slightly risque remark when Booker gets strapped?
Will Jay Lethal be going on his date with his belt? Will his trousers be able to stay up?
What do you mean "It's not that kind of belt"?
Will we see a live face-eating from Black Reign tonight?
Is it possible to make a Shark curry? I suppose it is, but it's hardly traditional...
Anyway, as you know, I like to give you a video to keep you happy until the show starts, and it's usually related to the show. So what is it tonight? Something about Degeneration X, since this PPV is "DX"? No... U2's Elevation, since there's the scaffold match? No...
Nope it has NOTHING to do with the show at all. This past week or so, the UK music bible, the NME held it's annual awards ceremony in London, and for poops and giggles, the brilliant US band "We Are Scientists", which have what will be an excellent album coming out soon called "Brain Thrust Mastery", played roving reporters for the night.
These were the results...
WE ARE SCIENTISTS @ THE NME AWARDS - PART ONE
WE ARE SCIENTISTS @ THE NME AWARDS - PART TWO
Anyhoo, see you when the show starts!
Many apologies everyone! Due to a streaming snafu that said the show was starting in half an hour, I seem to have missed the opening half hour!
James just told me you put your clocks back an hour!
I tuned in just in time to see Petey hit the Canadian Destoryer, but So Cal Val distracted the ref with information about Stiner for some reason, leaving Lethal to get the win on Williams.
WINNER & STILL X CHAMPION - Jay Lethal
Tenay & West are at ringside, who talk about what stemmed form Impact last week and the change to a public vote. They send it to Crystal with the babyfaces who asks about how it will affect them. Joe said it doesn't matter and that Jim Cornette wa unreliable. He said they'd stand united. Crystal turns to Cage who said there was no doubt about who won the match. Cage dared Cornette to over-rule the call, but Cage would be in it and going after the Angle team. Nash said he bet everyone thought he'd take the first 5 minutes off if need be, but iot was about business tonight. Nash said he promised Joe that it would be Joe vs. Angle next month and he'd be seeing to it.
They sent it to a preview of the next match...
Kaz & Eric Young vs. Black Reign & Rellik in a "and of course this match is "killeR & ngieR kcalB .sv gnuoY cirE & zaK" spelt backwards..." match
As a note, LAX won the opening match with Hernandez pinning Rave.
Black Reign came out first for his team, followed by Rellik. Naturally, Kaz came out first for his side, before Eric came out still cacking his pants over everything it was possible to fill his pants over. Kaz was motioning for Eric to calm down.
Kaz & rellik started things off. They locked up with Kaz being sent into the corner. indeed, he ended up going over the top to the apron. He slingshotted in with a roll up for a 2 count. Kaz grabbed the leg and whipped iut and then hit an armdrag, barring the arm. Rellik was up quick and tagged in Black Rieng. Kaz hit a running dropkick and scored a quick 2 count. Young tagged in and the crowd popped in the hope that Eric grew a pair. Eric avoided a couple of Reign charge and slapped Dustin. He whipped Reign into the corner and then gave him a low blow. No DQ though...
He made the pin for a 1 count. Eric bailed in fear, tagging in Kaz. Kaz got a roll up, Rellik came in, with Kaz hitting a suplex with bridge pinning BOTH the heels for a 2 count. EY hesitated coming in, and that allowed the heels to take control. Rellik laid in shots to Kaz before biting his head. Chin and arm lock by Rellik turned into an overhead release suplex for a 2 ocunt. Black Reign came in and they double teamed Kaz, with Reign hitting a neckbreaker for a 2 count. Rellik came back in and went back to the rest hold. He hit the suplex again,. but Kaz landed on his feet and hit a dropkick. Kaz went for the tag, but Young ran away. Rellik hit Kaz with a spinebuster. That scored a 2 count. Kaz hit a series of kicks, leaving both men down.
This time, Eric reached for the tag and Kaz gavce it to him. Eric got a rush, but then Rellik sat up and Black Reign came in. He tagged Kaz on his way out of the arena. The heels hit a slingshot faceplant for a close 2 count. Black Rieng tagged in, but Kaz flipped over the pair and hit a double DDT. Kaz pondered his situation when some heroic music played.
Eric Young came out in a mask and cape like a superhero. He tagged in and went to work both heel scoring a splash on Reign for a 2 count. The heels looked to take Eric out, but Young ducked the clothesline. He then sent Reign into Rellik's nuts while Rellik was up top. He then picked both men up and gave them a double Death Valley Driver for the win!
WINNERS: (Super) Eric Young & Kaz
They went backstage to the Angle Alliance and Jim Cornette. Borash was pissed that the fans were letting the babyfaces keep the advantage. Angle told Cornette to make it right, but Cornette walked out. The camera followed Cornette out, but he only ran into Team 3D!
Ray told Cornette to let the fans make the stips. He wondered why Cornette always screwed "the good guys". Ray amented their recent problems with stipulations. Cornette yelled that he was out of there.
We saw a preview of the women's match.
Awesome Kong vs. Gail Kim vs. ODB in a "Triple Threat or Handicap match?" match for the Knockouts Title
Tenay & West looked at the talking points of the match before Gail made her way out to the ring. ODB was next followe by Awesome Kong, who was with Raisha Saeed.
Kong shoved awaty both opponents, They tried to whip Kong, but Kong didn't move and then clotheslined them both. She whipped them into the same corner. Kong went for the squash, btu ODB moved leaving Kim to die. ODB managed to hoist Kong onto the ropes as Kim hit a leg drop, knocking the monster out of the ring.
Gail got a sunset flip for a quick 2 count. They traded pins before Kim hit a neckbreaker. Gail went up top, but decided to dive outside to Kong. However, Kong caught her. ODB dived off the apron onto the pair of them at ringside. ODB rolled Kim back in and made the cover for a 1 count. ODB chopped Gail before a whip. ODB had a pwerslam countered, but she took Gail down, amateur style, before putting on the fornt headlock. Kim kicked out of it, but her crossbody was caught. ODB hit a fallaway slam, but she turned into a Gail Kim spear.
Gail hit some mounted punches in the corner, before (eventually) pulling ODB out the ring. She turned to see Kong was back in the ring. Kong went to work on Gail. In the corne, she choked gail, before whipping her across. Gail avoided the charge and laid in a couple of chops. Gail went for a crucifix, but it failed. The spinning backfist was blocked with Gail hitting a jawbreaker, but she was creamed with a clothesline, and was then sent into the ringpost. ODB came back in and went after Kong, but Kong worked the legs, slamming the knees off the mat. Double-handed chokeslam by Kong on ODB. Kong set for her bomb, but Gail came back in and stepped up on ODB with the enziguri to Kong.
Gail & ODB gave Kong alternate shots. ODB took a drink. Gail Kim decided to have herself some. They both climbed the rope and hit nearly simultaneous dropkicks. They both got 2 counts on Kong. Gail took ODB down with a clothesline. Gail went after Kong. Whip was reversed and Kong caught a crossbody form Gail, ODB tripped Kong up. Kong went for the Bopmb on Gail, but ODB rolled Kong up with both ladies pinning Kong for a 2 count. Kong finally hit the Bomb on Gail. Kong climbed to the second rope with a big splash, but the sure win was stopped by ODB. Kong & ODB stared each other down, but Kong grabbed an arm and hit the Implant Buster. Kong climbed up again for another splash, but ODB rolled out of the way. ODB kipped up and went after Kong. However, she couldn't get her off her feet. She finally hit a Thesz Press off the second rope for a 2 count on Kong. Saeed tripped up ODB. ODB grabbed Raisha, but Kong came form behind and hit the Awesome Bomb for the three count!
WINNER & STILL CHAMPION - AWESOME KONG
Tenay sent it to a video of Rhino on the scaffold structure, as he cut a promo about the upcoming match. Pretty decent video, has to be said. Funny bit was at the end, Rhino was heard asking "How's that?" to the producer. Too funny
Jim Cornette was in the ring. He said he wanted to address a couple of things. First, Team 3D. He had an ultimatum. If they made weight tonight, they'd weigh-in no more, but if not, they'd be gone. Next up was the main event. We saw a split-screen of team looking on. Cornette admitted that Angle's foot hit the ground first and he should have won the match, but Kurt was asking that Cornette change wreestling law and a precedent for video replay. Cornette said that was too big a decision for him, so it should go to someone more important. The TNA fans. And so, he's seen how the fans voted. He then polled the crowd and they loudly booed the idea of him over-turning the decision. They then cheered the idea of Cornette going backstage to tell Kurt to, as Zah would say, "Suck it up, princess". Cornette ruled that the decision would stand. So, we've just gone through all that rigmarole for NOTHING!!!
They sent it to a video of the upcoming Street Fight.
Shark Boy & Curry Man vs. Team 3D in a "I have a feeling "Dead Fish" is going to be a good metaphor..." Fish Market Street Fight
Team 3D came out first, and as expected, it looked literally like a fish market with crates of fish lining the aisle, as well as bit of fishing paraphinalia. Curry Man was out next and the reaction, despite what Tenay said, the reaction sounded nowhere near as loud as it does in the Impact Zone. And Don West started dancing too. I said I'd do this show and I got Don West busting a move... Rip Off Boy was next out.
Earl Hebner made his was into the ring for their final weigh in, either way. And by crikey, BRIAN HEBNER is the match referee!!! This must his debut night. D-Von was up first. The Hebner's dragged it out, but he got the Thumbs up. Ray got hesitant to get on the scales. He got on the scales, and again, after father and son dragged it out, they gave Ray the thumbs up too! West called the decision a crock. Devine gave 3D some ding-dongs to celebrate. The babyfaces rolled 3D up for a 2 count. Curry Man worked on D-Von as Shark Boy went after Ray. D-von rolled out the ring, and they doub
le teamed Ray, dropkicking him out as well.
Ray seemed to catch his head on the steps as he seemed to have a cut. 3D decided to leave altogether, but the faces went after them. Curry Man hit ray in the back with a fish while Shark Boy worked D-Von over with a bass. Curry Man gace Ray a nut shot with a fish.
Curry Man got a fishing rod and brought it in the ring. He set up the ding-dong as bait and Ray went after it! Curry man "landed" Brother Ray, pulling him into the side of the ring before hitting a dive out onto him. OK, THAT was funny.
Ray & Curry Man went back up to the fish. Curry Man grabbed a net and put it over Ray's head. He gave Ray a shot with a fish. However, Curry Man charged and Ray gavce him a backdrop into a fish crate while D-Von whipped Shark Boy into the guardrail. Ray started throwing fish at Curry Man. Ray started throwing fish into the crowd. Ray then threw fish at the announce team.
D-Von got a table out and set it up. Ray went for a powerbomb, but Shark Boy broke it up, although Devine appeared to smack Shark Boy with the kendo stick. Devine wrapped a net around Shark Boy while 3D worked over Curry Man in the Ring. They did the Whazzup deal with a fish doing the headbutt honours.
D-Von set Curry Man in the Tree Of Woe, where they used a rowing paddle and a fishing rod on Curry Man's nuts. The crowd chanted for tables, but they climbed the rope, and managed to both miss moves on Curry Man. Shark Boy came back in off the top onto them. Shark Boy hit a back drop on D-Von. He hit a Thesz Press on Ray, but D-Von creamed him with a clothesline. D-Von then hit the Saving Grace on Curry Man for a 2 count. Shark Boy & Devine fought it out on the outside. The Did the Whazzup deal again, but Shark Boy pushed D-Von off the top and the babyfaces hit it themselves with Shark Boy using a fish to Ray's nuts.
Curry man went up top and hit a crossbody on D-Von for a 2 count. Shark Boy hit a neckbreaker for a 2 count. They whipped 3D into each other and then hit X Factor's for simultaneous 2 counts. They set them up and hit twin tornado DDt's for twin 2 counts.
Mounted punches to 3D in the corner, but Ray dumped Curry Man out and then they hit the Dudley Death Device for a close 2 count. Curry Man crawled back in/ Devine gave Ray a trash can, but Curry Man avoided a shot. Curry Man hit a couple of shots of their own. Devine came in with power but it hit Ray. Devine was sent through the table. Shark Boy & Curry Man gave D-von a flapjack and Ray joined in making it a 3D on D-Von. Curry Man picked up the pin for the win!
WINNERS - SHARK BOY & CURRY MAN
3D left walking past Johnny Fairplay and some guy voted off of Survivor. Security dragged Survivor Guy away as they went backstage.
Borash was with the Angle Alliance as Angle tried to talk strategy. Tomko said he was the only one who won, and he'd be out there. AJ said he to sit it out sinc ehe couldn't stop thinking of Karen. Kurt picked him up and went nose to nose. Kurt said they were the best tag team going so he'd stay back. Tomko & Kurt left. AJ begged Borash for info on Karen, He said somehting about a "bombshell", as AJ tried to find out what he meant.
Robert Roode vs. Booker T in a "Hey, wrestling and some light porn!" Strap match
Roode Inc. made their way out first, followed by Booker & Traci. Funny moment when Booker came out. When his pyro went off, the cameraman looked as if he crapped himself since he was so close. Booker had a massive grin on his face, while Traci looked as serious as serious can be.
Roode was hesitant to get strapped up as we saw the strap one of the women would be using. Roode kept refusing to put the strap on. He started counting for some reason, but Roode finally allowed him to get attacked. Roode dived out the ring and tried to pull Booker out, but Booker won the tug of war and went to work on Roode in the corner. He hit a backdrop on Roode. roode again tried rolling out, but Booker pulled him back in and started choking Roode with the strap. Back kick to Roode.
Roode raked the eyes before laying in shots in the corner. Roode used the strap to choke Booker before hitting a shoulder to Booker's gut. However, Booker blocked a shot and fired back, taking Roode into the other corner. Booker was whipped across, and being clever went to float over a charge, but a charge didn't come. Roode went to work on Booker. He hit a knee drop for a 2 count. at the ropes, Roode choked Booker. Roode wrapped the strap up and punched Booker. They began exchanging shots, before Booker hit a clothesline. A suplex scored a 2 count for Booker.
Roode kneed Booker in the gut. And then he blocked a Booker charge, but Roode ran into a Booker spinebuster. Booker went for the Axe Kick, but Roode ducked it and hit a DDT for a 2 count. Roode had a suplex countered, and a Book End met the same fate. The referee was bumped and both men clotheslined each other. The women started fighting, when Banks produced a set of cuffs. Traci passed the to Booker, but the ditract allowed a low blow and then Roode picked up the cuffs and used them like Brass Knuckles. Roode made the cover and scored the win!
WINNER - ROBERT ROODE
This meant Peyton would get to whip Traci! Booker pleaded his case to the referee, but security came down to get Booker to leave. Booker went after Roode, but Security did their job for once and pulled Booker away. The ref got Traci to get in the ring for her punishment.
She held onto the rope, bracing herself. Peyton Banks started with the lashes. And she didn't seem to be pulling punches. Traci dropped to her knees on the third. She began to cry after the fourth. She then spat at Roode. After 8, Roode talked to Peyton with an idea. Peyton hit her last 2 shots and then went buck with more shots, getting in as many as she could. Went Peyton stopped, Traci managed to get the strap. Roode got in the ring and stopped Traci form using the strap. Roode shoved Traci down. They motioned as if they were going to leave, but Roode couldn't resist one more.
Suddenly, Sharmell ran in and strapped Roode. Sharmell than gave Peyton a couple of strappings. Security hit the ring, and Sharmell strapped everything in sight!!! Jim Cornette came out to try and stop her. Cornette turned his back and Sharmell decided to strap him too! Roode and Peyton ran away as security managed to subdue her.
They went backstage with Crystal, who was with James Storm & Jackie. Crystal said the match was stupid and dangerous. CRYSTAL SPEAKS THE TRUTH! She postulated that it would be the end of Storm's career. Storm said it could end him. He told Rhino that he backed down from no-one. He didn't think Rhino would ask for the match when Rhino must have known he was crazy enough to accept it. He produced a beer bottle, which hadn't been opened, showing that he hadn't had a dirnk today, but he was going to take a six pack up with him in readiness for his upcoming celebration.
Rhino vs. James Storm in a "I'm praying, and I'm an athiest..." Elevation X match
Well, here we go. Let's just hope. The announcers and the preview talked about the fear of watching such a match. That's a selling point there, so it is. Sotrm came out first and we saw Jackie had a six pack as promised, as well as some sort of "sash"-cord. Climbing rope. Storm took the rope up with him. Storm actually struggled to climb up to the platform. Storm took the rope and passed on end down to Jackie. And the whole point of the rope? To send the six pack up!
Storm crawled on all fours to push the beer into the middle of the X platform. Tenay said that West had just mouthed "I hate this match". Rhino almost slipped off the truss as he climbed up! West ragged on TNA because the height of the roof meant for chain holidng the structure, making it sawy more!!!
As Rhino got up, Storm climbed all the way down to the floor. Rhino started throwing the beer at Storm. Rhino eventually decided to follow Storm down and face him on the floor. Rhino took it to Storm in the aisle. Rhino whipped the Cowboy in to the guardrail. Rhino pulled out a table from under the ring. He put it in the ring and pulled out another one, sliding that one in. Rhino then pulled out a trash can and tossed that in too. Rhino sent Storm face-first into the can before setting up the table in the corner. Storm raked the eyes. Rhino avoided being sent into the table, but took a kick to the head. Storm set up the other table. The crowd seemed unsure of what was going on, since they were supposed to be up on the platform, and yet were watching somehting akin to a street fight. Rhio was hit with the can and placed on the table, Storm climbed up, but Rhino met up in the corner. The suplex through the table was blocked. Storm was hit with a belly to belly suplex. Rhino readied for The Gore, but Jackie distracted him.
Jackie began to climb the structure. Rhino followed her up. She got to the top, and crawled across the platform. Rhio went after her and Storm climbed up after him! Jackie started climbing down the other side and Storm hit the Platform. Suddenly both men were up top. Rhino turned to see Storm, and stalked him. Storm offered a handshake, but Rhino didn't take it and told Storm to come to him.
Rhino went to sit on the platform and almost fell. Rhino straddled the platform as Storm got to the middle. Storm's face was planted and he teased slipping over. Rhino threw a punch and almost fell down!!!
Both men ended up clinging on and trading punched. They managed to climb back up to the platform. Rhino's face met the platform a couple of times. Storm tried AJ's trick from last time where he hid under the platform. Rhino cleared the sweat form his eyes before wondering where Storm was, seemingly forgetting what AJ did.
Rhino finally figured it out and reached under the platform. He didn't feel Storm, but he pulled out the part of the platform and revealed Storm like a prize. Storm spat beer in Rhino's face, but he slipped and crotched himself on the trussing. In a sick way, he was lucky. Storm ended up slipping through to under the platform. Rhino kicked at Storm and he eventually fell down through the table he had set up earlier. It looked like he gave the table a double stomp, so if there's a problem, it's likely to be his legs.
WINNER - RHINO
Upon replay, he looked as if he hit it ass/hip first, and his neck and head hit the mat hard. But the announcers then moved right along to cutting to the preview of the main event.
Samoa Joe, Christian Cage & Kevin Nash vs. The Angle Alliance in a "Yeah, because that five minutes is going to really hurt the short-handed team..." match
AJ & Tomko made their way out for their team, so Kurt was definitely showing up late to the dance. So yeah, can the TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS last FIVE minutes???????
Cage came out first for his team, no worse for wear from Thursday. Nash was out next and boy, his pre-entrance video is phenominally short. And Nash's knees are obviously hurting, since he shambled to the ring like Terry Funk. Not deliberately, mind you. It was natural. And then Joe made his way out.
As the bell rang, AJ & Tomko talked strategy while the babyfaces wasted time posing. The heels continued to stall, although AJ seemed willing to get in the ring with Tomko holding him back. Joe & Nash finally went after them and Cage & AJ started things off. Cage hit a corkscrew elbow for a 1 count. And that was with less than four minutes to go. AJ threw fists and tagged in Tomko. Tomko sent Cage ionto the corner, but the charge was avoided. Cage bit Tomko but ran into a press slam attempt. Cage slipped out, but Tomko hit one on the second attempt for a 2 count. Joe & Nash held otmko in the corner for Cage punched. AJ ran in, but Christian speared him hard. Joe was tagged in. Tomko took rights in the corner before being whipped across and an ass splash. Nash was tagged in. Scoop Slam and elbow drop scored a 2 count for Nash. Cage came back in off the tag, but Tomko took him into the heel corner. AJ tagged in, but a corner splash was blocked. He went up top, but Tomko distracted Cage, allowing AJ to slam Cage off the corner. AJ hit the Spiral Tap on Cage. Nash came in and hit a chokeslam. Tomko took out Nash and Joe took out Tomko. Joe went up the ramp to meet Angle has the clock ran out.
Angle took his time to go down the ramp and Joe stared holes in the champ. Angle ran at Joe and they went into a slugfest. Joe hit knees to the head. However, Angle got one back himself. He tagged in right awat and the pair continued to trade blows. Angle ducked a clothesline but Joe decided to dive out onto Tomko. Christian climb up and knocked Angle down, then hitting a Frog Splash for a 2 count. Angle sent Cage outside. hebner prevented Joe & Nash form coming in as AJ dived onto Christian on the outside. AJ went in the ring and put on a chinlock.
Cage got back to his feet, but he ran off the ropes into a standing dropkick. Tomko was tagged in. Tomko worked Cage over, but Christian fought back. He tried to tag out, but Tomko drove him into the heel corner before hitting a fallaway slam for a 2 count. Angle was tagged in and Cage was bleeding. Barely. Cage put in an Ankle Lock, but Joe came in to break it up. The ref managed ot break things up. Angle put another one in, but Cage kicked him off. Cage hit Angle with an inverted DDT and then clotheslined AJ down, who had ran in. Kevin Nash took the hot tag (!!!) and he ran wild on all the heels. Tomko took a big boot and Angle was jacknifed. However, AJ jumped in with a low dropkick to the knee.
Angle crawled over and tagged Tomko but Nash tagged Joe and he ran wild on everyone as well. He set AJ for the Muscle Buster, but Angle low blowed him, and AJ hit the pele for a 2 count. Things broke down leaving us with Tomko & Joe. Tomko was cuahg tin the Kokina Clutch, and with everyone fighting, and thus no-one to save him, Tomko tapped out.
WINNERS - SAMOA JOE, KEVIN NASH & CHRISTIAN CAGE
That show was better than it had any right to be really, but again, I hope Elevation X is put to bed for good. Also, I'm not entirely sure how much the Angle Alliance has been weakened as Tenay sold the idea of. Very decent show overall though.
