Pro Wrestling Unplugged Press Conference: The Future of the Comapny Without Tod Gordon, "Wrestling Reality," Leaving New Alhambra Arena, and More
By James Bullock

Here we are for PWU’s wrestling State of PWU address. As you know by now, Tod Gordon stepped down as head of PWU, retiring from wrestling. In his place is Johnny Kashmere, who is hoping to reintroduce PWU as a whole new entity. But the question is what does Kashmere, and the rest of PWU management has in mind for this new era. Lets check in with Nate Stein to find out.

Stein, who is the Vice Prez of PWU, goes through the formalities before talking about the July Family Reunion show, which will have a fan contest to determine the Commissioner of PWU. No joke. PWU will have a fan as Commissioner. For info to see if you have the guts to step, check out the PWU website. Money is next on the list…yeah, yeah. Nate confirms that the money is set in Kashmere, and his father, who will be one of the key financial backers of this new age, promising no bouncing checks.

Now to the real story, what is “Wrestling Reality?” Well, lets just say we could be watching Trent Acid taking a dump in his home. PWU wants to go that extra mile, that next steps in the evolutionary chain of prowrestling. PWU wants the fans to experience the lives of their favorite wrestlers, and be a part of that life, through video and interaction. Another factor is you, the fan. Imagine walking into a PWU show, and sitting down with a box of popcorn in the third row, seat eight. With “Wrestling Reality,” you, yeah you with the popcorn, could dictate what you want to see at a PWU event, while being there. Sounds cool.

Nate goes to the questions posted live by the PWU faithful. The first is about the leaving of PWU’s home of the New Alhambra (old ECW) arena. The reason for this was just simple as a racial slur…wait, what? Yes, Michael Pancoast, who runs the tech for the arena, used a racial slur toward Jose & Joel Maximo of the S.A.T, and with that, PWU bid adieu. The follow up to that previous question is about the World Gym, where PWU will be doing shows from now on. Nate feels that this will be an upgrade, a place where they’ve pulled over 800 fans in before.

The next question involves the Crazy 8 show, which was supposed to be in June, but now wiped off the site, and Power Surge TV. The Crazy 8 is planned to return. PSTV, on the other hand, is gone! In it’s place will be full interactivity, where the fans will voice their opinions while getting footage of exclusive matches from around the country involving PWU talent. Also, Nate Stein promises upgrades to the website, one being High Voltage, which is already up. High Voltage is the first step into “Wrestling Reality’s” fan interaction.

“Will PWU do a show outside of Philly” is asked? Nate really doesn’t know. Money, and most importantly, a solid fan-base are the biggest questions when thinking about putting a show on the road. But there is talk of PWU in the Midwest.

“What about Tod Gordon?” Simply, Tod left to take care of his father, who is really ill. Everyone is praying for the Gordon family.

Family Reunion is brought up, which will be held in the World Gym on July 26th. There will be three huge main events. First up is the #1 Contendership match for the PWU title between Trent Acid and Christopher “Masterpiece” Masters! Next is Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Sandman! I’m doing a Flavor Flav, “WOOOOW,” right now. And last, but not least, is the PWU title match between John McChesney against…a man who will be announced on the website on Memorial Day. Gotta keep some secrets, right? Nate promises a lot of big names (Sunny, Blue Meanie) in the future, and PWU mainstays (Amy Lee and The Best Around) will be back. For Family Reunion, and future events, backstage passes (limited) will be up for sale to give the fans a true reality experience.

Nate runs down some big dates, which you can look up on the PWU website. Nate Stein says that every fourth Saturday of the month will be “PWU weekend.” Clear your calendars. You have a fair warning. If you double book, PWU’s residential bodyguard/monster Annihilation will come after you. I know you don’t want that. Annihilation also warns anyone who plans to attend a PWU event, watch your language, actions, and gestures, or you’ll have to deal with him.

Mr. Stein goes back to the questions, with the first touching on StickCam, and the possibility of showing live events on it. Nate likes that idea, but the execution would be flawed. With possible down moments, lagging, and just not being able to give the fans a stress-free environment, right now that’s not an option.

Nate touches on the Animal House, PWU’s first home, which one fan wanted to know why they stopped going there. Cramped spaces, code violations, and just not the best neighborhood to leave your car in were the main reasons for leaving. And that concludes this Press Conference.
