RDLee Presents: "The One UFC Fight We Need To See In 2010"
I just watched this fan made trailer for a potential third and final match between UFC champion Brock Lesnar and former champ Frank Mir and it gave me goosebumps. This is one fight that we NEED to see this year. They are 1-1 against each other so a rubber match is necessary to determine who the better man is once and for all. Frank Mir stopped Brock in the most controversial fashion during Lesnar's UFC debut and only second MMA fight ever by submission. The referee suddenly stood the fight up for no reason after Brock was destroying Mir via ground and pound in the opening minutes and landed a shot to the back of Mir's head as he was covering up. Every time this happens in any other fight the guy that hits a shot to the back of the head usually gets a warning or point deduction but not stood up so that was a little strange to me. Mir then caught the inexperienced rookie Lesnar in a leg lock submission after once again getting dropped by a powerful shot that nearly ended the fight. Lesnar was humble in defeat and vowed to learn from his mistakes even though there was no question who really won the fight had it not been stood up. Lesnar then went on to defeat veteran Heath Herring in convincing and dominating fashion at UFC 87 by unanimous decision after controlling the fight the entire time. Brock then went on to win the UFC Heavyweight championship by stopping MMA Legend Randy "The Natural" Couture by TKO in only his 4th fight at UFC 91. Frank Mir went on to beat Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira by knock out at UFC 97 and became the first man to ever stop Big Nog by KO to win the interim title thus setting up a second match between Lesnar and Mir to unify the belts. UFC 100 saw the highly anticipated rematch and Brock Lesnar wasn't kidding when he told Mir he wouldn't make the same mistakes he made in their first fight. As fate would have it, Lesnar destroyed Mir and pounded him out in the second round in brutal fashion proving to the MMA world that the first fight was a fluke to him. Since that time Lesnar has been out for nearly 7 months with a stomach illness that nearly ended his fighting career. He recently announced he would make a return in the Summer time to fight the winner of Frank Mir v.s. Shane Carwin for the UFC Heavyweight championship. Frank Mir himself is coming off a impressive win over the normally terrifying Cheick Kongo at UFC 107 when he submitted him via guillotine in the first round after blasting the striker with a powerful right hand that knocked him to the floor. Mir has been obsessed with Lesnar ever since he was humiliated at UFC 100 by him and has been talking non stop about doing what ever it takes to fight him again and prove he can beat him to end the rivalry. The only thing standing in Mir's way is the undefeated former number one contender Shane Carwin who is 10-0 in his MMA career and he isn't going to make it easy for Mir to get what he wants. If Mir can beat Carwin, then we will get to see the final match in the biggest rivalry MMA has seen in years. Brock Lesnar v.s. Frank Mir 3 has the potential to shatter previous UFC 100 box office and PPV buyrate records if it happens this year. I will predict Lesnar once again winning in the rubber match and ending all talk about him being just a one trick pony as he will submit Mir to win the third fight instead of doing what people would expect out of him such as using the power and wrestling he is known for. But no matter who wins it would be good for the sport in general. I guess we just have to wait and see how the rest of this story unfolds but I have a feeling that fate and destiny will show their true colors in this one and it will happen. When it does... We will all be watching history unfold once again. So until then... Enjoy the trailer above and say a little prayer that this fight takes place in 2010! Thanks for reading and Stay Classy!
