Who will J.G.'s guest be?

**********

Welcome to WWI's ongoing coverage of Raw, live from the Thompson-Boling Arena at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Tonight's guest hosts will be Don Johnson and Jon Heder. Who? Well, of course I know who Dreamy Don is. But Jon Heder? I Googled the name and learned he had been the main character in "Napoleon Dynamite." According to WWE.com, "he has enjoyed tremendous success this decade in a variety of comedies." I still don't know who he is, but then "this decade" is only two weeks old. Nonetheless, Don and Jon have a new movie, "When in Rome," which is set for release on January 29 and, no doubt, suitable for plugging tonight.

* * *

A tribute to the late Martin Luther King started the show. "Long Live the Dream."

Mister McMahon had something to say and strutted his way to the ring. After making a crack about the venue, he moved on to the subject at hand--Bret Hart. McMahon called him a broken-down old warhorse who needed to be put down. Like a piece of gum, Hart had lost his flavor and McMahon spit him out. Obvioulsy, McMahon still has issues with the Hitman. As McMahon continued to rant, the Undertaker's tolling bell could be heard. Uh oh, was the expression on McMahon's face.

'Taker stood in the ring, ignoring the McBoss, who chided him for interrupting his air time. Au contraire, said the Deadman. It was now his time. He'd come out with a message for Shawn Michaels, but first, he said he'd been there 12 years ago in Montreal. He'd seen the whole thing. He'd seen the fear in McMahon's eyes then and can see it now. McMahon had screwed Bret Hart, not once but twice, and is now terrified of the consequences. It had been the act of a coward.

McMahon disagreed with Undertaker's point of view, but granted 'Taker the time he'd requested.

The Undertaker continued. HBK had asked for a rematch with the Undertaker at WrestleMania and it was an answer he wanted to deliver personally.

Right on cue, "Sexy Boy" hit and a somber HBK came out to a loud crowd chant. 'Taker said HBK had come close, but he'd still failed. 'Taker had nothing to prove to HBK and his final answer was "No."

HBK was about to throw a hissy fit when 'Taker said he would be willing to give HBK a rematch tonight.

"No" was HBK's answer. He preferred to beat the Undertaker on the greatest stage of them all. Michaels said that he intended to enter the Royal Rumble and he would win. And he would see UT at WrestleMania. The streak, the title and the Undertaker's soul would be HBK's.

Now THAT was promo!

(Commercial break)

(1) Sheamus the Pale vs. Evan Bourne.

As the match got underway, Randy Orton headed down the ramp to glare at Sheamus. Bourne took advantage of the distraction and very nearly took the win. Celtic Cross by Sheamus led to a winning pin on Bourne.

More glaring between Orton and Sheamus, and Sheamus took the opportunity to show off the title belt to Orton.

Triple H and HBK were discussing HBK's promo with the UT, but Don Johnson interrupted to ask if they'd seen Jon Heder. HBK said he didn't know who Heder was.

Johnson saw someone who looked like Napoleon Dynamite and when he greeted him, it turned out to be Carlito in a curly red wig and nerdy glasses, who said he didn't know who Napoleon Dynamite was.

(Guess I'm not the only one who didn't know who Heder was.)

(Commercial break)

Jack Swagger, the All American American, had accepted an All Italian Italian challenge by Santino last week and Santino had prevailed. Swagger insisted it had been a fluke and reissued the challenge to Santino.

Santino came out dressed like Don Johnson from his "Miami Vice" days. He was dressed as the President of the Italian Don Johnson Fan Club, and could not muss up his white linen slacks and blazer. Therefore, Mark Henry would be taking Santino's place in tonight's match.

(2) Jack Swagger vs. Mark Henry.

Mark Henry picked up Swagger, dropped him over the top rope, and took the win almost immediately.

A limo pulled into the garage and the Bellas got out, along with Jon Heder, who thought he was in Nashville rather than Knoxville.  Dip sh*t.

(Commercial break)

Finally, the guest hosts showed up in the arena, each with a Bella Twin on his arm. Anybody have a pin to drop? These guys are tanking.

Don Johnson said the main event would feature DX. Heder said he'd rather see something new, and got heartily booed for mentioning Lane Kiffin, former University of Tennessee football coach.

At least The Miz is getting some airtime out of this boring segment. He had confused MVP with Phillip Michael Thomas.

MVP came out to say he was from Miami … blah, blah, blah … and challenged The Miz to a match. Before they could get started, Big Show came out and knocked out MVP. It turned out that Big Show and Heder had the same agent.  Heder made a match between DX and Big Show & The Miz. (No reaction from the crowd at all.)

(Commercial break)

Finally, someone the crowd was happy so see--John Cena.

(3) John Cena & Kofi Kingston vs. Legacy (Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase).

I could swear I heard Lawler confuse the names Randy Orton with Randy Savage. Well, after listening to the crappy segment with the guest hosts, it's easy enough to get confused. In the ring, Legacy was dominating their opponents. Hot tag to John Cena, who attempted to pin Rhodes, but DiBiase interfered. Kofi was able to leap off the top rope and pin Cody, giving Kofi and Cena the win.

Some hard feelings were hinted at between Cody and Teddy.

In the guest hosts' dressing room, Hornswoggle and Jon Heder were added to the six-man tag match. Goody.

(Commercial break)

(4) Diva Tag Team Match: Maryse & Alicia Fox vs. Gail Kim & Eve Torres.

Not the best of matches--so-so action and missed spots. Gail and Eve were the winning team.

Stone Cold Steve Austin will appear on "Chuck" next Monday night before Raw.

(Commercial break)

Don Johnson was flirting with Kelly Kelly when Heder burst in and wanted Johnson to take his place in the match. Johnson suggested getting a stuntman to take Heder's place. Big Show had had a costume made for Heder with spangles and feathers--he'd be called The Flame. Get it? Nudge, nudge.

Mister McMahon was griping to Triple H about UT calling him a coward. Son-in-law said it appeared that all the McMahons needed to have the last word. If McMahon doesn't call Bret out, Triple H counseled, the whole world will think he's a coward.

Triple H kept trying to tell HBK something, but kept getting interrupted.

(Commercial break)

(5) No. 1 Contender for WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton vs. Chris Masters (w/Eve).

Sheamus came down to ringside to watch the match.

Masters gave it his best shot, but Orton managed to escape the Master Lock with an arm across the rope. Although Orton managed pin Masters for the win, he got blindsided by a kick to the chops from Sheamus after the match.

Jon Heder's match is coming up next. You've been warned.

(Commercial break)

(6) Six-Man Tag: DX, Don Johnson & Hornswoggle vs. Big Show, The Miz & Jon Heder.

Fortunately, it is the top of the third hour. This match can't possibly last too long.

Heder took off his ring robe to reveal that he is just as pale as Sheamus. He got a face full of chin music and a splash from Hornswoggle. One thing led to another and Team DX and won.  The match was a mess.

Triple H finally got to say what he wanted to HBK. He wanted to say that the match between UT and HBK at WM would not work out.

John Cena came out with an announcement of his own. He wanted to officially compete in the Royal Rumble and intended to win the whole thing.

Big Show climbed back into the ring. He intended to enter the Royal Rumble, too.

Cena took out Big Show, then Triple H tossed HBK out of the ring.

Triple H finally got to finish what he wanted to say. None of the others stood a chance, warned Triple H, since he was going to enter the Rumble.

Thus ends this partially good and largely insipid episode of Raw.

WWE continues to try my patience as a fan with this endless parade of guest hosts who add nothing to the shows.
