There won't be a J.G.'s Raw Insanity tonight, but check back tomorrow to find out which of the January 4 shows J.G. will be covering next Monday night--TNA or Raw?

*********************

Welcome to WWI's ongoing coverage of Raw, live from the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

This will be the last Raw of the decade, and the guest host who will ring out 2009 will be hip hop's Timbaland.

The show opened with Chris Jericho addressing a crowd outside with a bullhorn in an attempt to get them to sign a petition to allow him to return to Raw. (Hey, I'll sign.)

Out first was John Cena who reached under the ring and pulled out a table, which he slid into the ring. Obviously, Cena was getting set for his rematch with Sheamus. Cena said on this final Raw of 2009, he intends to get his title belt back.

Sheamus got all pissy that Cena was making the rules and said Raw belonged to him. Cena countered that Raw belonged to the WWE Universe. The crowd liked that.

Sheamus said he intended to make it a one-on-one match in the main event later tonight.

Oh yeah?

Cena picked up Sheamus and put him through the table.

Timbaland, the guest host, was shown backstage with a few divas. Josh Matthews interrupted and asked Timbaland about the Cena/Sheamus match. Timbaland asked the audience if they wanted to see the match tonight? You betcha, was the answer.

Legacy ran into Randy Orton backstage and asked His Grumpy Self what was wrong. He said Legacy had been beaten consistently lately. They were surprised when Orton assigned matches to them tonight to prove that they were not failures. Orton said if they lost he'd kick the living hell out of both of them. Oh, and he'd kick them out of Legacy, too. What a guy.

Jericho was still outside picketing to return to Raw.

Orton came out to watch the upcoming Legacy matches.

Outside, Jericho used the bullhorn to complain about being a victim of a conspiracy. No one appeared to be listening, but it sounds like a potential episode of Jesse Ventura's new show.  ("Conspiracy Theory," Wednesday nights on TRUTV.)

(1) Ted DiBiase (star of "The Marine 2") vs. Evan Bourne.

A clip aired of "The Marine 2" which goes on sale tomorrow. DiBiase certainly looks the part and it looks like a good movie.

Orton was seated at ringside with the usual sour look on his face.

Good action between the two competitors, as always. Short match won by DiBiase. But even though DiBiase made the winning pin, Orton still looked sullen. Surely he can't still consider Teddy a failure now.

(Commercial break)

(2) Cody Rhodes vs. Mark Henry.

Cody was literally getting tossed from pillar to post. Cody tried to drop kick Henry, but the big man didn't even budge. However, Mark Henry landed wrong on his leg and injured his knee. DDT by Cody Rhodes, who made the winning pin. Orton seemed to approve of Cody's actions and walked off with his arm around his shoulder.

Jillian Hall tried to get a member of Timbaland's entourage to put a good word in for her and her so-called singing. Not gonna happen.

More witty banter from DX and Hornswoggle.

Jillian knocked on Timbaland's door and she started singing for him. It turned into an exhibition of "midget bowling" when DX rolled Hornswoggle, who had been duct taped to a skateboard, toward her and knocked her down.

(Commercial break)

(3) Divas Match: Kelly Kelly vs. Maryse.

Apparently Kelly Kelly and Maryse had been in a Timbaland video several years ago.  Trivia, trivia everywhere.

Maryse won this match, such as it was. Then Maryse grabbed a mic and started cackling like a hen, and said the poop word, although I believe what she said was poupee (doll).

Mister McMahon was shown on his way to the ring for a big announcement.

(Commercial break)

Big Show came outside and urged Jericho to let it go. All good things come to an end, he said, including their tag team partnership. Big Show handed him an envelope, which Jericho said he would cherish.

Mister McMahon waddled down to the ring to address the rumors that Bret Hart was coming back next week. YEA!!!!! A clip aired of the Excellence of Execution at work. Then came the 1997 Montreal Screwjob. "Bret Hart screwed Bret Hart," insisted McMahon. McMahon said Hart had showed him utter contempt and mendacity at the Hall of Fame ceremonies; however, McMahon said he was the better man and he would allow....  But McMahon had a terrible time getting the words out and finally said that Bret Hart would never be back.

Shawn Michaels' music hit and he headed to the ring to speak with McMahon. HBK looked troubled and told McMahon that sometimes there are rivalries that are even bigger than the industry. McMahon thought he was talking about Hart, but HBK said he was talking about the Undertaker. HBK wanted a rematch with the Undertaker at WrestleMania. McMahon refused. If the match was to happen, then HBK would have to make it happen.

HBK decided to push one of McMahon's buttons and suggested that VKM bring some closure to the Bret matter. He urged McMahon to bring Hart back to Monday Night Raw and "only good things would happen."

Note:  There is some significance to the term "only good things will happen."  What could it be?

McMahon said he was fearless. He liked that phrase about good things, however. HBK said he would be happy to see Bret "The Hitman" Hart one more time.

Okay, conceded McMahon. The first guest host of the new decade will be BRET "THE HITMAN" HART.

Josh Matthews was joined by John Cena. Before Josh could get his question out, Sheamus blindsided Cena.

(Commercial break)

The Divas were dissing "Morris" while Timbaland talked business with MVP. Kofi Kingston came in and discussed his match with The Miz. MVP asked for the first title shot once Kofi beats The Miz. Miz overheard and was offended by their premature matchmaking.

Miz made a remark to Gail Kim which Timbaland overheard; this caused him to set a title match after Miz's upcoming match with Kofi.

(4) The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston.

This will be a non-title match, unless it complies with some convoluted rules. It was a fast match, during which Kofi knocked The Miz out. Okay, now that The Miz lost, he will have to defend his title.

(Commercial break)

(5) U.S. Championship Match: The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston.

With The Miz still reeling from the previous match, it looked like The Miz and his title would soon be parted. However, Randy Orton, who never does anything nice for anybody, caused a DQ, giving The Miz the win via DQ. Kofi was left laying on the concrete outside the ring.

(Commercial break)

Josh Matthews stopped Orton backstage and asked why he'd attacked Kofi. The ever-charming Orton said he could think of no better way to kick off the year than by kicking someone in the skull.  Figures.

DX headed down the ramp to find out if the audience was ready. DX mentioned that Big Show had looked a little blue without his partner in crime.

Suddenly Jericho, who had been banished from Raw, came down to the ring and showed DX that he had a front row ticket, provided by Big Show.

(6) DX vs. Big Show & Chavo Guerrero.

[Technical difficulties]

Pedigree by Triple H to Chavo to take the win for DX. Somewhere along the way Big Show had gotten knocked out of the ring. Jericho attempted to get into the ring and got a face full of Sweet Chin Music on his way out.

An exasperated Triple H said he would grant Jericho a rematch next week, but once Jericho loses, then he'll be gone forever.

(Commercial break)

Guest Ring Announcer, Timbaland, was introduced. He was wearing a Cena tee shirt. Wonder if Sheamus will get a fair shake? Don't care.

(7) Sheamus vs. John Cena.

These two started throwing, Rockem Sockem style. Cena won by DQ when Sheamus grabbed the ropes and knocked the referee down. Cena wasn't through yet; and he chased Sheamus up the ramp and brought him back to the ring. Cena got a face full of boot for his trouble.

Oh well, there's always next week.
