RDLee's WWE Monday Night Raw Report - Nexus Does Their Best Paul Bunyan Impression's As They Lumberjack The Main Event

By RDLee Aug 9, 2010 - 8:43 PM

We kicked off Raw tonight with Bret Hart coming out in a very cool Batman T-Shirt probably poking fun at the long time rumor that he wanted to play the role after Michael Keaton left in the 90's. Bret ran down Edge and Jericho for quitting team WWE (hey! he got it right this time!) He asked them to come out so they could speak. Jericho came out and told him his answer was still no after Bret ran him down. Edge came out next and told Bret that he idolized him as a young man and that he could count him back in on the team. Edge then suddenly went for a sneak attack but Bret caught him and went for the Sharpshooter. Jericho saved him by poking him in the eye. Suddenly Natalya ran out looking upset as we saw Nexus beating the Hart Dynasty down on the titantron. Bret and Nattie ran towards the back as the commercials hit.

We saw Bret with the Hart Dynasty as they recovered from the attack when we got back. Hart picked up a chair and said he was gonna go after them and put a stop to them himself. John Cena came in, stopped him and told him to stay there. He said that he needs to find out who is on the team. He is gonna go talk to the Great Khali first.

The Miz v.s. Evan Bourne

I'm still not sure why Bourne and Mark Henry aren't on Team Cena for the Summerfest match against Nexus, they always seemed to be his "go-to" guys. Evan was sporting a nice black eye. The crowd chanted "Miz is Awesome" which shows how long he has come along as a performer. These two had amazing chemistry and I would be sad if they didn't score a PPV bout down the line. Miz nailed the Skull Crushing Finale for the win. Miz spoke about how he doesn't care who the WWE champion is this Sunday because when he cashes is his MITB briefcase he will win.

Winner: The Miz

-

Melina v.s. Alicia Fox

Former WWE Woman's champ Melina made a surprise return last week and is taking on Fox tonight in a non-title match to see where she stands in the division's pecking order. The crowd was actually into this match which was surprising. Meline hit a Sunset Flip Powerbomb to win her first match back. Looks like they botched the finish a little or Melina is selling a back injury for no reason. The GM said during the commercial break that Alicia Fox will defend the Diva's title against Melina at Summerfest.

Winner: Melina

Ted Dibiase (w/Maryse) v.s. Mark Henry

Both guys are wanting in on Team WWE for the Summerfest match against Nexus. They consider this an audition of sorts. Well, nevermind that because Nexus attacked Henry before he got to the ring. They threw him onto the steel steps like a lawn dart. Dibiase and Maryse ran off somewhere I guess because we didn't see them again. The match never took place obviously.

No Contest

Sheamus came out and ran down Randy Orton and mentioned how he put Triple H on the shelf. He called him out. Orton's music hit and he came to the ring. Randy told him that he has never beaten him. I guess he forgot about how he beat him at the Royal Rumble in January. The General Manager buzzed in and told Sheamus that if anyone interferes in their match this Sunday they would be suspended indefinitely. However if Randy Orton loses than he will get no rematch. He also encouraged Sheamus to do something to Orton right now if he wasn't afraid of him. Sheamus shook his head no and started to walk away. He turned around and faked throwing a punch but Orton was not amused and attacked him. Sheamus took a backbreaker but cowered in fear when Randy faked going for the Punt to the head.

-

Kaval, Percy Watson and Lucky Cannon v.s. Michael McGillicuty, Alex Riley and Husky Harris

This was an odd match to showcase on RAW but I don't mind. Fuck Lucky Cannon, he better be eliminated next or else the WWE Universe is full of morons. I wonder if he sniffed anyone tonight? Sheamus sat ringside pacing and showing he was still upset about the confrontation he had with Orton a few minutes ago. The pace and crowd reaction picked up when Kaval tagged in. Lucky Cannon did one move and hurt himself. Lame. Husky Harris tagged himself in and hit the huge Senton to pick up the win for his team. Sheamus became my hero when he planted Lucky Cannon with the Pump Kick. He took out Kaval too with the High Cross. The other rookies ran away like pussies. They should have done a Nexus beatdown to him. That would have been cool.

Winners: McGillicutty, Riley, and Harris

-

R-Truth and John Morrison v.s. William Regal and Zack Ryder

How are Ryder and Regal relagated to doing jobs to everyone including Santino now? Can't they bring back the good ol' "Ham and Eggers" for matches like this? Regal and Matt Hardy should team instead and call themselves the "Pregnant Men". I'm fat as hell but don't look pregnant like they do. Morrison stole Paul Birchill's old Backflip Rock Bottom move and then got the win for his team with another shitty looking Star Ship Pain. Truth and Morrison shook hands after the match showing they are still on the same page.

Winners: R-Truth and John Morrison

-

Eve Torres and Gail Kim v.s. The Bella Twins v.s. Jillian Hall and Maryse

This was a triple threat match with special guest ref Santino Marella. I didn't watch much of it because it was stupid as hell. The Bella's won with a Flying Crossbody off the top rope on Jillian. This is the first match I can remember them winning in a long time. Tamina came out and got in Santino's face for some reason and then slapped his ass when he walked away. I guess this will set up the Uso's and Kozlov/Marella down the line. He told the crowd he was happy that she slapped his bum.

Winners: The Bella Twins

The Great Khali was attacked backstage by Nexus when he was on his way to the ring for his match against Wade Barrett. When we got back off commercial Nexus came out and Wade told the crowd the match with Khali is off now. He talked about how they will beat Team WWE at Summerfest. Skip Sheffield talked about how Bret Hart will be handled like Ricky Steamboat and Vince McMahon were. Now that I think about it maybe Steamboat and Vince will be the ones who replace Edge and Jericho in the match? David Otunga said your either Nexus or against us.

-

Edge and Chris Jericho v.s. John Cena and Bret "The Batman" Hart

Bret and John ran into The Miz before they went out and asked him if he was in or out on their team for Summerfest. Miz said he would let them know on Sunday. Bret is wrestling in his street clothes again. Why can't he he just wear a version of his former attire? I understand he isn't in the best shape but I bet he looks better than Matt Hardy or William Regal. We also found out that Hollywood star Justin Long will be the Guest Host next week. Bret stood out on the apron almost the entire time. Jericho got thrown outside the ring and beaten on by Nexus. Edge saved him while Bret dragged Justin Gabriel in the ring to give him a wicked right hand. Hart and Cena stood side by side as Nexus started to come in. R-Truth and Morrison ran in to even the odds. Suddenly Jericho and Edge looked at each other, had a change of heart and ran back into the ring to make it 7 on 6. The crowd was HOT, HOT, HOT for this face off. The Raw guys ran the Nexus off after a brief exchange. The only question remaining is who will take the Great Khali's spot this Sunday? The babyfaces stood tall as the show ended. That was an excellent last minute way to build extra excitement for Summerfest this Sunday night on PPV. That does it for me. Thanks for reading Chad. Have a good night and Stay Classy.
