Jana Bulloch's TNA Destination X Preview and Predictions: Abyss vs. AJ, Generation Me vs. The Motor City Machine Guns, Anderson vs. Angle, and More

By Jana Bulloch Mar 20, 2010 - 8:54 PM

So...

Your Empress of "Impact," your Girly Parts Jesus, your WWI writer with a permanent spot on the short bus, will probably be flying solo in the matter of TNA's ppv offering, "Destination X" on Sunday. Yes, tomorrow Sunday. What, like you were going to watch it? Neither was anyone else, and therein lies the true problem. But I digress.

Here are my predictions and thoughts, for what they are worth.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
AJ Styles (champ) vs. Abyss

AJ retains. If this were truly "Monster" Abyss and not "Giggling Retardo-Ring" Abyss, then there might be some belief in a title change. TNA didn't help themselves by advertising the upcoming ppv "Lockdown" more heavily than the current one, particularly when said advertising features AJ Styles defending his title against "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero. In any case, Lil' Naitch isn't losing the title yet. Let's just hope we don't get another stupid swerve for the sake of swerving, where Abyss wins the belt and loses it again on the following "Impact." You know they'd do that, stop giving me that look!

ULTIMATE X MATCH
Generation Me vs. Motor City Machine Guns

You seriously need to ask who I want to win this match? You don't read my reviews, do you? Seriously, this could and should be the match of the night. That presumes that it's allowed to go for a suitable length of time. The winners of this match will be the #1 Contenders to the Tag Team titles. I desperately want the Guns to win this, as they by all rights should. I just can't shake the feeling that, since they are apparently heels now (for some reason), they'll be sitting back yet again while the babyface Generation Me goes after Beer Money's freshly-won Tag Team titles. Did you know that the MCMG have been teaming since the summer of 2006, and TNA has yet to give them a title run? Even Lethal Consequences has had a title run. That has to violate the Geneva Conventions in some way. Disgraceful. MCMG for Tag Team champs!

GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Rob Terry (champ) vs. Brutus Magnus

YAWN. Big Rob retains. He still can't wrestle. At all. I actually like Magnus, especially on the mic, but no one cares about the Global title, and this is yet another ppv match that has gotten no push, no build, no hype, no tv time, no anything.

X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Doug Williams (champ) vs. Shannon Moore

Williams should retain. Moore has no business getting this title shot right now, and doesn't seem like the guy around whom the X-Division should be built. The match could be decent, though. Williams has it in the ring, but he hasn't been treated like much of a champion.

WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Matt Morgan & Hernandez (champs) vs. Beer Money

Beer Money wins. Morgan and Hernandez were never a true tag team, and won the titles in a ridiculous manner anyway. The real tag team should take the titles back. I would SOOOO look forward to another Beer Money/MCMG title feud, but with the Guns being heels again for no real reason, I doubt we'll see it.

CHALLENGE MATCH
Mr. Anderson vs. Kurt Angle

Angle wins, purely because he got sliced open on the last "Impact." I do agree with the people who say that the bit with Angle and the soldiers beating down Anderson was the end to this thing, and that this match feels unnecessary.

KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Tara (champ) vs. Daffney

I want to see Daffney win. I loves me some Tara, but ever since Hogan announced that the Knockouts can't work, the division has all but vanished. A Gothic Goddess title run would make things ever so interesting. This match will be really good either way, and I particularly look forward to both Daffney and Tara making the Orange One eat his poorly-chosen words.

TNA CONTRACT - OR LEAVE THE COMPANY FOR GOOD
Eric Young & Kevin Nash vs. Scott Hall & Sean "Syxx-pac" Waltman

Meh. Are there words to describe how little I care? We all know that either Nash or Young will turn on the other and help The Band win contracts. I was bored with all of the lot except for Eric Young years ago, and nothing has changed. I wish that The Band had been kidnapped by ninjas, never to be seen or heard from again, instead of Samoa Joe.

LADDER MATCH
Kazarian vs. Daniels vs. Amazing Red vs. Brian Kendrick

The other match of the night! I think that the winner of this match becomes the #1 Contender to the X-Division title. I want to see Daniels win, but since we've seen Kazarian come back, I wouldn't be surprised to see him win it. Truthfully, as long as Lackluster Red doesn't win, I'll be happy.

Join me for the ppv real-time (oh, come on, I could use the company) and see how Madame Cleo-accurate I am!

Peace out,
Jana
