Greetings, all.
Your Empress of "iMPACT" apologizes profusely for not turning up in time to review this past Thursday night's show. James Guttman was kind enough to step in and take over, and all should be right with the world from here on out. "Final Resolution" has to be one of the most poorly-promoted ppvs in the history of ever, and if you know nothing about it, you can't really be blamed. On paper, though, a great deal of it looks promising, and spending your Sunday evening with TNA may not be the worst idea you've had. Let's take a look at the card.
Jana's Predictions for TNA's "Final Resolution" PPV:
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
Daniels vs AJ Styles (ch)
AJ Styles retains, but only just. This could be the match of the night if all goes well, and is reason enough to order or watch the show. As much as I'd love to see Daniels as World Champion, AJ needs to hold on to the title for the time being. He's the perfect face of the company during this time of change, and this is one thing that needs to remain stable.
THREE DEGREES OF PAIN
Desmond Wolfe vs. Kurt Angle
Wolfe wins in the third fall through treachery and shenanigans. The matches between these two have been outstanding, and more of the same should be expected here. Angle got the win at the last second at their last ppv encounter, and Wolfe really needs the win here to keep the momentum going between them. A loss here will not hurt Angle at all.
LAST MAN STANDING MATCH
Bobby Lashley vs. Scott Steiner
Lashley wins. Steiner holds the only victory over Lashley in TNA right now, so another one wouldn't be shocking. Even so, until TNA decides what to do with Lashley in regard to his MMA intentions, they'll likely try to keep him as strong as possible. Personally, I'd like to see Steiner win, but it doesn't seem likely.
CHALLENGE MATCH
Raven & Dr. Stevie vs. Mick Foley & Abyss
Raven and Dr. Stevie win. For one thing, the Psycho Circus has been off tv for far too long. Secondly, Foley has so many issues going on that trump this that his mind and heart won't be in the match. Whether Foley bails on Abyss or just gets distracted, Abyss is taking the fall here.
TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Motor City Machine Guns vs. the British Invasion (ch)
If there is a just and loving god of any form, the MCMG will finally get the tag team title run that they have deserved for the past two-plus years. I will personally drive a bus filled with elderly nuns and crippled war orphans over the edge of a cliff to make this happen.
KNOCKOUTS TITLE MATCH
Tara vs. ODB (ch)
Tara wins. ODB's quasi-heel turn as of late has been confusing, but she has also taken losses to a returning Roxxi, among others, and hasn't looked so strong. I don't see a long-term feud between Tara and ODB, and getting the title off ODB seems the thing to do.
"FEAST OR FIRED" MATCH
Samoa Joe, Robert Roode, James Storm, Kiyoshi, Sheik Abdul Bashir, Rob Terry, and Eric Young
Rob Terry gets the World Heavyweight Championship title shot.
Samoa Joe gets the X-Division title shot.
Kiyoshi gets the Tag Team title shot for himself and Bashir.
Eric Young gets fired, but is later reinstated by Kevin Nash.
8-MAN ELIMINATION TAG TEAM MATCH
Team 3D, Rhino, and Jesse Neal vs. "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero, Matt Morgan, Hernandez, and Suicide
Hernandez will last the first five minutes, but will be eliminated after the rest of his team enters. The babyfaces will end up down to their last man, either "The Pope" or Matt Morgan. The heels will outnumber them. The last remaining baby face will win th ematch for his team, either "The Pope" or Matt Morgan.
Join me right here at WWI for a real-time of Sunday night's "Final Resolution" and see just how right I am!
Cheers!
Jana
