Cheating Death, Stealing Life:

The Eddie Guerrero Story

Eddie Guerrero: Cheating Death, Stealing Life should already be on your shelf, folks! In light of the recent loss of Eddie Guerrero and the fact that the boys at WWI.com don't have one up yet, here is my review of probably the most moving and dramatic yet extremely funny and tragically the most ironic of all WWE Home Video Releases.

Eddie Guerrero: CD,SL goes through the typical throes letting the viewer see the global scope of where Eddie has come from, has been and has done. The DVD introduces you to the legendary Guerrero Family and legacy as well as their roots. The main program was funny, heartbreaking, tragic, even dare I say romantic as well as so much more. The thing I loved most about this DVD is that people could really see why Eddie was so loved by everyone. His interviews about his past, his problems, his victories were made so much more memorable because of the way Eddie completely opened up about them. You could see the guilt, the sadness, the triumph and the love in every word Guerrero said. It is very hard not to get choked up and/or not gain an everlasting respect for Eddie Guerrero after watching this program. There are obviously appearances by Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko and many of Eddie's family who also open up revealing some pretty shocking things (including one moment where Eddie finds out something about his closest friends that makes you wince a little).

The DVD contains some of Eddie's most incredible matches including his ECW matches with Dean Malenko, the unbelievable match with Rey Mysterio, Jr in WCW and one of my personal favorites, the WWE Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Title versus Rob Van Dam. Quite a few matches have some great commentary from not only Eddie but some of his opponents as well (hey, I am a commentary dork...deal with it). If that wasn't enough, the DVD has some really great extras including footage of the now infamous entrance of Eddie with the Radicalz where Eddie injured his arm in his first match in the WWE. Other extras include vignettes with Chavo and Eddie...there is just so much to this DVD that EVERYONE can watch, relate to or even aspire to be.

In closing, Eddie Guerrero: Cheating Death, Stealing Life really is a must buy. The main story itself holds so much power, passion and pure emotion that any wrestling fan should see this is an amazing tribute to one of the best in the business that was taken far too soon. On top of that, Eddie Guerrero has if not the most, but one of the most inspirational stories EVER. If I can rant here for a moment, his story while relative to wrestling, can affect anybody that has problems, this story will inspire you, it will entertain you, it will make you THINK and considering some of the vicious things said about Guerrero from certain media outlets, it will remind you why some of these superstars transcend wrestling and become REAL heroes unlike the predictable, disrepectful and ignorant jerks who sit behind a microphone wondering how they can make an impact.

It is hard to say, think or even type that we will never see Eddie in this world again but this DVD is wonderful way to keep in touch or get to know Eduardo Gory Guerrero. Go buy it...... NOW.

R.I.P.
