4/16 UFC: Recap of Episode 3 of "The Ultimate Fighter 7 - Team Forrest vs. Team Rampage"

By Mallory Mahling Apr 16, 2008 - 11:24 PM

Last week, Matthew Riddle, Luke Zachrich, Tim Creduer, Brandon Sene, Gerald Harris, Daniel Cramer, Jesse Taylor and Matt Brown joined Mike Dolce, Cale Yarbrough, Amir Sadollah, Paul Bradley, Nick Klein, Dante Rivera, C.B. Dolloway, and Jeremy May as cast members of Season 7.

The Sweet Sixteen hopefuls moved into the TUF House. They brought along their luggage and their bravado.

Soon it was time to head back to the UFC Training Center for team selection. Rampage won the coin toss and chose to pick the first fighter rather than first fight. The coaches and the fighters seemed happy with the choices.

Paul Bradley was observed to have sores on his neck and the other guys didn't want to roll with him. Bradley was sent to see Dr. Jason Michaels, a Las Vegas dermatologist. Rampage asked him if he was any relation to Shawn Michaels. He wasn't, he said.

Dr. Michaels determined that Bradley was contagious and Rampage had him training alone on a treadmill.

Later, Dana White called Bradley and Rampage aside and told Bradley he would have to leave. Dana felt bad about it, but he couldn't put the others at risk. Bradley was crushed. He'd given up his coaching job to come to Vegas, and now he'd lost it all. Bradley said it was to be a life-changing season for him.

[Rumor has it that Bradley has recently signed with another MMA organization, so he will get to follow his dream after all.]

As Bradley packed his bags and left, the others felt bad for him, but were glad they wouldn't be exposed to a contagious skin condition.

The teams gathered at the training center for the fight selection. Forrest picked Jesse Taylor vs. Mike Dolce for the first fight.

Forrest called Taylor a raw, unadulterated meat head. He said he was done with him.

Dolce said he had been a municipal tax assessor for a decade in New Jersey before deciding to become a professional athlete. He was excited about this opportunity to work his way into the big time.

Dana asked Rampage who he would like to bring back to replace Bradley.

A little later in strolled Patrick Schultz who had tapped out to Luke in their try-out match. Dana wasn't sure Schultz was the strongest choice, but Rampage's assistant coaches apparently saw something in him.

Rampage stopped by the TUF House to "kick it" with his team. Rampage said he could be friends with anybody--man, woman, fish or alien--as long as they didn't try to eat him.

Rampage bonded with his team and they appreciated the fact that he had stopped by to check on them before the first fight.

Dolce said he would be fighting twice in less then a week and was looking forward to the match. Both he and Jesse were confident that they would be winning. In fact, both Dolce and Jesse thought they were good enough to be The Ultimate Fighter. Well, what else are they gonna say?

First Preliminary Fight: Mike Dolce vs. Jesse Taylor.

Herb Dean was the referee for this fight. Dolce was in trouble early and stayed that way into the second round when he tapped out to a rear naked choke. Taylor took the win, to the surprise of some, and ended up with $10,000 from Burger King. Not a bad pay day.

Guess Forrest is stuck with the raw meat head for a while longer.

Dolce was disappointed but was still happy to be there. If something happens to someone else, he said he'd be happy to step in.

Next week: Rampage hopes to turn things around for his team.
