4/23 UFC: Recap of Episode 4 of "The Ultimate Fighter 7 - Team Forrest vs. Team Rampage"

By Mallory Mahling Apr 23, 2008 - 11:16 PM

Last week Mike Dolce was eliminated by Jesse Taylor, which gave Team Forrest the advantage.

Back at the TUF House, Jesse rewarded himself with some adult beverages. He said he'd squandered some opportunities and he looked upon The Ultimate Fighter as an experience to capitalize on.

Matthew Riddle and Dante Rivera started a light-hearted war of words. Will it stay light-hearted?

Riddle comes across as a bit immature. He announced last week that he still lived at home with mom and didn't even have a driver's license at the age of 22.

At the UFC Training Center, Rampage was still trying to assess the abilities of his team. He said he'd never coached anyone and wanted his guys to know how to be mentally tough, as well as physically. He said he wanted to be a friend to these guys, as well as their coach.

Team Rampage discussed the upcoming fight, and Pat Shultz felt that he was going to be picked to fight this week.

Jesse "Ringworm Boy" was observed to have a few spots on his skin.

Riddle said he wanted to fight. He detailed how he'd like to fight "old man" Dante.

It was time for the fight announcement. Forrest announced that it would be Tim Credeur of Team Forrest vs. Matthew Riddle of Team Rampage.

That pleased Rampage, who figured Riddle could beat Credeur.

Conversely, Credeur felt that Riddle was new to the sport with a lot of dreams, and he could beat the dreams right out of him.

Dante tried to get under Riddle's skin. All in fun, of course. Dante said he used to be a car salesman so he was used to getting into people's heads.

Credeur said he was there to win. He didn't care about the limelight; he wanted his share of the battles and wanted to test himself. He was there for a job. He thought Riddle was there for the fun and it was "neato mosquito."

Riddle knew he was an underdog; he would go out there with a smile on his face and have fun.

At the weigh-ins, both made weight easily. Dana White observed how Riddle is young and inexperienced and Credeur has a great deal of experience and has trained with some of the best.

Riddle said that he had time on his side, whereas Credeur was on his way out, with maybe five more years in the sport. (Ah, the bravado of youth. He may have to eat those words one day.)

Credeur was tired of doing small shows and dealing with promoters. This was do or die for him.

Riddle said he was a mama's boy and knew he would have to grow up one day.

Second Preliminary Fight: Tim Credeur vs. Matthew Riddle.

Josh Rosenthal was the referee for this match. The first round was action-packed--experience vs. exuberance.

Round two was also non-stop, but Credeur won it with an arm bar when Riddle tapped out.  Credeur also won $5,000 from Burger King.  It was a really good fight, and Riddle showed that he has a great deal of talent for the sport.

Rampage sat Riddle down and had encouraging words for him even though he'd lost. He wasn't mad at Riddle, but Riddle felt the fact that Rampage was disappointed was even worse.

Coach Rampage was also disappointed that his team had now lost the first two fights.

Next week: Rampage goes on a tirade and Michael Bisping visits the Training Center.
