4/30 UFC: Recap of Episode 5 of "The Ultimate Fighter 7 - Team Forrest vs. Team Rampage"
By Mallory Mahling
Last week Team Forrest's Tim Credeur had beaten Matt Riddle. That meant Team Forrest was 2 and 0 and would be able to pick the next matchup. Credeur said Riddle had made him a better fighter and he promised Riddle an X-Box, which Matt said made him feel like he'd won. Back at the TUF House, Jeremy May was acting childishly and was getting on the nerves of some of his fellow houseguests. At the UFC Training Center, Coach Rampage brought in a surprise guest to train with his team -- Michael Bisping, a former TUF winner and successful UFC fighter now. Bisping said they should eat right, not drink, etc. Everything he didn't do, he joked. Matt Brown of Team Forrest was being featured. He had become the target of Jeremy May's pranks. Jeremy put lime juice in Matt Brown's tobacco and the others waited for the explosion. Just as they expected, Brown didn't see the humor. Jeremy said he was just kidding around, but Brown pointed out they were not close enough friends for him to get away with that type of behavior. At the fight announcement, Forrest said this week's fight would be Dante Rivera vs. Brandon Sene. Brown and May seemed disappointed they wouldn't get to beat the stuffing out of each other this week. Coach Rampage was optimistic and felt Sene was a tough guy. Sene related that he'd been a sniper in the Marines. Forrest and his assistant coaches worked with Dante and Forrest said he had a good feeling about Dante. On fight day, Brandon said he knew he was the underdog. Rampage told Sene he had faith in him. Preliminary Match: Brandon Sene vs. Dante Rivera. This fight went two full rounds, with each giving as good as he got, with no clear winner. It went to a third round. Dana White commented that Brandon had been throwing hard knees, and working hard from the bottom. Dana observed that Brandon had done the most work, although neither had looked all that impressive. The judges' decision went to Dante. Dana said that judges usually look for who does the most damage and he felt Brandon had done the most damage. Coach Rampage went on a…well…rampage. He said he tried hard to control his temper and had even gone to anger management in the past, but it only made him angry. Rampage went outside and kicked some inanimate objects. Rampage's assistant coach, Juanito Ibarra, told Brandon to stay positive; there is always a lesson to be learned, even though it might not be apparent now. Coach Forrest didn't think it was a bad decision. Well, he wouldn't since his guy got the win. It's now Team Forrest 3, Team Rampage 0. Next week's match was announced: Jeremy May vs. Matt Brown. Mouthy May said Matt Brown had little man complex. Jeremy may have bitten off more than he can chew, since Matt was genuinely pissed. Forrest observed that one thing you do not do to a Southern man is put lime juice in his tobacco. You won't want to miss next week's fight. It's gonna be personal. *********************** After Episode 5, here is the way the teams look: TEAM FORREST TEAM RAMPAGE Mike Dolce (Eliminated in Episode 3 by Jesse Taylor) Matthew Riddle (Eliminated in Episode 4 by Tim Credeur)
